A DAY IN NEW ORLEANS
My feet are killing me!!! I haven’t walked this much since I went to Las Vegas and those girls tried to kill me. Oh my goodness, we have walked and walked and walked. Joe was not into looking at the rear of a horse so he wouldn’t take a carriage ride. Lol!
Our first stop this morning was to Mother’s. We had no idea that Mother’s was a “must” on the destination scene, it was just across the street from where we were staying. Joe asked the lady taking the order for her recommendation and that ended up being a crawfish omelet and cheese grits. Next, the walking started. It was funny because the lady gave us directions to Bourbon Street and by the time we had walked out of the restaurant neither one of us had a clue what she said. I took out my phone and said, “Siri, directions to Bourbon Street.” Before Siri could even start talking this lady who was taking a smoke break started telling me how to get there. I went back and talked to her for a few minutes and called her Siri. Lol! She had no idea what I was talking about. Joe just cracked up.
Next on our stop was Bourbon Street. Not a great picture of either of us but it was hard to get the sign in the background. There were all kinds of neat little shops up and down the street and of course, there were the Hustler and the Girls, Girls, Girls shops also. Hahaha
The wrought iron and the balconies with the plants really grabbed my attention. I love this look!!! You really don’t see this in Grundy that is for sure.
We sat down and were looking out over the water and I told Joe that I wanted to take our picture. I took several and then looked at them and he had his eyes closed in every one. I fussed at him and he said the sun was hurting his eyes. I offered to take another one and hold the camera to block out the sun…….
I think that worked, how about you? Lol! I can’t take him anywhere, but on a completely different note, don’t my eyelashes look great!!!
Because we were tired we decided to give Antwan and his pedicab a try. He was a lot of fun to talk to and Joe said he liked that much better. He couldn’t talk to a horse. Antwan then took us to Cafe Du Monde for their famous beignets and coffee with chicory.
The beignets were really good. They tasted a whole lot like funnel cakes that I get when I go to festivals except that the funnel cakes are swirlies and not a solid cake. Joe doesn’t do sugar well, it doesn’t sit well on his stomach, so this was not the smartest thing we could have eaten.
I had no idea what this was or where we were at but I thought this was gorgeous. Turns out is was the Saint Louis Cathedral, the oldest Cathedral in North America, founded as a Catholic Parish in 1720 along the Banks of the Mississippi River in New Orleans. About this time the sugar was kicking in and Joe was starting to get cranky and ill. After a few minutes, I told him I was going to take his picture so he turned around to pose. However, this is what I took a picture of…..
I told him that was what he was acting like. Lol! Mind you I was out of reach when I showed him the picture. Hahaha
Tomorrow we are going to go to the trade show because the weather is not going to be as pretty, but I am sure you will still get to hear all about my adventures.

Thanks for sharing your Nawlins’ adventure, Tania. I love your pix – and your candor. It brought back memories for me of a trip taken years ago. I love how you ate at Cafe du Monde, and also had the turtle soup, as did I. When in Rome, right? (Wish you got Joe on that carriage ride. But I get his point. LOL)
My son and daughter in law are there in New Orleans too! We are taking care of their two little girls. I asked them to bring me back a box of beignet mix. They look delicious in your picture..
