If we are friends on Facebook you have probably already seen me talk about this issue. The issue is insurance or really the rising cost of insurance. I got a letter telling me that our Insurance coverage was changing. Big surprise. The plan we were on was not great but it was sufficient. It had a 2300 deductible and was 80/20 all that for the low, low price of 1490.00/month. The letter states that this coverage is no longer available and the next plan would be to have a 5500 deductible and a 75/25 coverage. For less coverage and almost double deductible, the price was going to raise around 600.00 per month. ?This is crazy!!! How in the world can people afford healthcare at this rate? My sister joined Samaritan Ministries a couple of years ago as an alternative to traditional insurance. She likes this ministry and has no complaints. However, she also has not had to place a claim yet. A blog reader/friend mentioned that she has recently signed up with Lincoln Heathshare and that she had friends who really liked this ministry as well. I am looking into both of these alternatives and would really appreciate it if any of you have any insight into either of these companies that you would like to share. I do like the idea of people helping people but it is also scary since it is not what we are used to. Dang, that whole out of my comfort zone thing.I know that wasn’t my normal light-hearted story on my blog post, so….. what’s the difference between a Hippo and a Zippo? One is heavier and the other is a little lighter. Lol!!!! I can’t help it, I crack myself up. Onward to the post, today I have a cashmere open cardigan on. This is a basic tan color and will go with a huge amount of outfits. It is getting cooler outside but it is not COLD yet. I love a cardigan to take the chill off and also to hide the fact that I have on a sleeveless top but we will talk about that later. This cardigan is made by Isaac Mizrahi and I like the open front design. The lapels are very oversized and they tend to flap back and forth. Lol! I couldn’t get a picture of them looking the same at once. Lol!
Give me some cute leather jewelry anytime! I have never been a “diamonds” kind of girl. I like diamonds but I love my costume jewelry. I think the issue is that I like to change my look from day to day. I always wear the same two rings but I like to change EVERYTHING else on a daily basis. The Addison earrings are extremely lightweight even though they are made of metal. The Rhiannon necklace has been a fall staple for me. I just can’t get enough of it this fall. I think I am in a styling rut, maybe it is like comfort food. I am falling back on items that make me comfortable. The Ashlyn bracelet is hardly visible on my right arm. It is gold and cream beads with gold dangles. It is on an elastic band for easy on and off. The Celine bracelet on my right arm has a monogram dangle which you can see better in the picture below. I love monogram jewelry. I normally get my last name as the initial because then my daughter and dil can wear them. Maybe that is why you would want to get your first initial instead. LOL!!!The suede Dooney & Bourke purse is perfect for fall. It is suede which is a material that I associate with fall. It is a great neutral and will go with anything so those of you who hate to change purses, this would perfect for you. There are spans of time when I want to carry the same purse but I try to change it up for you ladies. The sacrifices I make for you. Lol!!
I almost forgot to talk about my sleeveless top. This is one that I bought at a boutique and it is by Umgee. I never put my summer clothing away when the seasons change. If they can be worn with a cardigan, a pull on sweater, or a jacket then I will still wear them. I don’t like to limit my wardrobe if I don’t have to. My jeans are from Kut from the Kloth and they are the Diana style. I am a fan of dark navy denim and also skinny jeans. That makes this pair practically perfect in every way. Lol! I know that all of you are not fans of skinny jeans so I will link to a couple of other styles that might catch your fancy.
Today’s thankful alphabet letter is “H.” I am finding that I am paying more and more attention to things that I am thankful for throughout the day. I like this newly found trait. So, today I am thankful for my House. It is not the biggest or the fanciest but it is warm and toasty. I am also thankful for my hair. Lol! In the winter time, I know several men who wish they had some because their heads are cold.

Tania my jaw dropped to the floor this morning when I read how much you pay a month for your health insurance ….. I guess here in Canada we are so blessed to have Medicare, and we often take it for granted. Before I retired , I had on our medical insurance and it was roughly 86.00 per month with 80% coverage…..after I retired we had to take on a medical plan and it went to 265.00 per month and I thought that was terrible, I truly have nothing to complain about. My word for the day is Happy…..happy we don’t have to pay that much ! Between car insurances, house insurances, we are insurance poor enough…lol…..Hope you are able to find a better solution!
I would love to hear the response from the insurance question. We have been dealing with this for over a year. It’s insane. We have been doing self-pay just so I can continue to use my same doctors. It’s especially hard when you have medical issues and have had for years, then are told you can no longer use those doctors AND are being price gouged on your insurance.
Insurance just starts me to boil?. My company plan for the last several years sets your premiums on if you are overweight, smoker or been treated for a mental illness! Yes I retired from one of the largest public utility in our state! I found this discriminatory but it has been this way for the last several years. And overweight is a a BMI 30 or above?.
Love the top you have on today. Fun and young?. “Home” is my H word. May be “hectic” some days, but can’t imagine anything different.
We are looking into Liberty Healthshare at this time and I have compared three other sharing ministries available. It looks good to me compared to some others!
Hi!!!! YOU lift me! While, although, I’m sorry about your insurance quandary, I’m HAPPY that you and Joe are SO smart and such HARD workers that you can pay for HEALTH insurance!
I ❤️ You! You have such a HUGE HEART!!
My Sweet HUBBY has been in the hospital since last Wednesday. Complications from his surgery. Hopefully, he gets out today and may feel okay for Thanksgiving. HOPE!! Heartfelt gratitude for this day! Heartfelt gratitude for YOU!!
YOU lift me! You have such a darling sense of humor! YOU make my day even better!
Insurance and taxes are some of the things we have to deal with in life and they both stink, but you have to have it or deal with it! I feel very fortunate that my husband’s insurance is pretty good. So sorry you are having to deal with this Tania!
On a happier note, love the outfit. I want to order the Rhiannon necklace, I have the earrings that match and love them.
My “H” that I am thankful for is my home as well. I am pretty much a homebody and love decorating and spending time in my home!
Happy Monday!
Love all your outfits and fashion sense! We are in the same boat with insurance – premium increasing to $2,200 / month except our deductible will be $13,000! As such, we will not be able to afford to have insurance come January 1st. Hope someone can fix this problem soon! No one in Washington seems to be listening . . .
Love this look and esp your comment regarding not putting your summer tops away – do the same thing. Re insurance, it seems to have taken a few years for main stream, regular folks, to grasp the insurance situation – for many folks it’s ‘have health insurance, can’t use it – deductibles and co pays are too high.’ It is really hard on families with children. Many are not taking their kids to the doctor, when they should. Many, as some close friends of mine, are not able to have needed surgery, like cataract, back, etc. because the deductible is too high.
Candace, I have seen people do the same thing. They don’t go to the doctor because of the deductible. Unfortunately, sometimes the illness can get really bad and then be crazy expensive once they do go.
Wow after reading your post and other comments I think I should change what I’m most thankful for to my Healthcare plan. I worked in the public sector for years and though the pay wasn’t great our health benefits were the best. Now on Medicare but our supplemental is manageable. I am truly thankful for this benefit!
I thought about healthcare in the middle of the night. I am thankful that I can manage to pay the premiums if we have to but it is just not right. That is way too much for people to have to pay.

You must be self employed our health Ins is going to 1800. A month ?
No, we are not self-employed but our employer does not offer insurance. They are just too small.
