50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMERI think I just wasted 100.00 dollars. I tried using Lightroom again on this set of pictures. I imported them and cropped, adjusted, etc., and then I uploaded them to my blog post. They were grainy again. Ugh! So, I decided to try uploading the same photos to my normal iPhoto and see if the same graininess would show up on the photos. The ones I edited on iPhoto came out much much better. Well great, I just spent money and a lot of time to find out that what I was doing was working better. Don’t get me wrong, I know it is probably user error but since I am the user I am going to use what works best for me.50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMERI spent Saturday getting a much-needed manicure and pedicure. I haven’t had one in a long time and my fingernails and especially my toenails were looking pretty shabby. These pictures do not have the new nails, these have the shabby ones. Lol! I took my DIL and little Miss Emersyn with me also. Emersyn thinks she is such a big girl when she gets to get her nails done. She picked out purple with sparkles for her toes and a deeper blue with sparkles for her fingernails. The polish on her fingernails is mood polish and is supposed to change colors when the temperature changes. I am sure she will be sticking her fingers in cold or hot water trying to see if it works. Lol! 50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMEROne of my favorite tricks for looking slimmer is adding a long vest. The length makes me look taller and the way it falls in the front makes me look thinner. Win, win!!! Because you can’t see where my sides end you have to guess. I am betting on you guessing wrong. Hahaha! I bought this crocheted vest by Umgee last year. This vest is great to wear with swimsuits as a coverup also.

50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMERI am opening a new Plunder party under the name tania15 so be sure to pick that one if you go shopping for this really, really cute jewelry. I am starting at the top and going down so the first item is the earrings. They are called the Hayden and they look like ivory roses to me. They have a 2-inch drop which is perfect for me. If you notice they just match the carved rose on the long necklace. The shorter necklace is the Ryan. The 18″ necklace is perfect to fill in the deep V of this top. The silver cross is filled with tiny seed beads in that match the beads in the necklace. The long necklace is the Gabbie. This necklace has so much going for it. It has a mixture of chain and beads plus the carved rose and leather fringe. The beads are the perfect colors for upcoming fall, I can’t wait to wear this on a mustard or dark teal top. 50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMERThe Rosa and the Clementine bracelets both match the Gabbie and the Ryan necklaces. The Rosa is the one with the bronze and silver cross and it is adjustable. The Clementine has the tassel with a monogrammed charm and it is on an elastic cord. 50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMERSomeone commented on this post that my items looked lavender. I can see that they do have a funny tint to them but rest assured this purse is a deep taupe or light mushroom color. This is my Dagne Dover tote that I won from R+F so that makes it even more special. BTW, the post that I just linked to above also had a comment on Pinterest that I should never have stepped out the door in that outfit. Lol! I think that my legs must have frightened her. Lol!!!50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMERI choose a neutral shoe to wear with this outfit. I tried to match the vest as close as possible. This is a pair by Isaac Mizrahi that I bought at the overstock store in town last year. They have an espadrille heel (probably about 2″) and are just a little bit higher than a kitten heel. This is a very comfortable and easy to wear heel size for those who don’t like really high heels. This pair has a small bow on the top for some added visual interest.

50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMERNow for this wonderful dress. I just bought it so if you call or email Kim right now you might be able to grab you one too. This is a sleeveless knit dress by Z Supply that I bought from Trendy Threads, a local boutique in town. Click on the link and it will give you the contact information. This dress is so comfortable that I couldn’t wait to put it on. The great thing is that it is a great color for the upcoming fall season. I also bought a wonderful long cardigan that will just match this for when the weather turns cooler. That is the great thing about sleeveless garments, you can wear a jacket, sweater, or cardigan with them and not have to worry about the sleeves “bunching” and creating those ugly humps and bumps.

50 IS NOT OLD | FAVORITE TRICK TO LOOK SLIMMERInstead of my normal R+F post today I am just going to ask for everyone to please say a prayer for Texas and the surrounding states. There are so many people, businesses, and small towns that will are facing incredible hardships. I hate seeing all the pictures of the devastation, it is just heartbreaking.

