50 IS NOT OLD | CASUAL FRIDAYDi I mention that my daughter was coming in from Alaska? Yipee!!! Did I mention that she flys on Alaska Airlines? They are pretty much your only choice when you fly in or out of Juneau. The only downside is that they don’t fly everywhere so she has to fly to an airport that is close. When I say close I am talking either 5 or 6 hours away from me. She flew into Nashville and my mom and son went to pick her up.50 IS NOT OLD | CASUAL FRIDAYYou know the saying about the best-laid plans? The plan was for Joe to fly and pick her up on Thursday. I said that was the PLAN but that is not what happened. Instead, when we woke up that morning it was really overcast which is not a bad thing for driving but for flying in a small plane it is not good. Especially when you live in the mountains and the clouds can hover down them. I nixed that plan in the bud but that left someone (that would be me) having to drive 5 hours to pick her up. AND, then I had to turn around and drive the 5 hours back to Virginia. But, because I am so dedicated (crazy) I took my computer with me and did my blog while I was fearing for my life with my crazy driving daughter.50 IS NOT OLD | CASUAL FRIDAYBecause several of you have mentioned that I should try a casual outfit on Friday’s – here you go. I actually wore this last Friday and I was amazed at how many compliments I got. Who knew that casual could look so good? Lol!!! I wore this scarf back in October so if you want to hear about that then go here to see how I wore it and the links to similar ones. Instead, I will tell you about the cashmere sweater from Isaac Mizrahi. I have two others that are almost exactly the same but in beige and pink. I love cashmere because it is so soft and cozy and if I find it on sale then I will buy one or two pieces a year. There are some clothing purchases that I believe in paying more for and cashmere is one of them. I still try to buy smart though and get the best bang for my buck. Remember to be sure to check out all the after Christmas sales that will be going on for some fantastic deals.

50 IS NOT OLD | CASUAL FRIDAYI wore my Kalani earrings so that I could stay in the maroon color family. I went for a long time with not wearing these and now I find myself getting that out all the time. I think it has to do with the time of the year. The Nona cuff bracelet matches the earrings pretty good. All my other bracelets are Alex and Ani! I love all the different sentiments that each bracelet represents and reminds me of.50 IS NOT OLD | CASUAL FRIDAYHere is another item that I have had for a while and really never wore until this year. Now, I am wearing them every time I turn around. Lol! These are a light cranberry color suede ankle boot by Isaac Mizrahi. I liked the bright blue handbag with the cranberry booties. I thought the colors looked good together. This is a Kate Spade purse that I bought with an incentive that I won through one of my upline with Rodan + Fields.

50 IS NOT OLD | CASUAL FRIDAYThe dark blue bootcut jeans by Vigoss are some of my favorites. I love the dark color and the stark white stitching together. Dark colored jeans help to elongate your legs and a bootcut will help to balance out your look especially if you have wider hips. I also think that darker jeans are more dressy than the faded colored ones. Vigoss is a premium jean which means they will last you for a long time. I usually buy mine at Maurices and I try to get them when they are on sale. 50 IS NOT OLD | CASUAL FRIDAYOn Saturday’s post, I decided to share with everyone reason number 1 that I think you should join me in my Rodan + Fields business and then Monday I shared reason number 2,  Tuesday I shared reason number 3, and Wednesday was reason number 4. Today I am sharing my next reason:

Reason number 5. Financial security. The economy seems to be doing some better but the truth is that if you work for someone else then you can never be sure that your job will still be there this time next year. It is scary. Some of you may be a single mom, newly divorced,  or a recent widow and an extra income could really help with the bills. The amount of time you want to spend on the business is simply up to you. You want to earn more money then you put in more time. I would guess that the average consultant spends about 10 hours a week on her business. That means that you can earn extra income, work your current job, or babysit the grandkids from anywhere as long as you have internet. Interested in hearing more? Email me at fiftyisnotold.com

  1. Great casual Friday look! I’m going to have to try some Vigoss jeans; they do look like they are a good quality denim. I wish you and all of your family a very Merry Christmas!!!

  2. Looking good! Love the color combination. Every time I buy cashmere it ends up with moth holes. Do you store yours with moth balls?

  3. Cindy DeBenning says:

That’s the hardest thing for me to look cute not frumpy when dressing casual. Thanks for the help!
