Color should have been my middle name. I think that my blood is bright pink instead of that boring red color. Lol! Colorful clothing makes me feel alive, and it brightens my complexion. If you aren’t sure how to get away from your all-black wardrobe, I can help. Let’s look at ways to add color to your summer wardrobe without overwhelming you.
I can wear head-to-toe bright colors and never bat an eye. But, I know many women aren’t comfortable wearing bright colors and tend to stick with neutrals. There is nothing wrong with neutrals; I wear them all of the time. I think of it like this…neutrals are the classics, the basics of a wardrobe. Colors are the accents, the icing on the cake, the flair that brings any outfit to life. Don’t panic; you don’t have to dive into the color pool headfirst; instead, you can dip your toe in and start small.
Speaking of toes, a brightly colored manicure and pedicure might be your starting point. This is nothing too flashy, but it will still add flair to your outfit. Scarves are another way to add color; did you see yesterday’s post?
Yes, the sweater is colorful, but even if the sweater was white or navy, using the scarf as a belt is a small step that adds color.
If you are a little braver, then you could use the scarf as a headband and bring color to your face. I also tie scarves on my handbag for a fresh summertime look.
A handbag can also be a colorful addition. I have handbags in cobalt blue, vibrant green, yellow, and of course, hot pink.
I’ve carried this pink leather tote from Vera Bradley for years, and it still looks brand new!
This pink ombre twinset adds color by the handfuls. I love how the color brightens my face and makes me look alive. The rib-knit sweater tank has a v-neck that features a snap front. The tank is a slim fit, so I ordered a large. The tank is plenty stretchy and large enough, but it does skim your body because of the rib-knit.
The matching ombre long sleeve coverup looks fabulous with the tank, but it would also look great with a white or navy tank. Don’t feel like you have to buy or wear both pieces; you can wear each one separately. The coverup/cardigan would be easier to wear since the tank is such a slim fit. The quality of these pieces is excellent, and you will feel special when you wear them.
On Tuesday, I posted about skinny jeans and how they aren’t the favorite son anymore. I still love my skinny jeans, especially for wearing with ankle boots and knee boots, but the style that I am wearing today is hands down my favorite.
These are straight-leg style jeans, and they don’t fit as tightly around the calves and ankles. I like that they fit tighter around my hips and thighs and then fall straight from the knees down. This look is more flattering for most people, and people with larger calves (ME) will find them easier to wear. Some retailers also call this look a bootcut, so either description works for me.
These jeans are by Jag Jeans, and they are the Eloise. I am linking several different retailers that are carrying these jeans since each one has different sizes available. I did size down to an 8 instead of my usual size 10, and they fit me perfectly.
Shoes are another way of adding color. You will see me adding a pop of color with pumps a lot, especially a bright pink pair that I love. As soon as I saw these floral print slides, I knew that I had to order them. They are actually very comfortable, and I love the crinkle material that creates a bow on top. The shoes run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 9. These shoes would look so pretty with a dress for a baby shower.
I used to wear an Apple Watch all of the time, but for some reason, I just quit. Now, I’ve decided to wear a watch again, and I can’t believe that I ever quit. The watch is so convenient, and I have to glance at it instead of grabbing for my phone. This is a Series 3, but they now have a Series 6 available.
Here is a side view so that you can gauge the length of the coverup. I also wanted to mention that I am wearing the AVI gold hoops by Kendra Scott. Those are my favorite pair of earrings!
You’ve seen me carry this Tory Burch bag a lot this summer. I love the lighter canvas material against the brown leather, and I think the bag is a great size. However, I know that this bag is definitely expensive, but I found a VERY similar bag, and I’ll be showing that to you soon. But, if you want to check the bag out NOW, here is the link, and it is only $40.00!
