CHANGE UP YOUR OUTFIT WITH TWO TOPS AND ONE PAIR OF JEANS
I don’t know if you’ve ever had this happen to you, but I was so confused the other morning. I took Lucy Lu out for her morning potty break, and I heard something inside the gutter downspout. It sounded like it was fluttering around, so I was afraid that a bird had fallen into the gutter spout and couldn’t get out. My daughter came out to help me figure out how to get whatever was out of the spout because our spouts have a corrugated pipe attached that goes into the ground.
It sounded like the animal was at the bottom of the spout, and we found an opening about the size of a half-dollar there. We shined a light inside the spout and then went to get a better flashlight to try and see what was inside. When we got back outside, the animal was gone. We figured that it saw the opening when we shined the light and that it got out. I assumed it was a mouse or a ground squirrel and was glad it escaped.
The next day when I went outside, it happened again. This time the sound seemed to be coming from the top of the spout and not the bottom. I stepped away from the house to see the roof, and about that time, a bird climbed out of the spout and flew off. What the heck? I don’t know if it is trying to build a nest there or what, but it doesn’t sound like a good idea to me.
It is getting that time of the year when we start wearing white/ecru/alabaster/cream/ivory pants. I wear these colors all year long, but they are generally associated with spring and summer. To help you get more wear for your money, I’m going to show you how just changing your top can make a difference in the look of your outfit.
This first look is a Crewneck Pullover Sweater that is relaxed and comfy. A sweater like this looks elegant and expensive, and it feels just as lovely. This is by a new brand from Talbots called Haven Well Within. This is the first thing that I’ve tried from them, but the sweater is very nice, and I’ll be trying more items in the future. The sweater is made of cotton, linen, and silk, and it is machine washable. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
Here is the back view of the sweater. The sweater hits me right at my hips.
The other top that I am styling today is a Floral Shirred Tie Neck Blouse. This look is more casual than the sweater, even though the sweater wasn’t dressy.
The colors in the Floral Shirred Tie Neck Blouse are beautiful. This floral print is not bright and vivid; it is more understated but still beautiful. This top would look great with a pair of shorts or jeans, and I love it with these white/ecru jeans. The top is relaxed and slightly oversized, I am wearing a medium, and you can see how it fits me.
Here is a side view of the blouse. It is a little longer than the sweater, but not much. It does offer quite a bit of coverage, though, so you can feel at ease.
The jewelry that I am wearing is from Kendra Scott’s New Arrivals. I love the size of the Adeline Hoop Earrings; they are a great medium size. The Adeline Chain Necklace looks great and fills the void left by a v-neckline. Of course, I have on my 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil Cross Necklace since I wear it almost daily. Even though you can’t see it in this photo, I’m also wearing a Maggie Filigree Bangle and a David Yurman Cable Loop Bracelet.
Now, for the jeans that I’ve worn with both tops. These Straight Leg Raw Hem Jeans are perfect for spring and summer, and you can dress them up or down. I preferred a more casual look today, but these jeans would also look great with a blazer and heels. The description said these jeans ran small and that you should size up. I sized up to a 32 instead of a 30, but they are too big. I promise that I’ll eventually get my sizing down, but at least these are from Norstrom, so I’m not paying for shipping or returns.
These all-white Chunky Canvas Sneakers are great for summer, especially since you can throw them in the washing machine when they get dirty. I ordered my usual size 9, but these must run big. I’ve got to send these back and get another size.
I hope you enjoyed these two casual looks using the same jeans. Have you seen my latest YouTube Video? It is on How Do I Wear Stripes and I think you will enjoy it. Cute tops! I’m confused about the jeans…if they run big, shouldn’t you size down?

Well, shoot! I hate it when that happens.
Both tops are right up my alley! Too cute. We’ve had birds in our gutters, too. It must be more protective then trees but not a great idea.
You look great in both outfits! And you are so right, just wearing a different top really makes a difference.