You know when you put a post on FaceBook you wait to see if you will get any “likes” or “hearts?” That is how I feel about my blog. Leaving a comment and pinning a picture to Pinterest is my equivalent to a “like.” If you share my post on FaceBook that is a “heart.” Show me some love, gurls!!!

  1. Another cute one Tania! You have helped me with being more confident wearing the sleeveless vest/dress combo. Love the colors. This Florida girl is praying for Texas!!!

  2. Hi Tania. I have a question that meds a Southern answer. Not about clothing or Plunder or R + F. I need to know about tomato pie. Apparently this is a Southern thing and I have a whole bunch of tomatoes to use up. Problem is I’ve never had one so I have no idea if a recipe is good or not. Do you or your Southern readers have a good recipe for this?

    1. Susan, I have heard of tomato pie but I have never tried it myself. Maybe some of the other ladies might know about it.

I don’t usually leave comments on blogs or Facebook, but I just felt like I wanted to in this case. I sense that you are sincere in what you’re doing and truly want to be helpful. I just want to say that I appreciate this in you. I went to the post you mentioned with the shorts and truthfully I think you look great. I don’t even know why someone would say that. I see so many bloggers wearing clothes that are way too young for them and I would rather see women wear more classy, age appropriate clothing. My mom would always tell me that just because you CAN wear something doesn’t mean that you SHOULD. It took me a long time to really get the true meaning of this. I will always remember that just because a woman is thin and fit, doesn’t mean she should be wearing what the younger generation is wearing. My mom was a very wise woman! I also want to say that I enjoy your sense of humor! Keep up the good work!

    1. Thank you, Karen. Yes, I am sincere and I do try to be helpful. I love it when I get emails or comments that some of you are inspired by something I said or wore. The comment was left on Pinterest and when I got to looking this same person had left loads of comments on my outfits and very few of them were flattering. Lol! I am not sure why she is following me since she doesn’t seem to like anything I am wearing. Lol!!!

I think this outfit is very fashionable and it looks really great on you. Whoever said you shouldn’t have stepped out the door with it must’ve either been 20 years old or 80 years old. They truly have no clue as to what the styles are for those of us who are 50ish, 60ish, or even 70ish!!! Thank you for inspiring those of us who want to continue to dress with style!

    1. I tried to see who she was just because I was curious and of course she doesn’t have a picture. Lol!

  5. I think your pictures are fine and maybe you’ve gotten a lot of helpful ideas already but PT pictures finally stopped being grainy once I researched resolution. Once I started using the correct res for the application, everything was fine. You might look up some articles about it and see what you think

  6. thanks Tania – Houston is my Home and instead of streets and highways we have rivers.
Everyone is pitching in. Don’t want to be political but this is the USA I know and love.

    1. I had no idea that was where you lived. I hate that for you, I hope you are staying safe. Things can be replaced but lives can’t. BTW, I have a pair of your earrings on today.

  7. Dearest Tania,

You look absolutely beautiful, today! Your dress, on my iPad, looks dusty periwinkle, and your bag, somewhat a dusty lavender. Very soft, very feminine. Love, love, love your vest!

So thoughtful of you to ask for prayers for The Great State of Texas, Houston and all her surrounding areas. God Bless Our Beautiful America!

Hope you have a super good day!

  8. Charlcy Green says:

What a beautiful feminine outfit! Love that best and the jewelry is perfect- as always! I can’t believe someone said that to you in your other post!! How rude! Believe me, you always look stunning! I don’t know how you do it every single day!

    1. Charlcy, that made me laugh. It reminded me of the show, “Full House”, “How Rude!” Lol!!!

  9. Thanks Tania for asking prayers for Texas. I have a lot of friends and my daughter, son in law, and grandbabies are there. Everyone is safe so far. My daughters home is high and dry thank God. They went to her mother in laws because the feeder roads and creek by her home was overflowing and they wouldn’t have been able to get out. They have a circus~4 adults, 4 dogs, 2 kids, and my son in law added and a partridge in a pear tree. LOL I live in Lake Charles, La and we are getting heavy rains today. So this is not over yet. Supposed to have rain all week. Thanks for the prayers. Please PRAY hard for the Texas area. They are going to have a long recovery ahead.

