AN OUTFIT THAT WILL KEEP YOU COOL ON MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day is this weekend, and I know that usually means a couple of different things. For most, it means taking the time to honor those who have died in the service of our country. While I was in Tennessee, my mother and aunt asked my sister and me to go to the cemetery and place flowers on the graves for them. My grandfather and great-uncles served in the military, but they did not die on active duty. It was an honor that my sister and I both accepted readily.

Memorial Day is also a day of family gatherings and cookouts. Pools usually open on Memorial Day, and if the weather permits, you will see people heading to the lakes and beaches. Last year put a hiatus on get-togethers, but this year is more open here in the US. Joe and I haven’t gotten our pool completely open this year, but we are in the process. So, I am crossing my fingers that we can get it up and running for the long weekend.

I have worn mostly red, white, and blue for Memorial Day in the past, and I have even worn an outfit that looked like a flag. However, I wanted to be festive, but not over the top this year. So, instead of wearing stars and stripes, I am wearing a sleeveless tunic top with muted stripes that include red, white, and blues.

Normally, the weather is hot here, so wearing a 100% linen top is a smart move. However, the trouble with most linen fabric is that you looked wrinkled and rumpled as soon as you sit down, and that is not a smart move. Do you wear jewelry when you’re at a cookout? I always wear my jewelry unless I am going swimming, and then I will take it off. You only have to lose a diamond earring in the lake once to learn your lesson. Lol! Today’s jewelry is my usual AVI gold hoop earrings and the Fallyn cuff bracelet. Also, you might notice that I am wearing a gold band. My black opal ring needs to be repaired, and the jewelry store hasn’t opened up yet because of COVID, but I hope they will soon. Instead, I am wearing a ring that was a gift from Rodan + Fields. It is the 5.5 Cartier Love Ring in 18Kt gold. This baby sure is nice, but I want my black opal ring that Joe bought me back!!!

I am not great at taking everything with me when I go to our new house, taking photos. Most of the time, the thing that I forget to pack is shoes.
