DECIDING WHAT TO WEAR SO I LOVE THE WAY I LOOK
Let me take you on a journey today. This is how I choose outfits and how I decide what I am going to wear every day. Hardly ever do I wear what I “think” that I will wear when I start getting ready in the mornings. I’ve learned that I have to have a starting point and then let it evolve from there.
My starting point was these gorgeous midnight orchid Bermuda shorts. I have loved this orchid color lately, so I couldn’t wait to wear these once they arrived.
I love the longer length of Bermuda shorts; these are 12″ long. If you are petite, here is that version for you. I like that these cover so much of my thighs, but I added a pair of Sketchers sandals for some height.
If you have ever tried Sketchers before, then you know how lightweight and comfortable these wedge slide sandals are! When I put them on for the first time, my foot just sank into the footbed. There aren’t many shoes that are this comfortable right out of the box. I am wearing my normal size 9, and they fit great.
Here is a look at the pockets on the shorts that feature a zipper closure. I love the ombre design of this v-neck tee. The tee has a relaxed design (doesn’t show lumps and bumps), and the short sleeves are a dolman style. I really like the tee’s fit, and since it is a relaxed style, I can wear the medium. The tee is available in several other colors and prints, but this is my favorite. Also, the tee does come in petite sizes.
Even though the ombre tee looked great with the Bermuda shorts, I wanted to try something different. So, this is how the process begins. Off with the ombre top and Sketchers, and on with a button-up blouse and espadrille wedges.
Look at how the orchid color in the Kut From The Kloth blouse pops once I paired it with these shorts!
The blouse is very lightweight and pretty thin, so some of you might opt to wear a camisole under it. I didn’t think that I needed to, but it is an option. Here is the length of the blouse from the back.
I love button-up blouses because of their versatility. You can wear them like this, tied it the front, tucked in, under a cardigan or blazer, or open with another top under them. These are great for taking on trips since you can wear them in so many ways.
I am wearing a large blouse, and the fit is spot on. The sizes are very limited in “this” print, but there are seven print options for you to choose from, so you should be able to find one in your size.
Espadrilles are my favorite thing to wear in the summer. I love the sisal twine/rope material, and it looks so summery. I have several espadrille wedges, but I didn’t have a neutral-colored pair. Neutrals are great for the summer, especially when you wear shorts, crops, dresses, etc. since they help elongate your legs. I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they fit great.
I mentioned that I recently bought this handbag, and here is a photo of it. The bag looks a lot like my Tory Burch Ella canvas tote but at almost $400 savings! This bag is not quite as large as the Ella, and the trim is not leather. But, at only $40, you can’t beat the price, and it looks great.
Here is a photo of the two bags together, but don’t ask about the dress. It will be on the blog soon. Lol!!!
Once I got back from the photoshoot, I changed clothes and started working on editing the photos.
The minute that I put on my Elosie Jag Jeans, I knew that I had to show you this look. This casual look might even be my favorite with the floral blouse. These jeans are so comfortable, I will even wear these while traveling, and that is saying a lot!
I am linking several different retailers that are carrying these jeans since each one has different sizes available. However, I did size down to an 8 instead of my usual size 10, and they fit me perfectly.
This photo shows how thin the blouse is since you can see the jeans showing through. But I still don’t think I will wear a camisole under it since you can actually “see” anything. Thin doesn’t equal see-through. Lol!
Anyway, this is how my outfits evolve. First, I try something and then switch things around until I am happy. Now…which look is YOUR favorite?

I love the Jag jeans! Gorgeous!
Looking so cool! I love your style. I am so inspired by your look and can’t wait to try this. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Love, love, love all the outfits! And your hair, of course is so cute! My problems is what to put on my feet? I always struggle so much with this! The color, the height, the type of shoe. Is there some “formula” you use?
Mary, that is my biggest struggle also. Shoes have never been my thing, so I don’t know how to wear them correctly.