  10. Super Cute outfit today ! Love all the jewelry ? Praying for everyone in Texas?

  11. Debbie B. says:

Thanks for the prayers for Texas! This has been an unbelievable storm, and it continues. We have had a ton of rain, but are safe, while there are many others who are not. Please continue to keep them in your prayers!

  12. Fantastic! A home run!

  13. Tania you knocked it out of the park this morning absolutely lovely!

  14. Thanks for your shoutout for Texas! We are in the midst of the worst tropical storm event that has occurred in our lifetime. While my family personally is safe and dry, so many of my fellow Houstonians are facing the biggest challenges they have ever seen. My heart and prayers goes out to all! This will change the face of Houston for many years. For a major city to have so many displaced persons is unfathomable. And it is not done yet. There is still a down-graded ‘Tropical Storm Harvey’ churning out more distruction this morning. And it is not yet daylight! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, but please contact The Red Cross or your other favorites charities and add a small donation. The cost of this storm may be the biggest that has ever occurred in our beautiful country.

  15. Maxine Bower says:

Thanks for prayers and please keep them coming. My daughters homes are ok(Rockport). But this isn’t over.?

  16. Peggy Gregory says:

Continued prayers for Texas. I wish I had an overstock store in my town!

  17. Continued prayers for Texas!

You look very slender in this outfit! I love everything about it. Classy and sassy!!

  18. You look great in that outfit! Shame on the keyboard warrior for criticizing you. My step daughter is in Austin…very wet and windy for her. She’s a nurse so she might see longer hours in the next few weeks. Prayers to the Texans!

  19. I love this outfit, looks great!

  20. Love everything about today’s post! I love a long vest, like you said, it does make a person look long and lean, gotta love that! I think I am going to have to find a similar style! Looking gorgeous as usual! My heart just breaks for Texas ?

  21. Christi jo says:

I love your blog….it is giving me some great ideas!

  22. Sending prayers to Texas from Canada! My husband and I have been watching the news all weekend and our hearts go out to you! Tania, you look great in this as usual. I have noticed that about long vests and I have a few. Your pictures are clear although a little lavender/bluish on my device.

  23. Lezlie Davis says:

I love this outfit! Because of you, I’ve started buying some sleeveless tops and cardigans. I didn’t even look at them before. Thanks for your prayers for Texas. We live in the panhandle, but I’m just heartbroken by everything I see. ??

  24. I wore a similar outfit on the first day of school! I also wore an Umgee vest and the shorter Ryan necklace! I need the earrings though. You look great!!
Thank you for the prayers for Texas. My son and I evacuated to North Texas from the Corpus Christi area. My husband was working in a refinery on the coastline in Corpus when it hit. Refinery workers are called in and must stay during hurricanes. We were terrified for him! But he is safe. The hurricane was supposed to hover over our tiny town north of Corpus, but moved 30 miles to the east and did extensive damage to that area. And now Houston is getting the record breaking flooding. I am staying put due to the rain and the fact that I would go home to a house without power. Very greatful I could leave as many people did not or couldn’t. Houston was caught off guard for sure!!
Thank you again for the prayers for Texas! We need them!!
    Paula from Texas

    1. Hey there Paula! I’m in the North Texas area and if there’s anything you need I’ll do what I can to help; email me at busymomintc@yahoo.com. My family and I are supposed to head down to Galveston next Friday for a cruise; we’ll see if that still happens.

Thank you Tania for the thoughts and prayers for those impacted by Harvey. Us Texans are no doubt resilient but this is a tough one that will take awhile to recover from.

  25. I have to give myself a manicure too!! It looks awfull! Luckely you dont!???
