50 Is Not Old | Color Changes AttitudeIt has rained for days. The rain and cold weather have started to take a toll on my normally sunny nature. I have found myself being gloomy, tired, and borderline hateful. There might even be a few people who would say that there was no borderline. Lol! I got to noticing that my wardrobe was reflecting my mood. Here I wore gray, and here I wore black. So, today I thought I would change my mood through color.50 Is Not Old | Color Changes AttitudeI get a LOT of comments that say they follow my blog because I dress in something other than black and gray. I didn’t think much about that statement till I kept seeing it over and over and over. The commenters say most bloggers wear black and gray. Really? I know black, white, navy, and gray are classic colors and they do make you appear dressy.50 Is Not Old | Color Changes Attitude

Wearing bright colors sends the message of fun, casual, and happy-go-lucky. This outfit definitely fits the description. I “feel” happy, I “feel” fun and light-hearted. I like those feelings! I bought this teal dressy t-shirt in Florida this past February. It has a satin trim around the neckline that gives it a nicer look. The material is also thicker and has a small amount of spandex, making it fit nice. The top is by Banana Republic and is the Luxe line.

This is the first time I have had on these pants. I love the bright turquoise color, it just screams, “HAPPY.” How could anyone be in a rotten-no-good mood when wearing these? It just can’t happen! The cute notch in the hem is a nice detail. The littlest details are what makes a piece of clothing special. They take it from ordinary to extraordinary. The notch makes the pants stand out, just like the satin trim helps the t-shirt not be so boring. When you are shopping, look for the details like cute buttons, pleating, embroidery, etc. This pants are by Thin Girl. I have no idea where I bought these. For some reason I think I bought them at Ross.

50 Is Not Old | Color Changes AttitudeThe accessory in this outfit is the show stopper. I have on a fun, colorful scarf that I bought last year at Catos. I loved the bright colors, but it was the tassels that made me purchase the scarf. Another example of a small detail making the difference. The scarf is nice with without the tassels, but when they are added, it takes the scarf to another level.

I really, really like these bracelets. You will see them time and time again. The shoes and purse are ones that I call “old faithful.” These two items will go with almost anything all summer long, and the shoes are sooooo comfortable. If you can wear a heel, the wedge heel is the most comfortable for your feet. Aerosoles also have a lot of padding in the shoe, making them easy to wear.

50 Is Not Old | Color Changes AttitudeYou might have noticed that it was windy today. This was probably about the third or fourth time that the wind had done this. 50 Is Not Old | Color Changes AttitudeHere I am just waiting out the wind. As soon as it would quit blowing, I would look up and try to get a picture. The trials and tribulations of a blogger. Hahaha50 Is Not Old | MattiMost of you know that I went to Tennessee to see my sister give her commencement speech, but what you didn’t know was that my granddaughter, Matti, was having a ballet recital. This picture was taken during her solo performance. She is only 7, and I can’t believe how graceful and talented she is. I love this picture, it shows the love that she has for ballet in her face, and I love how graceful and elegant her little hands are. I might have shed a tear or two during her performance. It was special!

So glad I came across your pics on Pinterest. I am inspired. I have been looking in my closet today thinking… well I could put this and this together and make a nice outfit. I am 52 and office from home so a lot of times it’s jean capris and tshirt or yoga pants and baggy shirt. Love all the outfits you put together. Dressing cute does make you feel better. Thanks for the inspiration.

  2. I think it is very interesting that you have noticed a difference in your attitude when you wear color. I have recently come across a program called Dressing Your Truth which talks about that very thing! My closet was FULL of black and gray, but I found out I am a “Type 1” and should be wearing a lot of bright, happy colors. Now, my closet is FULL of color and I love it!!

  3. I feel the same way about color! I used to wear alot of black, but that is too shark unless I wear color near my face. I love color and it just brightens my day! Love these blue hues and the mix of color in your scarf, very sharp!
Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday

  4. Have you lost weight since you started your blog? You look fabulous but I noticed that your weight was 165 when you started. You look much smaller. Are you still wearing a size 10 in pants? We are about the same height and size and I’m wanting to order a couple of things online that I’ve seen you wearing. Thank you!!

    1. I have lost weight since I started, but I still wear a size 10 in pants

  5. Thank goodness the Lily scarf is not sold out! HA! Think I’ll have to really make some budget adjustments for that one!! Love your outfit and YOUR scarf!

  6. I agree about color! Even though I’m a creature of black and grey, I feel more energized in color. Great post, Tania!

  7. Tania, you are a hoot! I can’t stop laughing over the $2K scarf. Brilliant to sneak that in for us. I appreciate your style, grace, and sense of humor. Thanks for doing what you do.

  8. you are wonderful with mixing colors, wish I could do that!

  9. You certainly brightened my day! Thank you!

  10. I love this outfit! I just went to Talbots and bought a pair. Love love love your blog!! Thanks so much!

  11. Well, I just love you in color, but quite frankly you would look good in a potato sack! I look forward to your posts because you are always uplifting, never boring in your words or style, and honest. BTW, I used to live in Clintwood VA, and had an aunt (through marriage) who lived in Grundy. I love all those old towns in VA!

