Are Helix Mattresses Worth It? My Honest Review of the Midnight Luxe and Dusk Luxe
I never thought I’d get to the age where I’d get excited about a mattress, but here we are! The older I get, the more I realize that a good night’s sleep affects everything. If I don’t sleep well, I’m dragging the next day, I’m a little grumpier than usual, and Joe usually gets to hear about it first. Sound familiar?
Before I get into my full Helix mattress review, I wanted to make sure you know about their 4th of July sale, because this is a great time to buy if a new mattress has been on your list. Right now, you can save up to 30% on Helix through 7/4.
Here’s the easiest way to look at the codes:
Use code ELITE30 for 30% off Elite mattresses.
Use code LUXE25 for 25% off Luxe mattresses.
For everything else, including Core mattresses, pillows, mattress protectors, sheets, and mattress pads, use my code TANIAS for 22% off. That saves you more than the sitewide JULY20 code, and Gurls, we are not leaving that extra 2% sitting on the table. Joe would never recover from the math of it. Lol!
That really hit home after Joe and I took a recent beach vacation. The condo was adorable, the weather was perfect, and we were looking forward to a few relaxing days away together. The only problem was the mattress. Neither one of us slept well the entire trip.
As strange as it sounds, that trip ended up being the push I needed. I realized we’d been talking about replacing our mattress for far too long, and it was finally time to do something about it. Around that same time, I had the opportunity to partner with Helix Sleep, and the timing couldn’t have been better.
Why I Chose Helix Sleep
Shopping for a mattress can feel overwhelming. There are so many brands and so many options that after a while, they all start sounding the same.
One thing I really liked about Helix is that they recognize we’re all different sleepers. Instead of trying to sell everyone the same mattress, they have several models designed around how you actually sleep.
The Helix Sleep Quiz made the whole process so much easier. It asked about my sleeping position, the firmness I like, and a few other questions before recommending the mattresses that would fit us best.
I loved that it took all the guesswork out of shopping. Instead of standing in a mattress store wondering if I was making the right decision, I felt confident that I was choosing something designed for the way we actually sleep.
Which Helix Mattress Is Right for You?
One thing I really liked about Helix is that they don’t believe one mattress is perfect for everyone. We all sleep differently, so it makes sense that we don’t all need the same mattress.
Whether you’re a side sleeper (me), back sleeper (Joe), stomach sleeper, or someone who changes positions all night long, Helix has a mattress designed with your sleep style in mind. They also offer different firmness levels, so you can choose something softer, more supportive, or somewhere in between.
Here’s a quick look at some of their most popular options:
Helix Midnight
The Midnight Luxe is Helix’s most popular mattress and is designed with side sleepers in mind. It offers a nice balance of cushioning and support, making it a great choice for anyone who changes positions during the night.
Helix Dusk
The Dusk Luxe has a slightly firmer feel than the Midnight. If you like more support without giving up comfort, it’s a wonderful middle-ground option.
Helix Sunset
The Sunset is one of the softest mattresses Helix offers. If you love that plush, sink-in feeling or you’re a lightweight side sleeper who wants extra pressure relief around your shoulders and hips, this could be a great fit.
Helix Twilight
If you prefer a firmer mattress or spend most of the night on your back or stomach, the Twilight Luxe offers extra support to help keep your spine aligned.
Helix Moonlight
The Moonlight Luxe is another softer option, but it’s designed to provide a little more responsiveness while still feeling plush and comfortable.
Helix Core vs. Luxe: What’s the Difference?
One thing I learned while shopping is that Helix offers both Core and Luxe mattresses. The Core collection is a great choice if you’re looking for a quality hybrid mattress at a lower price, while the Luxe collection includes extra comfort layers, a taller profile, and premium features for an even more luxurious feel.
We chose the Luxe collection because we wanted the added cushioning and support. Since a mattress is something we use every single night, it felt like an investment that was well worth making.
Which Helix Mattress Did I Choose?
Here’s where my story takes a little turn. After taking the Sleep Quiz, I ordered a King-size Helix Midnight Luxe. The funny thing is, I accidentally ordered a King because that’s the size of the bed we’d been sleeping on upstairs. The problem was, we weren’t even sleeping upstairs anymore!
