CAN A NEUTRAL BE THE STAR OF AN OUTFIT
For all of my ladies who love soft and cozy clothing items, you are going to love this post. It shows you how easily a neutral can be the star of an outfit. But before I dive right into talking about my outfit, I wanted to ask how your 2020 is going.
For the record, I am “trying” to eat better in 2020, but I am still a work in progress. I have cut out meat for January, and I am not eating sugary snacks or desserts. I have also cut out caffeine for the most part, but it is sometimes in products that you wouldn’t even think about. Exercising is almost non-existent, so that is something that I am going to have to work on for next month. I need to get more organized with my time, and stick to the plan, instead of getting sucked into other non-productive areas. It is funny how we know what to do, but we don’t do what we should do. I have the best of intentions, but my follow-through is lacking. A habit is hard to establish, but hopefully, walking daily is one that I will be able to adopt soon. What are you working on for 2020 in your life?
This cozy cardigan by Rachel Parcell is soooo soft. I am relatively tall, so I love the longer length cardigans. However, if you are not sure if a longer cardigan works for you, then I suggest that you try several different lengths and take pictures of you in them. Pictures tell a story that the mirror can’t. Also, wearing tighter fitting clothing under the cardigan will help to eliminate bulk and keep you from looking larger than you are. I will size down in cardigans to keep them closer to my body, or I tie the sash in the back to have them appear smaller. (I have done that with this cardigan) I am wearing a medium in this cardigan, but I probably need a small. Here is the link to the cardigan.
I thought that you might like a close-up of this gorgeous cable-knit design. Also, I forgot to mention that the cardigan does come in a pink color, which is trending for this year. I adore this neutral color, but it might not be for everybody. Also, this sweater is hand washable and lay flat to dry. And, the biggest thing that you need to know is that it is on sale for 40% off!
The Vienna necklace has been a go-to one for me. I liked the simple design, the lack of color, and the fact that it reminds me of a Ralph Lauren jewelry piece. The necklace is a longer piece at 38″ long. The gold hoops are the Dallin earrings, and they were also a go-to for me. My most recent go-to for gold hoops have been a pair from Kendra Scott. They are more expensive, but they are also more sturdy. Here is the link to those if you are interested in them.
My bracelets are the Lelani and Lucille. I love how these two bracelets can be worn alone or together for an elegant look. Both of these bracelets are on an elastic cord, so they are simple to put on and take off.
This pair of jeans is a pair that you will want to look at closely. They are called the Tess, and they are a high waisted crop skinny jeans by Mavi. I had never tried that brand before, but the 40% off sale tempted me to give them a shot. You will see me wearing this a lot in the future, especially with spring coming soon. They fit me like a dream; I am wearing my usual size 10, which converts to a size 30. I am making an effort to buy clothing that will work for now as well as spring so that I can extend my amount of time that I can wear them. Here is the link to the jeans, which are machine wash and lay flat to dry.
Speaking of one of my favorite items, you can count these animal print booties on the list. I can’t stop wearing these pointy toe ankle boots, and you won’t be able to either. They are stylish, sophisticated, a neutral item, and they make anything that you wear them with look so much better. The heel is 3″ tall, but I find them to be very comfortable. I am wearing my usual size 9, so I think that these do run true to size. Here is the link if you want to walk on the wild side. (Think about Valentine’s Day)
I added a turtleneck sweater to this look, but I normally prefer to wear an open neck with a cardigan like this one. But, I was cold today, and I decided to go for extra warmth, and this sweater from Banana Republic looked like it would work great. As I was putting on my makeup, I decided to roll the turtleneck down to make sure that I didn’t get makeup on the neckline. When I went to take photos, I noticed that it was still down, but I decided to leave it that way. Lol! I wore it that way for the rest of the day, but I did adjust the one side that wasn’t laying down correctly.