  12. Colors do help us feel better, don’t they? I really love your scarf. AND, the $2000 one is gorgeous, but, geez, how does one justify it? I don’t think we are all called to take a vow of poverty, but I don’t think Christ wants us to be that frivolous either. JMHO

Your granddaughter is precious. Lots of little dancers in our family…and grown up ones too. Such fun. I hope I have a granddaughter someday who loves dance. After all the years being backstage with my own daughter…and the dance team….I’ve gotten pretty good at attaching false eyelashes and emergency whip-stitching costumes. LOL

Love that tasseled scarf! Like bright colors, scarves are mood elevators. Perhaps it’s the bold patterns or bright colors or even the silky or nubby textures, but I always feel better with a scarf giving me a little hug around the neck. I can only imagine what it would feel like to wear a $2,000 scarf. 🙂 Thanks for another uplifting post!

  14. Lynneferd says:

What a mood elevator with all those lovely colors! I have difficulty following some style bloggers because of their limited color palate. Your style is a lot of fun! Thanks for showing us all how to have fun and adventure every day when we select our daily wear.

  15. Susan Stancliff says:

Love Love your colors! And your beautiful granddaughter. I hope she continues with her love of dance. We are a family of dancers starting with my sister and me and now our grandbabies and her great grands are dancing. It is a wonderful family tradition

  16. You ARE brilliant. You take what is a casual look, tee and pants, (OK I can do that) and then you kick it way up there. Thank you for sharing how to take the kind of clothes that I wear and showing me that even I can take them up a little bit more. You are my inspiration. Thank you so very much.

  17. You look adorable today. You sure wouldn’t do well with the Pacific Northwest weather (where I live). It is cloudy and gloomy many, many days but our winters are mild and our summers are perfect.

That scarf was $2,450. WOW! It seems such a shame that someone would spend that much on a scarf when there are so many people in the world going without things. I call it a sin. Thanks for showing it to us anyway.

  18. I love color! People always comment when you wear it and most of those comments center on how happy, joyful and upbeat you look. It does set the mood. Love the scarf! I’m a sucker for any great detail. Your granddaughter is so sweet. My youngest niece is a dancer with a big show coming up in 2 weeks. It will be her last since she’s going off to college in the fall. Those memories are so precious. So glad you got to be there!!!!

  19. Ruth Hamel says:

    Love this outfit!

  20. I agree with you 100% about how color makes you feel better. I do love your color combos. They inspire me to do the same. Thank You!

  21. Really like this outfit. The colors are gorgeous on you. This is too funny?. As you described the colors I thought “that’s not what I see”. Then I remembered I have a filter on my phone and it darkens the color!!!! Went to my laptop and sure enough there was the color you said!! I too thought you rocked that graphic tee and jeans (they don’t count as ?gloomy wear). Thanks again for writing this blog. Blessing to you.

  22. What else could I say but GORGEOUS! You and your granddaughter! Yes I would love to know your tips on losing weight.

  23. Glenda Braun says:

Just love the colors. Your granddaughter is just so cute .

  24. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the beautiful colors on you. Aldo love to see how you style the classics! Also, just an observation….I have been following you for awhile, and noticed….have you been losing weight? You look amazing! Thank you for all you do and your optimistic attitude.

  25. A $2000 scarf? OMG! Even if you could buy that why would you? That is a level of luxury that clearly I don’t understand! Give me a bargain any day! Fun to look at though!

I love your style, your daily chats & your zany sense of humor! Your granddaughter is precious X10! I usually don’t comment but the $2000 scarf was worth an OMG!

Keep up the good work. I appreciate you sharing yourself with the rest of us & inspiring us to give this life our best effort!

    1. That was how I felt too Laura! I just had to share so others could see what a 2000.00 scarf looked like. Lol!

  26. I love that this outfit, esp the scarf. If you came to see me wearing this outfit, I would certainly snap out of the doldrums all the rain has put me in!
Funny thing about color. I only wore orange for over 20 years – long story – but I branched out last year. I’m enjoying all the colors in my wardrobe.

  27. Tammy Dodson says:

Love the blues! The scarf really does pull it together. Precious granddaughter of yours. There is nothing like being a grand parent. It is getting sunny here in East TN 80’s by the weekend!

  28. Love the bright colers. You do look happy and cheerful this morning. Tania, you are an delightful inspiration. Thank you! Have a blessed day.

  29. You rock this look. These are your colors and just looking at this outfit makes me feel happy.

  30. Love the scarf! I am a fool for tassels, having bought at least three this season with that feature. And, yes, color immensely improves my mood on overcast or rainy days. I rarely wear yellow, but a yellow cardigan does the trick!

  31. ruby Hostetler says:

Where do you find the lip stain you wrote about and what brand ?

    1. I wear Cover Girl Outlast, or Maybelline Superstay 24 color lip stain. I like these two brands better than any I have tried. They stay on almost all day long.

  32. Love the colors on you……..looks great! And absolutely I wear colorful outfits when the weather is bleak and dreary, cause it cheers me up!!

  33. I love the colors in your outfit. I agree that details truly can bring an outfit up a notch. 😉 I just couldn’t resist! I love the tassels on your scarf. The whole outfit is so pretty on you!
Your granddaughter is absolutely precious! She looks like an elegant ballerina. And I’m sure she danced like one too! She’s absolutely lovely. Thank you for sharing this darling with us.
Btw……. I do love the colors you wear, but you totally rocked that black tee shirt, with the distressed jeans!
