HIT OR MISS FOR A FALL TRANSITION LOOK
Y’all, I had to laugh when I started looking through today’s photos. When my sister and I shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last week, one of my bags beeped as we left the store. To figure out which bag had the issue, I held all the bags, and my sister went through the detector with one bag at a time. Once we figured it out, the clerk said it was a tag that had been left in my watch box, so he removed it, and when we left, the beeper didn’t go off. We thought we were in the clear…
Apparently, I was wrong. If you look closely at my blazer, you will see a security tag hanging underneath my hand. Since I bought this in Atlanta, it isn’t like I can go back to the store and have them remove the tag. I’m afraid to cut the tag off myself, so I guess I’ll have to return the blazer online.

Let’s start today’s Hit or Miss post by talking about this Black Utility Jumpsuit. I like this jumpsuit a lot; it kind of reminds me of a mechanics outfit but in an updated and modern way. Jumpsuits are a one-and-done item, and I have come to love them. I have learned to head to the bathroom in plenty of time to unbutton or unzip the jumpsuit, or else you might have a disaster on your hands. Lol! You can dress this up or down, and I can see many ways to wear this jumpsuit this fall. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
Here is a close-up look of the jumpsuit where you can see the pocket details and sash belt. You can always remove the belt and replace it with something different if you want. I’m wearing the Sloan Star Open Frame Earrings in Mixed Metal. I love the dangling stars and how they are in silver, gold, and rose gold. The Adeline Chain Link Necklace and the 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil Cross Necklace are two that I wear all of the time.
You can sure see the security tag in the photo. Lol! I wanted to show you how to take the black jumpsuit and style it for a fall transition look. It is an easy process; you add accessories in fallish colors. I started by adding the Plaid Double Breasted Blazer I bought from the Nordstrom Sale. If you’ve not already looked at my try-on hauls, here is the first one, and here is the second one.
Here is a photo that shows the length of the blazer. I like the longer length, and I’m glad this is the coming trend. I’m wearing a size 10; the fit is great. I’ll be able to wear it over sweaters in the fall, so I think it is the perfect fit.
I go through spells where I buy all one color. Lately, I seem to be buying lots and lots of olive green and chocolate. It is wild how your taste can change since I’ve never been a fan of either color and now I can’t get enough of them. This Sycamore Green Tote is the perfect fall transition accessory. I love the size of this tote; it is large but not so large that Petite women couldn’t carry it. I also love the wide straps that seem to stay on your shoulders.
The leather tote I’m carrying is a little pricey, so here is a similar one that is half the price. This Oversized Shopper Tote is leather, and almost the same color and size, so it’s a good choice if the other one is out of your budget range.
Okay, y’all, these Tassel Platform Loafers are not something I would usually pick. I didn’t even pick these, Franco Sarto sent them to me to try, and I’m surprised that I like them. My sister wears shoes like this, so I sent her a photo of these to show her what I had gotten.
The platform lug sole is youthful and modern-looking, and I see a lot of women wearing this style, but I had never tried it. These are out of my comfort zone, but I think they are a pair I’m going to like, especially with jeans that are a little long. These are my regular size 9, and they are a little loose, but once I put on a pair of socks, they should fit fine.
Before I go, I wanted to ask if any of you bought anything yesterday for Amazon Prime Days? I purchased the Chocolate Protein Powder that we use all of the time, Joe a Brown Leather Dress Belt, and a Stretch Belt for him in Brown and Black. Somehow, the Ninja 14pc Knife Block Set and Ninja Kitchen System ended up in my cart. Lol! I’m not sure how that happened, but I’m betting my daughter had something to do with it.
Be sure to check out the Lightning Deals. Those are steep discounts on items with a limited amount of inventory. The deal will only last for a specific amount of time, so you have to act fast if you want them.
So, is this Fall Transition Outfit a Hit or a Miss? What do you like about the outfit, and what wouldn’t work for your body shape.

Sorry, I did not like the jumpsuit. The shoes are terrible especially with that jumpsuit. The blazer was nice.
Total miss for me. Black is not flattering, blazer is too long and the shoes are too clunky for me. I don’t like jumpsuits either. After a certain age, they were a “never again” for me; the same with one piece bathing suits!
It’s a miss for me. I agree with others, the shoes are too chunky. I like the outfit from the waist up, but for me the jumpsuit legs look too baggy and short.
