AN ECLIPSE PARTY

50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY Okay, I was wrong and I will be the first to admit it. I was not excited about the eclipse in the least. I was excited to attend the 100th birthday for Grandpa, I was excited to see my son and daughter, and I was excited to see all the grandbabies but the eclipse was something that I really wasn’t looking forward to.  50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY We started preparing for the party on Sunday by making over 20 t-shirts for everyone. The kids had a blast creating their own Galaxy in any way they wanted. Huttson is really into wrestling and watching John Cena and Stone Cold Steve Austin. When we looked at his shirt we noticed that his Galaxy had the word John at the bottom. Lol! 50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY Matti is showing us how she was painting her shirt. We pinned a circle over the spot we wanted to keep black. That kept that area clean even after we spray painted the bright yellow of the corona.  50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY Ashleigh was in charge of applying the cosmic makeup. Mine was the shadow of the moon with some stars (gems) shining. One of the men said it looked like I had been hit with a baseball bat. They just had no creativity in their blood.  50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY Ashleigh was being sweet and put her hand so that you couldn’t see my double chin. Lol! 50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY Look how cute the kids looked. This is my brother’s daughter, Allison. 50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY This is my sister’s daughter, Rachel. 50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY And this is my granddaughter, Matti B. Matti is the sweetest child you will ever meet. She is so sensitive and gets very emotional over everything. During the eclipse, we looked over and poor Matti is crying. We asked her what was wrong and she said that it was so beautiful that she didn’t want it to end.  50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY I can’t believe that we actually got the men to wear the eclipse shirts. Haha! With all the glitter that we added to make the “Corona”, they ended up looking more like sunflowers. JD set up all of his fancy camera equipment and had it set to take time-lapse photos. He got several amazing shots and here is one straight from the camera. 50 IS NOT OLD | AN ECLIPSE PARTY I have watched the eclipse on television but this was so special that I was truly amazed. This is like when I went to Alaska, it is something that you really need to experience. I now understand why people were driving for hours to just witness this event.  The  “Once In A Lifetime” event might be over but the “Once In A Lifetime” offer is still going. I wish I had paid more attention and done something special. We did go to a party hosted by our local university (Kansas University home of the K U Jayhawks). It got cloudy here and we didn’t see anything except a little darkness and cicadas in midday! Your shirts are awesome

    1. When it started to get dark we could hear the crickets and the roosters started crowing.

What a special way to experience this event. And the memories created for your little ones. With all the “Special ” things in the world, what counts most is time spent with family and friends.
Love your blog…and attitude…age is just a number!

    1. I told the kids how special this was. I am 57 and I had never watched one before that they should remember this event.

Too fun! Looks like a wonderful time had by all! CT looked like a cloudy day at most and I was stuck in my office on a conference call so that was that. The tees came out so cool!

  4. Thank you Tania for sharing these pics. Looks like a fun-filled family day. Everyone did a great job on their T-shirts. I’m still amazed how great your grandfather looks for being “100”…..excellent genes. ~Lisa~

  9. Tania, thanks for sharing your truly special pictures. I, too, was much more amazed with the eclipse than I thought I’b be! Even though we only saw 60% here in Southern California! Your family is lovely.

    1. Darlene, even my father said he was so glad that we had a party. He said he probably wouldn’t have watched the eclipse if we hadn’t all go together and he really enjoyed seeing it.
