I’ve been taking a new approach to loungewear. I doubt if loungewear will ever leave my closet completely since it is so stinking comfortable. But, I want to tweak my loungewear purchases to be more versatile and perform double duties. I want to be able to go from the couch to work in a few easy steps.

There is a whole new category of loungewear, and it is called Luxe Loungewear. While Luxe means expensive or high-quality, that isn’t always the case with loungewear. There are cashmere and silk loungewear items that would fall into that category. The loungewear that I am looking for has to be comfortable, stylish, and LOOK expensive, but it doesn’t have to be expensive.

This loungewear set is an example of what I am talking about. It looks very expensive when it is all dressed up, but it meets my comfortable and stylish criteria also. This outfit is very affordable and elegant looking, and you are bound to get compliments when you wear it.

The grey crewneck sweater vest can be worn alone or as a layering item. I love the ribbed design of the sweater, and the fit is great. I am wearing a size medium in the sweater, and it isn’t tight at all.

Sweater sets are in style right now, so adding the matching wide-leg sweater pants is a must. The gray is the perfect neutral color, and it will go great with other tops beside the vest. I love the pants’ flowy movement, and I think that they hit me at a good length. The ankle length is perfect for flats and sneakers like the Sperry Crest-Vibe ones that I am wearing here. Or, you can add a pair of heels or wedges to the outfit when you want to go to work or out on the town.

I am wearing a size medium in the sweater pants, and they fit me great. The Sperry’s are a size 8 1/2 instead of my usual size 9.

How you go from the couch to work in a few easy steps!

Step one – Accessorize

The first thing that I change when I want to go from the couch to work is my accessories. I will add jewelry, different shoes and grab a handbag. The jewelry that I have on for this look is a geometric pair of hoop earrings and a large multi-chain statement necklace. The necklace cost more than the sweater set, but I’ve worn it so much since I purchased it that I’ve gotten my money’s worth from it.

The G.I.L.I. snakeskin shoes are at least four years old, so they are no longer available. But I wanted to show you how shoes can make a difference in a look. Here are a few similar shoes that would work also.

Quilted leather handbags are the rage and have been for some time. This black Tory Burch bag is one that I’ve had for a couple of years, and it is still available online. The bag feels luxurious, and the convertible crossbody chain with the large black tassel is beautiful. I like that you can carry the bag as a crossbody or convert the chain to carry it on your shoulder or arm.

Here are a few that are similar but at a much lower price point.

Step Two – Add A Statement Piece

To bring the whole look together, I added a black knit blazer that I am loving!!! This longer-length blazer draws the eye’s attention since it is dark and such a large part of the outfit. Every part of this outfit works together to create an overall look that would be great for work, a night out, or heading to an event. Since I am always cold, the blazer gives me the added warmth that I need.

This is the same blazer that I wore in yesterday’s post, and I am wearing a medium. I wore the blazer with a pair of jeans in that post, so you can see how versatile the jacket can be. If you didn’t see that post, be sure to check it out now because I gave some tips on how to look young and modern, even though most of us are over 50.

Step Three – Makeup

If you are lounging around the house, then you might not be wearing makeup. Most days, I apply makeup, even if it is only mascara and blush. However, I don’t leave the house unless it is an emergency without a full face of makeup. In my opinion, I think that makeup gives you a polished look, and in a lot of workplaces, that is almost a requirement.

I like experimenting with makeup, and that includes a lot of different brands. The other day, I decided to do a full-face makeup tutorial using only products found at a drug store. Since I’ve used L Oreal products before and loved the results, I decided to use that brand.

I am celebrating this month because it is Joe’s Birthday month. He told me that I couldn’t make a big deal out of his birthday. I don’t think that announcing for the entire world to see is making a big deal. Lol! So, randomly, each week, I am going to pick a winner for a gift. The gifts will vary in size and price, and I will pick the winner from the comments that I receive during the week.

This week’s winner is…..Deborah!!! Keep commenting, and you might be next week’s winner.

      1. I have a pair of real snake skin booties that I bought in Italy more than 30 years ago. Of course, they have cycled in and out of style several times since then. But, I still love them. (Although the 4″ heel is a bit high for me these days!)

  26. I never would have thought of this. It is a great wardrobe budget booster.

You look fabulous as always. I am new to the site and don’t do Facebook. Do you ever show what you actually wear or do you dress like this all day? I know you can’t possibly keep everything you show the gurls.

Thanks for your inspiration and God’s words

    1. I don’t keep everything, I just can’t. There are times on Instagram “stories” that I show what I am wearing through the day. A lot of times it is what I’ve shown on the blog before, maybe not as dressy unless I am going somewhere.

  27. Karen Miller says:

That looks soooo comfortable! What a great versatile outfit. Love the snakeskin shoes!!