I also thought this outfit was a miss. I like jumpsuits, but on this one the pant length was too short, especially with the clunky shoes. I like the shoes, but not with that outfit.
I love every bit of it! It took being convinced by a young coworker to finally try a jumpsuit, now I love them. I think the outfit is very professional but also relaxed.great for school.
Love the shoes, I have a pair, like them with Juan’s! Love the blazer with the fuchsia in it. The jumpsuit is cute but I have several. You may be able to get the tag removed at a store you go to in your area. I just bought the madewell tote in the scrumptious green today! Because I loved your bag! Have a good day!
Not a hit today. The shoes are visually too heavy for the jumpsuit. The blazer looks too long for the fullness of the jumpsuit. However, I love the jumpsuit and would look great with a cardigan as a transitional outfit.
First time I’ve ever said MISS on any of your posts. I think it looks too big on you and I don’t like the shoes at all. Sorry, not trying to hurt your feelings.
Individually the pieces are a hit; worn together, they are a miss. The blazer would look great with slim cropped or ankle jeans, but it’s too bulky with the jumpsuit. And the jumpsuit really needs a more feminine shoe.
The jumpsuit is nice, but I have never worn one. I don’t like the blocky look of the shoes.
Happened to me once. I bought a skirt in San Antonio and didn’t wear it till the evening…after the store was closed. And we were flying home early the next morning. So, I brought it home with me and took it to my local store…I think it was Dillard’s…along with a copy of my receipt and they took it right off for me!
Too dark and I’d never wear a jumpsuit.
My first thought was frumpy!!! Not a look I would go for!!!
Definitely a miss! I think it’s the cropped pant length and the chunky shoes! I think the shoes are a trend and won’t be around for long. Invest in a classic loafer!
I would wear it for sure. You look great and the shoes are on trend for fall.
I like the jumpsuit! Blazers and chunky shoes don’t fit my personal style, so I would wear a jean jacket or cardigan sweater over it, and I’m not sure about the shoes. I wore my jumpsuit last week to Larry’s cancer appointment, which is one hour away. I tinkled right before we walked out the door. I barely made it in the bathroom stall before it would be too late, so I know what you mean. However,I’m still love wearing that jumpsuit!
Miss for me. I think the jumpsuit and blazer might have worked well together if the jumpsuit had not been cropped. The shoes are a HARD NO, any where, with anything. I seldom vote miss on any of these posts, but this one truly warranted it.
This entire outfit is a miss for me. I think the bagginess of the outfit is not flattering and the clunky shoes are definitely for the very much younger crowd. I prefer clothing that is not tight fitting, but fit closer to the body.
Tania, I had that happen to me before with the tag. I just took my item to a near by clothing store and asked if they would take it off and they did.
Tania, LOVE all your posts but this entire outfit is a miss for me. All the black is too harsh and the shoes are way too clunky for the jumpsuit. I prefer you in more tailored clothing to show off your weight loss. You look best in more colorful clothing but understand wanting to have something different to wear in your closet. Thanks for showing us ladies all the beautiful outfits throughout the year and the great tips about fashion.
You are so slim and trim, but this outfit (and shoes) are too bulky. It’s a miss!
Have Joe use the wire cutters on the tag. It works. Like the jacket, not so much the jumpsuit.
I like it. I would wear it.
I probably wouldn’t look at any of these pieces separately but together I think they look great!! Especially the jumpsuit. I think the blazer being a little bigger fit works with the jumpsuit. The shoes are a little out of my comfort zone so I would probably pass on those but love the other items!! Thanks for the great ideas for something different hanging in my closet.
This is not a negative to you, but it’s not a style I care for. I’m sure it’s current and maybe on trend, but it reminds me of the Diane Keaton style from 40 yrs ago and I wasn’t a fan then either. The reason for me is, I like feminine flare, and this look for me is too masculine. I wonder how it would look with a feminine pointy toe heel? Anyway, just my 2 cents about the styles I like best. But, as the saying goes: you do you😍
It’s a no for me. The blazer is too big and is “wearing” you. I like the jumpsuit but not with the blazer. I think you would need a fitted jacket over the jumpsuit.
Unlike most everyone else today, I think this outfit looks very chic and current! I would have to find these items in a color other than black, but I would wear it all. (By the way, the link for the loafers isn’t working, as it took me to the shopping tote.)
