Bras are the most aggravating things on earth, lol. I’m always searching for a comfortable one, or even better, how not to wear one! My sister swears that built-in bras tend to be more agreeable. Other than sports bras, they are not always great for jogging, but for everyday running around or layering, they work fine. So, after doing some research, I’m sharing some great tops with built-in bras to buy now. Hopefully, there’s something for everyone, including me.

Great Tops With Built-in Bras To Buy Now – Cami

I thought I’d start with a great camisole. I like that this has a built-in, wireless shelf bra, adjustable straps, a scoop neckline, and a slim-fit body. This is perfect as a base layer. I like the width of the straps, not too skinny, not too wide. It comes in all of the colors you’d expect, plus a gorgeous deep green.

Here’s another version of the cami, but this one has a square neckline. Walmart is always an affordable option, and these come two to a pack for around $23 dollars. This is one of those basic items that you should repurchase every year. Throw out those cami’s with stretched and ill-fitting straps!

This is both a camisole and a bralette, and I wouldn’t expect you to wear it out without a shirt over it. I mean, if you want to, we’re not here to judge, lol. But I LOVE the pretty neckline, so I wanted to include it for that alone. So many sweaters have deep necklines where a cami is a must. This would look gorgeous peaking out from underneath. You could even wear this under one of the popular sweatsuit sets trending now. Available in 12 colors!

I’m a fan of tank tops as a great base layer. They are inexpensive and come in so many different colors. This is a basic grey, but it comes in lots of others. Unlike a lot of camis, this has wider straps. I like the look a lot, but keep in mind these aren’t adjustable. Just $11 dollars from Walmart.

Great Tops With Built-in Bras To Buy Now – Sports

Let’s start with the back. Wowzer! This is a workout tank if working out is on your To-Do list, but it can also serve as a base layer. It hits right at the hip and is a crew neck. Wear it to yoga and then throw a cute top or sweater over it and run errands. (The front is also nice -click the link to see other views).

Great Tops With Built-in Bras To Buy Now – T-Shirt

For those of us who don’t feel like having anything tight across our tummies, this flowy tank top would work beautifully. This is great to wear to the gym because it covers the top of my leggings, but I can stay cool. Of course, you could wear it out and about for any casual event. Available in 10 colors and under $25 dollars.

Most built-in bras only have a shelf bra, but I wanted one that was like an “actual” bra. I’m ordering this top because I’m not ready to hit the public with a shelf bra. I usually see built-in bras in camis and tanks, but I was happy to see it in a long-sleeved T-shirt, too! You could wear this as a base layer or alone. It’s available in sizes from XS to XXL and is under $20 dollars. I like the pink for a pop of color, but you can find it in 7 others.

A t-shirt with a built-in bra? Yes, please! This is available in nine colors, and in sizes up to XXXXL. This is described as a sports bra, but I’m not sure how much support it would give for more buxom gurls. The pads are removable if you don’t like the way they look!

Great Tops With Built-in Bras To Buy Now – Compression

This is more shapewear than a shirt, but it’s technically a cami, so I’ve included it. If you want a base layer that includes compression, this would work perfectly. So many camis are scoop or crew neck, so I appreciate that this one is V-neck. It’s available in 5 colors and in sizes up to 3-XL. A nice option at under $20 dollars.

Let me know in the comments what you think. Are you ready to burn your bra and use one of the built-in options?

  1. I really appreciate your posts about bras as I had open heart surgery in 2010, and didn’t wear a bra until I had to go back to work. with that being chesty and gravity and age I need a good bra now! of course I take it off as soon as I home.

  2. So funny 🤣 you posted the need for these as I just opened a pack of two from WalMart. The Danskin brand works great for these.

I like the pads that hide the nips.

My only complaint about this are the straps. Sometimes they are too wide for the top I am wearing. I tried their bralette but the bottom band kept rolling up into my bra line roll. Don’t know any other way to explain it.

    1. I’ve not! But, I have it in my cart now to order. I love these kind of tops to wear when I’m taking photos with a photographer, especially if I’m having to change clothes in front of them.

  5. Delanie Collings says:

Question: which of these do you think will work for a 36-38DD size? I have an awful time finding comfortable bras too. I love the built-in bra idea!

    1. Delanie, I have no idea. My sister wears something like this all the time, but I’ve been afraid to try them.

  6. Torrid plus size bras are nice!

Hi! I’m always looking for great pajamas with built in bras! They are really hard to find! My favs are normally something I’ve found at TJMaxx…..have you ever done a piece on them?

    1. Hmmm, I’ve not seen PJs with built in bras. I need to check that out.

  9. I’ll be honest when I’m at home I don’t wear a bra. I only put one on if I’m going to get visitors. If I use anything at home it’s a bralet or a sports bra. Those built in tank tops would be something I would use in the summer. I wouldn’t have to worry about unexpected visitors. 😊

  10. Thinking hard about a few of these. Bras have become more uncomfortable the older I get. Still searching for the perfect one. Maybe one or more of these will work for certain outfits. Thanks!

  11. Hope you’ll do a review on the long sleeve bra shirt.

  12. I’ve never thought to buy a shirt with a built in bra. Thanks for the great suggestions and choices!

  13. I didn’t know that you could get a t-shirt with a built-in bra. Definitely will try. I have gotten into the habit of not wearing a bra around the house.

  14. This is a great post. I want to try a couple of these!
