HOW TO DRESS WHEN WE’RE IN BETWEEN SEASONS
September is here, so that means that summer is almost over. But, the weather hasn’t yet got the memo, so it is still hot outside. It can be a challenge when choosing an outfit, and most of us are left wondering how to dress when we’re in between seasons.
If you aren’t a fashion blogger, then you are probably still dressing for the weather. If it is sunny and hot, you are probably in shorts, tee shirts, jeans, or a loose-fitting dress. However, for us bloggers, we have to start looking ahead and showing you items that you will need in the coming weeks.
As the days get shorter and shorter, the temperatures drop a little more each day. Lightweight clothing with long sleeves is a great option since they give you a little coverage, but you can roll up the sleeves when you feel too hot. I also look for clothing that has fall colors but isn’t too heavy and hot. I even wrote a post on how to take one outfit and make it work for all four seasons.
This embroidered sleeve tunic is a great top to wear when we’re in between seasons. It is lightweight, and the top is nice and soft. The top has a v-neck which is always my favorite neckline because it elongates your neck. But, let’s be honest, it was the embroidery that caught my eye.
Look at these gorgeous colors that are perfect for fall! The chamois yellow, the olive green, and the plum purple color are all colors that will be great for fall.
When I say that this top is a tunic, I mean that it is LONG! Many younger girls might even wear this as a dress, but we older ladies will just wear it with leggings or pants.
I thought the top was too long since my pants were cropped and had a wide leg. I tied a knot at the side to shorten the top so that it looks better with the cropped pants. This is a wonderful trick that I use with tops that are too oversized, and it works wonders! If you have trouble tying a knot in your clothing, flip the top inside out, take a hairband, and put it around the extra material. When you flip the top back right side out, you tuck the knot inside the top, and it looks like a design element. It might take you a few tries to get the look you want, but it works in the middle or on the side equally as well.
I am wearing a size medium, and it fits great, just really long. Lol!
I don’t want you to be kicking yourself in the rear later, so take my word and put this necklace in your cart! You don’t often find a cute necklace in colors that will work for every season, but this one will. The lighter colors will look great in spring and summer, and the darker colors work great for fall and winter.
This open-link chain necklace features a mix of shapes and sizes to add unique texture and style to casual and dressy outfits. There is a matching bracelet and drop earrings, and a different style necklace is shown below.
The other jewelry that I am wearing is by Kendra Scott, and they have a huge 20% off EVERYTHING sale!!! That means their fine jewelry and jewelry boxes are also on sale, and those hardly ever are on sale. I have their jewelry boxes, and they are amazing, expensive…but gorgeous!!! Plus, since Christmas will be before you know it, check out their gift section. You can filter by price, and that makes it easy to make your selection. Below are the links to what I am wearing:
The camel-colored wallet crossbody is one that I’ve been wearing a lot lately. I like the smaller size, especially if I am just running to the store, out shopping, or just needing my hands free for other things. The crossbody strap can be removed to turn it into a normal wallet. It is made from leather, has multiple compartments, card slots, and a zipper pocket to keep you organized.
Wearing olive on my lower half is how I have traditionally worn olive, but I’ve recently embraced this color, and I am now wearing it also on my top half. I love this pair of light moss crop pants! I love, love, love the color of these crop pants, and the style will be perfect for booties.
These pants look worn-in like they are a pair of loved pants you wear all of the time. I have a feeling they will become exactly that for me. With J.Jill, I never know what size pants that I will wear. Sometimes, I need an 8, and sometimes I need a 10. I needed a 10 with this pair. I felt like the waist was waaaay too tight when I tried on the 8, and the 10 fit much better.
This pair of driving loafers have become a go-to for me. I love the style and the two-toned links across the foot. But, the comfortable fit that keeps me reaching for them repeatedly. Normally, a loafer isn’t my style of shoe, so this is a change for me. I tried them on a whim during the Nordstrom Sale, and I am so glad that I did. For you gurls who need flats, give these a try. They run TTS, and I am wearing my usual size 9.
It is raining, and it doesn’t look like it will let up any time soon. So, I found a spot on my sun porch to take photos, and I bet this is where I’ll take my photos from now on when it rains or snows. I used the front-facing camera on my phone, so the photos aren’t as crisp as normal. I’ll have to work on that in the future, but I hope you can still see the details.

This is a great outfit and perfect for the transitional times between sweltering in the South to a crisp Fall. Thank you
Love the fall colors. Did I see painted nails too??🤩 😉
Haha! Yes, I painted my nails!!!
What a pretty outfit on you! I think the pictures turned out just fine. Down here in south central Georgia we are having a few days with lower humidity l but the temp is still in the upper 80’s and low 90’s. Next week the humidity returns with the temp staying in the 90’s, so I am choosing lightweight clothes that are in fall colors.
Love the outfit and the jewelry too!! I really need to get that shirt, but must wait for a sale. I’m finding that my olive chinos are way more versatile than I ever imagined.
I like how you styled this outfit. Very nice!
Wow, I looked at that tunic on the web site and didn’t like it at all but the way you styled it looks great!
Thanks! I thought it was so cute.
Just love the tunic Tania, have a great day!
I’m glad that you like it, Mary!
I love this look. It’s like pulling on that red sweatshirt that has faded to pink. Just a comfortable outfit that doesn’t stand on ceremony. Thanks for the knot tip.
Eve, it is sure comfortable and cute!
Love this outfit! Love your style. I’m shorter than you, but a lot of your tips work for me too. I also love that you include scripture. Please keep posting and proclaiming the Gospel as you go.
