DECIDING WHAT TO WEAR SO I LOVE THE WAY I LOOK
Let me take you on a journey today. This is how I choose outfits and how I decide what I am going to wear every day. Hardly ever do I wear what I “think” that I will wear when I start getting ready in the mornings. I’ve learned that I have to have a starting point and then let it evolve from there.
My starting point was these gorgeous midnight orchid Bermuda shorts. I have loved this orchid color lately, so I couldn’t wait to wear these once they arrived.
I love the longer length of Bermuda shorts; these are 12″ long. If you are petite, here is that version for you. I like that these cover so much of my thighs, but I added a pair of Sketchers sandals for some height.
If you have ever tried Sketchers before, then you know how lightweight and comfortable these wedge slide sandals are! When I put them on for the first time, my foot just sank into the footbed. There aren’t many shoes that are this comfortable right out of the box. I am wearing my normal size 9, and they fit great.
Here is a look at the pockets on the shorts that feature a zipper closure. I love the ombre design of this v-neck tee. The tee has a relaxed design (doesn’t show lumps and bumps), and the short sleeves are a dolman style. I really like the tee’s fit, and since it is a relaxed style, I can wear the medium. The tee is available in several other colors and prints, but this is my favorite. Also, the tee does come in petite sizes.
Even though the ombre tee looked great with the Bermuda shorts, I wanted to try something different. So, this is how the process begins. Off with the ombre top and Sketchers, and on with a button-up blouse and espadrille wedges.
Look at how the orchid color in the Kut From The Kloth blouse pops once I paired it with these shorts!
The blouse is very lightweight and pretty thin, so some of you might opt to wear a camisole under it. I didn’t think that I needed to, but it is an option. Here is the length of the blouse from the back.
I love button-up blouses because of their versatility. You can wear them like this, tied it the front, tucked in, under a cardigan or blazer, or open with another top under them. These are great for taking on trips since you can wear them in so many ways.
I am wearing a large blouse, and the fit is spot on. The sizes are very limited in “this” print, but there are seven print options for you to choose from, so you should be able to find one in your size.
Espadrilles are my favorite thing to wear in the summer. I love the sisal twine/rope material, and it looks so summery. I have several espadrille wedges, but I didn’t have a neutral-colored pair. Neutrals are great for the summer, especially when you wear shorts, crops, dresses, etc. since they help elongate your legs. I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they fit great.
I mentioned that I recently bought this handbag, and here is a photo of it. The bag looks a lot like my Tory Burch Ella canvas tote but at almost $400 savings! This bag is not quite as large as the Ella, and the trim is not leather. But, at only $40, you can’t beat the price, and it looks great.
Here is a photo of the two bags together, but don’t ask about the dress. It will be on the blog soon. Lol!!!
Once I got back from the photoshoot, I changed clothes and started working on editing the photos.
The minute that I put on my Elosie Jag Jeans, I knew that I had to show you this look. This casual look might even be my favorite with the floral blouse. These jeans are so comfortable, I will even wear these while traveling, and that is saying a lot!
I am linking several different retailers that are carrying these jeans since each one has different sizes available. However, I did size down to an 8 instead of my usual size 10, and they fit me perfectly.
This photo shows how thin the blouse is since you can see the jeans showing through. But I still don’t think I will wear a camisole under it since you can actually “see” anything. Thin doesn’t equal see-through. Lol!
Anyway, this is how my outfits evolve. First, I try something and then switch things around until I am happy. Now…which look is YOUR favorite?
