HOW TO DRESS FOR A COLD WINTER
Well, we are over the hump. Yesterday was the longest night of the longest year ever! So, from today going forward the nights will be getting shorter and the days longer. I love the light, and it is depressing when the days are so short. I know that it starts getting dark around 2:00 pm where my daughter lives, and that drives her crazy. But, in the summertime, it is still semi-light outside at midnight. That would drive me bonkers since I am one of those people who has to have complete darkness.
I have to laugh at myself. Here it is the middle of December, and I am already starting to think about Spring. Winter hasn’t really set in yet but I am pushing it aside to usher in the warmer weather and longer days of Spring. It hasn’t been very cold so far this winter, but I did look at the forecast and saw that it is supposed to be a high of 24º on Christmas day with morning snow showers. Any other day I would hate to think of 24 being the high for the day, but it seems appropriate for Christmas Day. I am giddy at the thoughts of snow flurries for Christmas. It probably won’t happen, but it is at least a possibility. Lol! ❄️ ❄️ ❄️
It looks like I am still in a neutral frame of mind. I just got this mock neck sweater in and I couldn’t wait to style it for all of you. This is a fabulous basic item that has some flare to it. The wide mock neck is different than most and gives the top a unique detail that lets it stand out.
The sweater has a relaxed fit, so it doesn’t cling or show any lumps and bumps that you might have. Plus, I like the way the cuffs and hem have ribbing since that keeps the sweater tight to your body. The top does contain a small amount of wool for those who have allergies, but it is still machine washable. For women like me who don’t have a dry cleaner close by, this is a must-have. I am wearing a size medium in the sweater and it fits me great.
When I bought the AG skinny Jeans (worn here) a couple of weeks ago, I also ordered this high-waisted straight-leg pair. I had never tried the jeans before, and I wanted to try them since I caught them on sale. I LOVE the skinny jeans pair, and this pair looks great on me, but I found them to be shorter than I wanted. They look great with ankle boots, but I don’t know that I would like them with flats. I want to be able to wear them with both options. I am probably going to send them back since I am on the fence about them and they are fairly expensive. But, seeing these photos sure makes me want to reconsider my decision. I am wearing a size 30 in these jeans which is my usual size for jeans.
When the temperature dips down, it is time to bring out the long coats. I love this double-breasted plaid coat! The colors are so soft and muted, and I feel like you could wear this coat for any occasion. It is dressy but it also looks great with jeans. The coat is lined, as you can see from the photo above, and it is very nice and warm.
I like that the coat comes to my knees and how it is softly fitted so that I can wear it over a sweater. I like how all of the stripes line up on the coat, this is an attention to detail that I like to see in my clothing. The only drawback that I can find is that it is Dry Clean Only, and you know that I hate clothing that has to be drycleaned. I am wearing a medium in the coat and I think that it fits me great.
Yes, I’m wearing the same pair of ankle boots again! When I find something that works well with almost anything, then you will see me grab it time after time. The neutral color and the pointy toe style of the boot makes these so easy to wear. The chunky block heel is stable to walk in, so these are my go-to for the rest of the winter.
These are the Lex Bootie and I am wearing my usual size 9 in these boots. They fit great, so I would say that they run true to size. As of last night, these were still on sale for 50% off, so grab a pair before the sale ends. Where else are you going to find a beautiful pair of leather boots for under $45.00?
Update on my grandpa, he is doing well and isn’t having to be on oxygen right now. They are having trouble getting him to eat, so they are going to try and send him some food. Maybe he just doesn’t like hospital food??? My aunt continues to be doing well, just tired. I want to thank every one of you for the prayers and comments. I am sorry that I didn’t have time to comment back yesterday, I was at the lumber company all day long.

love your finds on some of my favorite stores and HSN
Catching up on some old posts and have to say that these jeans are fabulous!
Hi Tania,
Please know that I have your Grandpa and your Aunt in my thoughts and prayers. Hospital food is probably not the most appetizing food to look forward to eat. Hopefully your Grandpa is given a nutritional supplement drink like Ensure, the Vanilla is tasty and has 350 calories
I’m sorry to hear about your Grandpa, but delighted to hear he’s on the mend….as usual, gorgeous outfit! Love the mock neck sweater,…looks fabulous,…
I believe the scripture verse is from Psalms, not Proverbs.
Have a Blessed Nativity.
Hospital food is horrible. When my daughter was in the hospital for chemo treatment, we brought her in food every day, three meals. Definitely see if they can bring him in food. I am sure that will appeal to him. Hope he stays on track with his recovery (as well as your aunt.)
Continued prayers for your grandpa and aunt.
Happy holidays! I copied your outfit from the other day and wearing today and feel cute! Thanks….they red plaid blouse with black joy sweatshirt! I have matching plaid shoes to go with it
Glad to hear some good news about your grandfather and aunt! Love this coat!
Good morning, Tania. This is one of my favorite outfits (maybe not the coat) on you! I want those jeans but wow they are expensive but if I end up looking as good as you they are worth it! I have a question on the Lex booties. Yours look more taupe but the website is only showing the Chestnut Suede which are nice but I prefer the more gray. Are yours the chestnut or did you get them when they had a more taupe-y color? Thanks!
Have a blessed day!
MaryLu
Mary Lu, mine is the Chestnut Suede color. They are not gray and don’t have a gray tint at all.
Thanks so much, Tania!!
Our Lord is indeed the great physician. Hope your grandpa and aunt continue to improve. Love the outfit. Merry Christmas to you and all of your followers from Georgia!
Thanks, Sandra. They are both still doing great. To God Goes The Glory!
