So many of you leave comments like, “you look good in anything,” or “you always look good in everything that you wear.” Well, that is not the case, and there are times when I take photos and then trash the entire bunch because they look terrible. Here is what I can tell you….your mirror will lie to you. I can look in the mirror, and an outfit looks fine to me, but when I see the photos, I cringe and decide to start all over again.                                                     Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a leopard print blouse with black ankle pants with leopard print heels

These photos are some that I wasn’t happy with after I saw the pictures. It isn’t that the items don’t go together; it is that I wish I had tried something else instead. It is too blah, too plain, and too dark. My reason for showing you these photos is because I wanted to show you that fashion and getting dressed every day is difficult for everybody. We all have bad hair days, and we all have bad outfit days. The key is to realize that you should have done something different and then try again. Next time, I would wear a pair of jeans with the blouse, and go more casual.

I like the leopard print blouse, but I don’t LOVE the blouse. It might be the background beige color, or it might be that I think the large leopard print is too busy. But, when I look at the blouse on the website, I like it, so it might just be that the black is too dark and stark for the blouse. Anyhow, I am wearing a size medium, and it fits fine. However, it is also limited in sizing, so I’ll link to some other items that I like instead.

I liked these So Slimming pants, but I messed up and ordered the wrong size. I know that I usually wear a size .5 when I order from Chico’s, but I let my mind tell me that these were dress pants and that I needed to size up instead. That was a horrible mistake because the pants look too big and baggy. But, I love the pants, so don’t let the fact that I picked the wrong size keep you from checking these pants out. I love the slit zippers in the front, and I love the seam down the leg. Plus, the ankle-length is a flattering length, and you can wear a lot of different shoes with this length. This length looks great with heels, flats and loafers, and boots, making it very versatile.

I love leopard print, and I love heels, so these Sam Edelman shoes are perfect for me. Leopard print is not going anywhere, and it will be worn for years to come, so investing in a cute pair of leopard print shoes is not silly. You will be able to look stylish with jeans, pants, leggings, dresses, and skirts, and this print will keep you looking young and modern. This pair of heels have been sold out for months, but there are tons of leopard print options out there for you.

Adding my Vince Camuto lambskin leather tote handbag brings the gold out in the top and shoes. I love this tote, and you see me carrying it all of the time. I love the tote so much because it is soft, very nice quality, has plenty of room, and looks so luxurious when you carry it. This tote elevates any look you pair it with, but you can also carry it with jeans. Other than my Louis Vuitton handbags, this is probably my favorite bag that I’ve bought. That should tell you how much I love this bag.

Oh my….I loved the outfit on you!! Sass – the take on the leopard print blouse and Class – the traditional leopard print heels. Everyone needs a few neutral outfits to round out a wardrobe! Love your blog

  2. The blouse is really “cool,” but as others have said, I think it’s just the dull background color that is off. My first impression was, that blouse would look great in hot pink or red! I don’t think it would look good with jeans. I like the black pants with it.
I struggle with getting the right accessories together; whether it’s a scarf, a necklace, shoes or even outerwear. But, it’s still fun!

I actually really liked that outfit on you; you look sleek and chic without seeming to have tried too hard. The whimsical print of the blouse stands out and softens the black while the leopard pumps and stylish bag make the whole outfit pop. Maybe a bit more blush and a brighter lipstick might have made you feel less washed out.

I’m so glad you said that about your mirror will lie to you! How many times have I thought ok, then I’ll be in a photo and go What?! Pictures don’t lie!

  5. The top is so cute…but against your fair skin and blonde hair, well you do look washed out. My hair is a mix of blonde and silver so I really have to watch my colors. I will put together an outfit and get it approved by my mirror then take a photo to remember it. I will reference back to my photo “closet” often and sometimes I think it looks worse in the photo, so I know what you mean. Have a wonderful week:)

I think the blouse looks good on you, however I think it would look better with light-colored pants — think ivory or off white. I think the light color would make the color of the blouse pop and not make you look washed out. It’s very fun and stylish, but not so much that you couldn’t wear it to the office or business meeting.

  7. I think your outfit, including the fit of the pants, is perfect for a business lunch or dinner. The subdued, yet creative mix of prints with a professional flair, totally works if having a meeting and a meal to discuss business with clients or potential clients.

  8. Tania, I’m curious to know if you’ve ever had your color analysis done (spring, summer, winter, fall)? This might be an interesting thing to share with us. For example, I’m a “Cool Bright Medium Summer,” so I look best in bright cool pastel colors (such as turquoise, hot pink, purples, etc. and look bad in orange, yellow, and beige). BTW, I usually know a color is right for me if it looks good on me when I don’t have makeup on. If it does, then I just might look fabulous with makeup on! Lol!

The blouse is quite nice, but not your color. This is a mistake I often have made in the past. You make it work with your choice of cardigan because you have a special gift of knowing how to put an outfit together.

  10. Well, just goes to show that beauty is in the eye of the beholder as I think this is a nice, low key outfit on you! The blouse looks a little big but otherwise I think it’s a nice understated look!

    1. Barbara, it is understated. It isn’t that the outfit is horrible, it just isn’t a homerun. I prefer to show looks that I love, but this isn’t one of them.

    2. Carol Kuzilik says:

I actually like the blouse itself but I like a lot of things I shouldn’t wear! My biggest issue is shoes. I have to wear shoes that are supportive. Not the thick soled type, but just overall support. I haven’t found a good source for a dressier shoe. So, a lot of the time my outfit starts with the shoe!