You’re so cute and fun! Your personality really comes through in your posts. I’m sure your people love you.
At 5’4″ bermudas are not easy to pull off. They look good with the heels though in this post. Maybe that’s the answer🤔
All of the outfits are so cute and look great on you. My fav is the first one with the ombre shirt. The jeans look good too but here in South Texas, ugh, too hot for this girl. Thank you for the scripture, and yes, to God goes the glory!
Love the outfits and love that you have changed locations of your photos! i really enjoy your post!
I am loving taking photos in other spots, but it is really hard when the sun is shinning so bright. Plus, when it gets cold weather, I am not sure that I’ll be able to still go on location.
Love the Sketchers sandles. I bought that same pair and loved them so much I ordered another pair in black. The black ones have different straps but the same heel and both are so very comfortable.
I can understand why you bought another pair. When something is that comfortable and cute, I will buy multiples also.
Cute! Cute! Cute!!! I only wish my feet weren’t so skinny. Hard for me to find narrow shoes. I can barely wear any type of heel as they hurt my little feet bones. FYI – I love all the adorable shoes you wear!
Oh no! I hate it when it is hard to find clothing or shoes. My daughter has a narrow foot also, so I know how hard finding shoes can be.
My favorite = blouse with jeans – definitely. 😉
That was my favorite too!
Great outfits but I think my favorite was the jeans and blouse with the espadrilles. Can’t wait to see that cute dress on the blog.
Cute outfits. Probably liked the jeans and blouse the best. But I can’t stand jeans when it’s hot. Lol.
I didn’t mind this pair, but skinny jeans are too hot for me in the summer.
I’m hoping to have the dress on the blog tomorrow.
I have to admit I liked the first outfit the best, but it was 100 degrees here yesterday so anything with more coverage makes me sweat!
Paige, I do understand what you mean. It doesn’t usually get that hot here in Virginia.
Love all three outfits. Each makes you look slim. The jeans are a nice alternative to skinny. I would wear a cami with the blouse.
Skinny jeans are just too hot for me in the summer, but these are fine.
Love everything about the jeans outfit!!!
Thanks, Lori!
This was a fun process! I agree with you those shorts are a fun color. I love color. My favorite outfit was the Bermuda shorts with button up top. I could see my self wearing that one with shirt tied in front. I also loved the shoes and purse you paired with that outfit. It’s too warm for my brain to even like the jean outfit right now. But I love the color of the jeans.
There are times when the process is every longer. Lol!
Love the shirt with the shorts but I think my favorite is the blouse with the jeans. That orchid color is so pretty!
Yep, that was my favorite outfit also.
I love sketchers. I’m all for cork and rope too. I think I like the jeans with the blouse. It neutralizes the look. I do like the color but I think I’d rather a white top with the shorts. I am a no drama mama when it comes to color. You, on the other hand have the contrast in your own coloring so you can wear it.
I do love wearing lots of colors, but the jeans outfit was still my favorite.
My favorite outfit is the jeans and blouse. One of your very best looks and just my style.
I loved that outfit also!
I just ordered the Skechers wedge sandals. I seem to get blisters every time I get new shoes, so I am hoping these will be good out of the box. I do love Skechers!
I’m hoping that you like them, Arna!
The orchid outfit is definitely me! You look great in the jeans and blouse too! Very slimming.
I love the orchid-colored shorts!
I’m glad you showed the purses side by side. I may need to get the target one now. I love the floral shirt 😍
I thought that everyone would like seeing the two together!
I like the first outfit-the tee shirt and shorts. The others are nice, but thdd at t one just speaks summer to me. Love the purse, too.
I thought the tee was so cute!
Love the blouse with floral top and jeans makes you look long and lean.
And the shorts are a beautiful color.
I thought the jeans made me look really tall too!
Love both outfits.
The jeans look so comfy.
The jeans ARE so comfy!
