Everyday Style from Old Navy: Easy, Affordable Looks You’ll Love
A Petite-Sized Try-On You Can Actually See Yourself In
Once again, my daughter-in-law, Stephanie, is doing a try-on haul for everyone to enjoy. She is 5’3″, so technically petite, even though she doesn’t always shop in the petite section. Like many of you, she finds herself somewhere in the middle: wanting comfort, but still wanting to look put together. Plus, wanting affordable pieces that don’t look too young, or too frumpy.
So today, Stephanie is sharing a full try-on from Old Navy with easy outfits you can mix and match through the week. She has included notes on how everything fits, how she styled each piece, and what works (or doesn’t) on a petite frame. I hope you enjoy this try-on of everyday style from Old Navy.
Take it away, Stephanie!
Easy Summer Dresses That Flatter
Linen-Blend Midi Dress

This Midi Dress was love at first try-on. It’s lightweight and breezy, with wide straps that make it totally bra-friendly. The length hits a few inches below the knee on me, not too long, not too short, and the fit through the waist gives it a shape without clinging.
Stephanie’s Tip: Midi dresses can sometimes overwhelm petites, but the cut of this one helps it drape just right. I added the woven mules for a touch of polish without needing a heel.
Above the Knee Denim Dress

This Denim Dress has the perfect casual vibe. It’s structured enough to hold its shape but soft enough to feel lived-in. I loved that the above-the-knee hem didn’t cut me off or feel too short. It would be cute with sneakers too, but I opted for the Faux-Leather Mules and Sun Hat to dress it up a bit.
Stephanie’s Tip: A straight, above-the-knee dress like this gives you legs-for-days without having to show too much.
Everyday Denim You’ll Actually Want to Wear
Straight Ankle Jeans and A Crop T-Shirt

I wasn’t sure about this Crop T-Shirt at first, but now I want one in every color. It hits perfectly at the top of these high-rise jeans without showing skin, just enough to keep your proportions in check. The OG Straight Ankle Jeans are a safe bet if you’re petite and want something classic with a little structure.
Stephanie’s Tip: Cropped doesn’t have to mean bare midriff! On petite frames, a slightly cropped tee can keep the outfit balanced and legs looking longer.
Barrel Ankle Jeans And A Puff-Sleeve Sweater

This Puff-Sleeve Sweater added a feminine touch without going overboard. I paired it with Barrel Jeans, which I already own, and they totally work! They’re roomy in the thigh and taper at the ankle, which gives a flattering shape without overwhelming my frame.
Stephanie’s Tip: When your jeans have volume, make sure your top is more tailored or tucked. It keeps you from getting lost in the outfit.
Boyfriend Straight Jeans And A Striped T-Shirt

This combo felt effortlessly classic. The medium Striped T-Shirt gave me a bit of room without being baggy, and these Boyfriend Straight Jeans were the real star. They have a slouchy-but-not-sloppy fit and hit me right at the ankle, no hemming needed!
Stephanie’s Tip: When wearing looser jeans as a petite, I like to keep the top half clean and semi-fitted. A tucked-in or front-tucked tee does the trick.
Button-Fly Straight Ankle Jeans And A Button-Down Oxford Cropped Shirt

This outfit feels sharp but effortless. The cropped button-down hits right above the waistband of the jeans and gives just a peek of shape. The fabric is crisp but comfortable, and I could easily wear this running errands or out to lunch.
Stephanie’s Tip: Cropped button-downs are a petite girl’s friend, no extra fabric to tuck in, and no weird bunching at the waist.

Cozy Sets & Layers You’ll Want to Live In
Half-Zip Sweatshirt And High-Waisted Joggers

This set was so soft and comfy! The Fleece Half-Zip Sweatshirt has a relaxed, roomy fit and works great with joggers or jeans. The SleekTech Joggers are more polished than traditional sweats, kind of like if yoga pants and joggers had a baby. I sized down in the joggers for a slimmer fit.
Stephanie’s Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix and match your fleece pieces. A fitted jogger with a half-zip pullover keeps the whole look sleek.
Open-Front Wrap And High-Waisted Joggers

This Open-Front Wrap is a winner. It’s lightweight and flowy but still layers nicely. I wore it with the same SleekTech Joggers and sneakers, and it instantly made the outfit feel intentional, like something you could wear for errands or travel and still feel put together.
Stephanie’s Tip: Layering with a wrap or long cardigan works best when the base pieces are more fitted. It keeps your shape defined without bulk.
Fleece Pullover Sweatshirt And A Fleece Jogger Sweatpants

This outfit feels like a cozy weekend uniform. The bounce fleece has that pillowy, cloud-like feel that makes you want to keep it on all day. I sized down in the Pullover Sweatshirt and up in the Jogger Sweatpants for a looser fit on the bottom.
Stephanie’s Tip: If your fleece top is oversized, try cuffing the sleeves or doing a partial front tuck, it helps break up the shape and gives your outfit more polish.
Final Thoughts on Everyday Style from Old Navy
These Old Navy pieces are just easy, easy to wear, easy to mix and match, and easy to feel good in. I was genuinely impressed by how many petite-friendly options worked right off the rack, no hemming or fussing required.
Whether you’re running errands, heading out to lunch, or just trying to build a wardrobe that feels current but comfortable, I hope these looks gave you some helpful ideas. Let me know which one’s your favorite, or if there’s a piece you want me to try next time!

I’m 5’3″ tall and would love to see more fashion hauls by Stephanie! I like her style even though I’m old enough to be her mother.

Really enjoyed this try-on haul with the videos. Being 5’3” myself I found Stephanie’s tips helpful. I was watching the video while waiting in the doctor’s office and dropped by Old Navy after the visit and bought the jeans dress.
Found it:) I really like the jeans.

Great post!!
😊 I have Old Navy leisure from winter. I have the same sweatshirt and joggers. I order petites in the pants but regular in the sweatshirt since it’s short. I’m 5’2 and it fits good.