Our daughter has been dealing with a pretty bad back, so she’d been sleeping downstairs in our California King because it was one of the few beds where she could actually get comfortable.
When the mattress arrived, I looked at Joe and said, “You know what? She needs this more than we do.” Instead of exchanging it, we decided to surprise her with the Helix Midnight Luxe as a housewarming gift. She was thrilled, and we felt good knowing she’d have a mattress that would hopefully help her sleep better.
Not long after that, she started getting her guest room ready for visits from her mother-in-law. Since she’d been so impressed with the Midnight Luxe, we let her have the Helix Dusk Luxe Queen for her guest room so she’d have a comfortable place for guests to sleep.
I guess you could say Helix is slowly becoming the family mattress!
My Honest Helix Mattress Review
After we moved the Midnight Luxe into my daughter’s house, I had the chance to try it out for myself, and I completely understood why it’s one of Helix’s most popular mattresses. The first thing I noticed was how comfortable it felt. It has that wonderful balance of softness and support that can be hard to find. It feels cozy the minute you climb into bed, but you never get that sinking feeling where it’s hard to move around during the night.
The quality also impressed me right away. From the breathable TENCEL™ cover to the supportive ErgoAlign layer, everything about the mattress feels thoughtfully designed. You can tell Helix has put a lot of effort into creating a mattress that’s both comfortable and supportive.
Is a Helix Mattress Worth the Money?
This is probably the biggest question people ask, and after our experience, my answer is yes, especially when they are having a sale.
A mattress isn’t something you replace every year. In fact, most of us keep one much longer than we probably should. When you think about the amount of time you spend in bed, it’s one of the most-used pieces of furniture in your home. Investing in a quality mattress isn’t just about sleeping better; it’s about feeling better throughout the day.
Helix Sleep’s Other Products Worth Knowing
Right now, we’ve only tried the mattresses, but after seeing how impressed our family has been, I’ve definitely got my eye on some of Helix’s other products.
I’d love to try their pillows, sheets, and mattress protector next. If they’re made with the same quality and attention to detail as the mattresses, I have a feeling they’ll fit right in at our house. They also offer bed frames and bases, and my sister actually just got one a while back and absolutely loves it.
How Helix Compares to Other Popular Mattress Brands
If you’ve been shopping for a new mattress, you’ve probably come across brands like Saatva, Purple, and Casper. While each offers something a little different, what stood out to me about Helix was how personalized the experience felt. Instead of trying to choose from dozens of options on my own, the Helix Sleep Quiz helped match us with mattresses based on how we actually sleep.
Purple, the brand we had been using for a long time, is known for its unique grid design. Casper is a popular bed-in-a-box brand, and Saatva is known for its luxury innerspring mattresses. I liked that Helix offers a variety of hybrid mattresses with different comfort levels, so it was easy to find options that fit our family’s needs. For us, that made Helix the right choice.
Ready for Better Sleep?
I know buying a mattress isn’t nearly as much fun as shopping for shoes or a new outfit, but it might be one of the best purchases you make for yourself. Better sleep has a way of making everything else feel a little easier. If you’ve been on the fence about replacing your mattress, I hope this review helps you decide if Helix is the right fit for you.

What to Know Before You Buy a Helix Mattress
Does a Helix mattress need a box spring?
No, you don’t have to have a box spring. Helix mattresses can work with a platform bed, a slatted frame, an adjustable base, or a good, supportive foundation. The main thing is making sure your mattress has proper support underneath it.
How long does a Helix mattress take to expand?
Once you unbox it, the mattress starts expanding pretty quickly. You can usually sleep on it the same day, but it can take up to 24 hours to fully expand. I’d give it a little time to settle before making up your mind.
Is a Helix mattress made in the USA?
Yes! Helix mattresses are designed and assembled in the USA with domestic and imported materials. I always like knowing a little more about where something is made, especially when it’s a bigger purchase.
Can you flip a Helix mattress?
No, you don’t flip it. Helix mattresses are made with the comfort layers on top, so they’re designed to stay that way. You can rotate it every few months to help it wear evenly, but don’t turn it upside down unless you want a very different sleeping experience.
