50 IS NOT OLD | CASHMERE AND JEANSHappy weekend everyone! I decided to sleep in this morning. The fact that I am writing this on Friday night means this is my plan. Lol! I have no idea if that will actually happen. Joe has been waking up between 4 or 5 every morning, which of course wakes me up and it is not easy to get back to sleep. Don’t you hate it when your internal clock gets all messed up? 50 IS NOT OLD | CASHMERE AND JEANSI am running on empty tonight and struggling with something to chat about. It looks like I am going to chat about chatting. Haha! I have to work on woman’s club reports today and my mind is occupied with what I need to say and write. I am having a hard time concentrating on the blog. So, let’s just go on to the outfit and see how it plays out.
50 IS NOT OLD | CASHMERE AND JEANSI think I mentioned earlier that if I buy something that I really like, then I will usually buy more than one. This cashmere mock turtleneck top is an example of that. I have this same top in brown (see post) and pink which I haven’t worn yet. The top is super soft, really comfy, oversized, and only $12.00. YEP! I bought three and might have bought more but they didn’t have more. Lol! The top is by Isaac Mizrahi and I bought mine at the overstock store in town. There are three of these stores in town. (Grundy, VA)50 IS NOT OLD | CASHMERE AND JEANSBELIEVE. That is my word for 2017. Believe in myself and my abilities, believe in the world and the goodness in people, believe in the Lord and what he has in store for me. Just believe. This necklace that I bought years ago when I was in Marietta, Georgia is going to be a daily staple. You may not see the necklace because I might have it under my shirt, but it is going to be close by. 50 IS NOT OLD | CASHMERE AND JEANSThe multi-strand necklace is this month’s Plunder Posse. I don’t always love the Posse, some I love, and some not so much. I give the one’s that aren’t my style away as gifts, so it works out fine. This one, however, will be staying with me. I really like this one. The Plunder Posse is a monthly subscription service where you will receive 1 to 3 pieces of jewelry for a flat rate of $25.00. If you place your order later in the month then you have plenty of time to see what that month’s Posse will be and you can cancel if it is not something you want. There is no joining fee and no penalty for canceling.50 IS NOT OLD | CASHMERE AND JEANSI have had this Michael Kors purse for a couple of years. I bought this at TJ Maxx and I always refer to it as linen. In actuality, it is probably canvas that is linen color. It is sturdy and not flimsy like linen would be. The leather and gold accents take this to stunning and not too casual like you would think of when you hear the word canvas.

50 IS NOT OLD | CASHMERE AND JEANSMy booties and skinny jeans are both from Old Navy. The booties surprised me at how comfortable they have been. I have bought flats there is the past and they were not something I would want to wear for long periods. So far the two booties I have purchased have been good. I have a couple pair of these mid-rise Rockstar skinny jeans. They are inexpensive and they fit great. I am wearing a size 10.50 IS NOT OLD | CASHMERE AND JEANSThis post has taken me twice as long to write tonight and is probably not very good 🙁 I have been talking, listening to a ZOOM call, eating, and occasionally surfing FaceBook. That reminds me when I was home over Christmas and my granddaughter, Matti, was sitting on my lap watching me write my post. I would stop and start talking and she would say, “Nana are you through?” I would say not yet and go back to typing. It wouldn’t be long till I was talking again and she would say, “Nana are you through?” Nope, not yet was again the answer. Then I started talking again and she said, “Nana are you through?” I said no, I still like about 5 more minutes. “Why don’t you quit talking and just finish?” How do kids get to be so smart? Hahaha! I was sitting here tonight and I caught myself procrastinating so I said, “Why don’t you quit talking and just finish?” Joe walked by about that time and was thoroughly confused. LOL!!!

    1. I am so sorry, Carla. I thought I emailed you. I’ll do it again right now but check your spam folder and see if it went there.

  2. This is such a cute look! I love cashmere so much. Of course, in Texas, I have to purchase light weave and don’t really get to wear it often.

BELIEVE is such a great word for 2017, on so many levels. My word in 2016 was intentional. For 2017, my word is mindful. It is a reminder for me that Christ expects us to “die to self.” To me, mindful is a step on that path.

I’m just getting caught up. Saturday was Daddy’s 90th birthday party. It was a great success and he enjoyed it thoroughly. Sunday was my birthday. Yesterday was teacher in-service/MLK holiday for students. AND, in spite of my word for this year, I am taking a few days off for a girls cruise this weekend. We sail from Galveston on Thursday. I literally cannot believe I am taking off work for this. Not like me at all. However, my husband insisted. These “gurls” are my Baylor family. Our sons played for Baylor together. We have laughed, cried, prayed, mourned and celebrated together. I am beyond blessed that Baylor brought us together. Now our boys are grown, Most are married, or engaged. A few have started families. Only 2 still play, although now in the NFL. But us mamas are still together. And together we have committed to remain.

    XOXO
