DRAB OR COLORFUL, WHICH LOOK WOULD YOU CHOOSE
You might have noticed over the past few posts that I am doing more walking. Sometimes I am walking in front of my house, and sometimes I am walking when I am on a photoshoot. For some reason, the parking spots never seem to be where I want to take photos. Pavement and parking spot lines don’t make for pretty photos. Lol!
So, I look for areas that have visual interest and shade. You have to have shade to take good photos. Bright sunny days will cause harsh shadows and squinty eyes. Once again, not good for photos. This spot was only about ten to fifteen feet off of the pavement, but it looks like I hiked for miles to get to this serene-looking spot.
Because I am wearing a tropical t-shirt, I thought a jungle-looking setting would work out great. There aren’t any Lions or Tigers lurking around, but there are plenty of Deer, Elk, and Bears. Hannah, the girl taking my photos, was a little spooked at every little noise we heard. I told her that she didn’t have to outrun a Bear, she only had to outrun me. Lol! Her response…NO PROBLEM! Hahaha
Well, shoot! I loved this tropical tee enough to style it 2 different ways, but it has completely sold out. That hardly ever happens, so that tells me how popular the tee was. Let me link to some other cute tees for you instead.
I love these olive cargo shorts from Chicos. Olive is not a color that I normally choose to wear, but these cargo shorts were exactly what I was looking for. The olive shade is a great neutral, and I ended up liking it way better than I thought that I would. I really like the 9.5 inseam and I don’t think they look too long or frumpy. Sometimes, longer shorts can look frumpy or matronly, but this pair looks fabulous. I am wearing a size 1, which is my normal size for Chico’s even though I wear a size 10 everywhere else.
Let’s face it, Olive is called “drab” for a reason. So, I thought that I would see if you might like these wild mulberry ankle pants instead of the shorts. These are the So Slimming Brigitte Slit-Hem Ankle Pants, and they come in several colors. I couldn’t resist the vibrant colors of these pants, and they fit great too.
These ankle pants look great with flats or heels, and the So Slimming technology helps to hold you in where we need it most; the belly region. The pants are a pull-on style with an elastic waistband, but they don’t look frumpy either. Elastic waistbands usually have puckers and make your stomach look larger, but these don’t. They lay flat and actually hold you in. I am wearing my usual size 1, and they fit me great.
Here is a close-up look at the slit-hem of the pants and the 3 little buttons detail. The neutral-colored espadrille doesn’t compete with the mulberry pants, and that is the plan. The flax color is the perfect neutral color, but the shoes come in a couple of other colors also. The shoes run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 9

I love both outfits, but always lean toward brighter. I don’t often wear olive either, but for some reason I’m drawn to it in shorts or pants, never as a top. I agree it is a good neutral. Those bright pants though…they’re the bomb!
Love both outfits but the orchid pants really pop with the t-shirt so that’s my favorite!!! You look wonderful, your walking really agrees with you!!!
I loved both outfits! The top looks great with the olive shorts and the mulberry pants! In the heat of SC, the shorts would be more practical! I really like the white sandals. Where do they come from?
Both outfits are very pretty. I learned that olive or sage green both go well with almost anything. (I’m not a lover of green normally.) You look wonderful in either!
I loved the photo shoot. Being beautiful takes work. Appreciate what you do. You look beautiful in all of them.
Where did those skirts come from? Loved the pants on you too.
Love the top-especially with the beautiful color of the pants! I enjoyed watching your photo shoot. Wow – what a lot of work you put into it. Thank you so much.
Really enjoyed the video. You are Superwoman!
Loved all the outfits today. I’m thinking of ordering the Brigette 10 inch shorts from Chico’s. Are they more on the frumpy side or ok?
Love the video! Thanks for taking us along. Is this at your new house area or in Grundy? It is gorgeous!
This video was taken in Grundy.
Loved all the outfits today! I’m thinking of ordering the 10 inch Bridgette shorts from Chico’s. Are they a bit more on the frumpy side or ok?
The Bridgette shorts are NOT frumpy. The slim legs make them look polished and slightly dressy. I have several of them.
I actually like both outfit ideas and feel they serve two different purposes.
Olive & Pink are two of my favorite colors!
🌸Smiles, BRC
Olive is growing on me. I actually bought an olive safari jacket and I like it!
Loved the mulberry pants on you!!
Isn’t that a beautiful color?
I like the outfit with the bright slacks. You look great in shorts or slacks. Take care
Thanks for letting me know. I love the bright slacks also.
Off to look at the Chico’s sale! BTW, what are the sandals you are wearing with the cargo shorts, they are really cute.
I’ll link to those soon. Let me see if I can find a link for them.
Don’t know how you can call the first outfit DRAB!!!
Liz, I didn’t mean that the outfit was drab, I have always heard olive referred to as “olive drab”
Love the VLOG! Looks like a lot of work. Thank you for the content you bring us every day!!
It is more work than you would think. Lol!
Love the last outfit! Those bright pants really make the outfit.
I loved the bright-colored pants too!
Loved the photo shoot video!!
It is definitely not glamorous. Lol!
Could you link the slip-on shoes in the top photo, please? Thanks!
Trish, I’ll try to see if I can get you that link.
I love that last outfit on the vlog. Have you already shared it with us?
No, it hasn’t been on the blog yet. But, I put the links on the video.
You are so cute – loved the video.
Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