Thanks, Sarah, I fixed the link. Here it is for you: https://shopstyle.it/l/bJeEw
It’s a nope for me. I’m not a fan of the mechanic’s coverall style. The blazer is a generous fit and with both of them being loose fitting, it just comes off looking a little (hate to use the word) sloppy. I think the blazer would be nice with some slimmer fit pieces maybe, or sized down. The shoes are ok, and if they’re comfortable that could be a fun addition to the wardrobe.
Don’t like the shoes with this out fit.
It’s a miss for me. Too clunky and chunky. Not figure flattering. Maybe if the jumpsuit was full length ?
This would be a miss for me. Jumpsuit is fine on its own but I agree with other people’s post that the blazer does not work and the shoes are a definite no with this…but knowing you I KNOW you will have something to change it up and make it perfect for you..maybe that. Like be another post????😇
Hi, love your blog, but this is a miss for me. I always appreciate comfortable clothing but it is all too baggie and not fitted enough. I enjoy your looks that are more tailored and fitted. Seems like since you lost weight your clothing choices are more baggy. Would love to see you in more fitted, “sexier” clothing. Do love your uplifting spirit and this blog!!
I really don’t care for any of these looks and the shoes make it look worse‼️
I like the all the pieces, just not together – especially the shoes.
GM
I am not a fan! The Blazer is a little to boxy looking. The shoes I just don’t care for. I like some jumpsuits just not loving the length or fit of this one. Also I have been through several cycles of fashion jumpsuits. Starting in the 70’s. Just so hard to use the bathroom.
Well this purfit is a hit minus the shoes. The shoes are not feminine in the least and look clunky to me with the outfit. The blazer is great, the jumpsuit looks super…except I’m not personally a fan of wide sweeping legs for the bottom half.
Have an amazing day and week.
Hi Tania,
I love your blog! That being said, this whole outfit is a miss for me. Jumpsuit legs are too wide, blazer is too long, and shoes are too clunky. You are beautiful, but this outfit does you no favors.
Hey Tania ~ Love your blog! This is a miss for me. I like the blazer and the bag but not the jumpsuit or shoes. Too many horizontal lines breaking up your body. Plus you look great with color and this outfit kind of washes you out. Maybe the blazer with black slim pants or jeans and a bright blouse or sweater?
This is a miss. Very unflattering and a jumpsuit is too impractical, especially in a work setting. Thank you for allowing feedback, love your posts!
I really love this outfit. Looks trendy and love the jumpsuit with those cute loafers.
I typically love everything you style but this is a miss for me..the black looks harsh on you, I don’t like the loafers with the outfit and I like the blazer fabric but not with the jumpsuit…all nice pieces but not together
I came home with a pair of shoes with the same security tag. We cut it with wire cutters. No ink spilled out!
I agree. The jump suit looks cheap and the blazer nor loafers belong.
Love most all your posts
Sorry but this look is a miss for me. Don’t like the shoes or the longer blazer with the jumpsuit.
Looking forward to coming fall items .
Hi Tania! Love all your posts and yes I did buy a few things from your Amazon list yesterday which will arrive today, thanks for shopping for us!!!
I’m not a fan of any of this! The jumpsuit might be ok. By itself with a different kind of shoe, maybe a scrappy sandal, but just looks sloppy with this shoe and oversized jacket.
I came home with a security tag before. I went on utube to see how to remove it yourself. It worked! I bet Joe can figure out how to remove it without harming the material
I’m not a fan of this outfit. Maybe it’s the color. Maybe it’s the oversized blazer. I know I don’t like the white ankle between the shoe and pant. Regardless you style so many gorgeous outfits that I love but this one is a no for me.
Probably a Miss for me. I used to wear blazers but not so much anymore. I’m not a fan of the blazer with the wide leg jumpsuit although I like the jumpsuit. I won’t wear them because I use the restroom so many times a day.😆. I like the loafers and would wear them with jeans. I think the wide leg pants look better with heels. Try calling the store before returning the blazer. They might have a solution.😉
Tania. Love your blog. This weeks hit or miss is a miss for me. I think it is the length of the jumpsuit with the oversized blazer that is throwing me off. I’m long in the limbs and it just wouldn’t make me feel put together. Thank you for putting together looks to consider
Like today’s transition outfit, but oh no not those clunky shoes.
Like the jumpsuit and the bag. The long blazer makes your legs look really short. Look at the shot from the back. Not a fan of the shoes.
