Are You Like A Flickering Light That Needs Replaced

The other night, as Joe and I were sitting in the living room, I kept seeing a flash out of the corner of my eye. But when I raised my head, everything looked normal. Joe didn’t seem to notice anything strange, so I returned to work on my computer. However, it wasn’t long before I saw the flash again, and this time, I saw that the culprit was one of our recessed lights…it was flickering.

Joe looked up this time and noticed that the light was flickering. Then, just like before, the light returned to acting normal, as if everything was alright. We both figured that the light would blow at any time and then we would change it out. We have 10-foot ceilings, and changing a bulb can be difficult.

But it’s been a week, and the bulb keeps flickering, but only occasionally. It shines brightly the rest of the time, just like all the others. I looked up this morning to see that the bulb wasn’t flickering, but its light was dimmed and no longer bright. Joe saw it, too, and said he would change it out later today.

I sat there looking at the light and wondered if it represented my struggle with the Lord. Am I like a flickering light? Are you? As a Christian, I am supposed to let my light shine for the Lord, and try as I might, I sometimes find myself “flickering.” Life gets busy and hectic, and I don’t always shine as bright as I would like.

If you looked at me, you might notice that my light is flickering; you might only see my shining light. Or, maybe you’ve been watching and noticed that my light seems to be dimming but that a small amount of light is still shining.

There is good news!!! Lights can be replaced, and the whole room can once again be lighted brightly, and so can we. We don’t need to be completely replaced; we just need to replace some of the issues causing a connection problem. If the bulb doesn’t have a good connection to the power source, it can flicker. If we don’t have a good connection to THE power source, we can flicker.

This thought makes me so happy because I know our Good Father is waiting for us to reconnect and turn back on the power.

Revelation 3:15-16

15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

I’m not a fan of lukewarm coffee, and I will reheat my coffee several times each morning. The Lord doesn’t like lukewarm either, and I’m sure He doesn’t like a flickering light either.

Matthew 5:16

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Put your coffee in the microwave, screw in the bulb and check the connection, and open your Bible to turn back on your power source. Don’t be a flickering light for the Lord!

To God Goes The Glory!

Have A Blessed Day!
