HOW TO COMBAT NEGATIVITY

50 Is Not Old | Combat NegativityI am naturally a glass-half-full kind of gal. My husband tells me that I live in a tra-la-la-la-la world, and I am fine with that. I see the good in people and hardly ever see the bad. I assume that everyone is going to do the right thing, and will treat everyone fairly. Some of you will say this is naive, and I actually agree with you. But, I prefer to be occasionally disappointed, instead of looking at the negatives all the time.50 Is Not Old | Combat NegativityWith all that being said, how do you combat negativity when it comes your way? Do you know someone in your life who is a “Debbie Downer?” (Sorry if your name is Debbie, no harm intended) Are YOU that person?50 Is Not Old | Combat Negativity

I never intended for this blog to talk about issues or even be an inspirational type of service. It is supposed to be a lookbook with links to the clothing items. However, I find myself getting something on my mind, and this is a perfect outlet for me. Sorry if you are caught in the crossfire.50 Is Not Old | Combat Negativity

I had a comment on the blog a while back, that was harsh. And this one commenter on Pinterest left a comment that said I looked 60. If that wasn’t enough, they went back and said, “no 70.” One blogger I know almost quit blogging because of the mean comments that people were leaving. Thankfully she stuck it out, and is doing great now.50 Is Not Old | Combat Negativity

I know that my outfits are not all winners, and I know that I might should have worn a different pair of shoes or carried a different purse. I have never taken a fashion course and I am not an expert in anything fashion related. I simply get dressed in the morning and take a picture before I head out the door.50 Is Not Old | Combat Negativity

I hope you enjoy my outfits and can tolerate my ramblings. I have grown to love the blog, and all you gurls who participate. I feel like I now know some of you ?50 Is Not Old | Combat NegativityHave you caught on to me being sneaky? I throw in an outfit that most of you will not like, because of the extremely distressed jeans, while doing a post on negativity. Hahaha Now you will feel bad it you don’t say something nice. 50 Is Not Old | Combat NegativityThis is my laid back, take it easy, go shopping on a rainy Saturday kind of look. I bought this silky t-shirt a couple of years ago. I don’t own a lot of t-shirts, well not many that you would wear out in public. I have a lot that are my sleeping shirts and cleaning (who am I kidding, I don’t clean) shirts.

Graphic T-Shirt: Similar | Similar | Plus50 Is Not Old | Combat NegativityThis distressed jeans are on the extreme side. I only wear these on Saturdays when I am running around town. They are soft and comfortable, but I know how most people feel about these jeans. The last time I wore these jeans, I styled them with my monogrammed sneakers. This time, I have on a pair of Chanel espadrilles that were a hand-me-down gift.

Distressed jeans: Similar | Levi’s | Plus50 Is Not Old | Combat NegativitySince I was feeling a little sassy, I put on my leather cuff bracelet that says, G.R.I.T.S. That stand for Girls Raised In The South. How cute is that for this Tennessee gurl that is now living in a Virginia world?

Bracelet:  Similar50 Is Not Old | Combat NegativityMy gray satchel is by Aimee Kestenberg. I bought mine for next to nothing because it’s shoulder strap had a malfunction. I bought it thinking if it couldn’t be fixed, then I would just carry it by the short handles, and forget the shoulder straps. I took it back to work and gave it to Gerald (he can fix anything). Five minutes later he was back, purse fixed good as new. Sometimes it pays to work in a lumber company.?50 Is Not Old | Combat NegativityIn case you were wondering about the harsh comment. I approved it, and then I smiled sweetly to myself and typed, “Thank you very much for your encouraging words.” So, how do you combat negativity? With kindness, and of course don’t forget to say, “Bless Your Heart.”

  1. Tania, I adore your blog for the outfits and the ramblings. I’m a positive thinking person too. It’s not that hard to turn hard things in life around to a positive spin if you try and that’s how I prefer to look at hurdles in life.

I think your outfits are perfect! You are showing real clothes for real people and your prices are affordable. Jeans and a cute tshirt is haute couture in my book. 🙂

  2. You have a great blog, a great sense of humour and a great attitude! I read it every morning with my cup of coffee. I’m one of your silent followers as I haven’t mastered typing on the tiny keypad of my tablet, but I’m at my computer now and can comment.

Your style sense is wonderful – I love how you mix colours and patterns. And thank you for showing us more reasonably priced outfits that most of us could afford. Your blog is a breath of fresh air.

    1. That made me smile Yvonne. I have long nails, and so typing on the small devices is a challenge for me too.? Thanks for following, if it is mostly silent. Haha

  3. All I can is that person must need glasses because you don’t look like you are anywhere near the age of 60 let alone 70. I love your posts, I look forward to them every day. You have inspired me to try and up my game while getting ready in the morning. I have worn jewelry that has been tucked away for years. Keep that pretty smile on that pretty face and think about the positive posts you receive on a daily basis. Have a great day Tania!

  4. You look great! Love this outfit! Looking good!

  5. I enjoy all of your posts and even if a particular outfit is not my style I appreciate your look! Agree with the other comments that leaving a negative statement is about that person, not you. Makes me think of how people forget there is a real person on the other end of their device! Cute tshirt btw!

  6. I love your blog and esp all the stories that come with it! I live mostly in T shirts, so i love when you show cute tee shirts like this one, and how to dress it up a little.

  7. I love the distressed jeans, no reason that you and I can’t wear them, they look great.
I don’t like the “you are too old for” talk
I watch way too much Q and love seeing all the things you buy at the outlet, too fun

My pastor husband says “Hurt people, hurt people.” I’m optimistic like you and I try to remember that. I started following you just a few weeks ago and I love your blog!! I’m a Tennessee gurl who has lived in Mississippi for over 40 years. Your style is similar to mine and I’ve really enjoyed your outfits…I must get to Old Navy and get some of those cute Pixie Pants next time I’m in the city (we live in the country). Thanks for you blog and attitude!!

    1. Another good quote from a pastor. I need to write them in my scripture journal for today.

  9. You look fabulous! Totaly me!

  10. I love your blog and look forward to it each morning, who doesn’t like starting the day off with a little chuckle or at the very least a smile! 🙂 While personally I can’t do distressed jeans, you rock the look!!
