Today I’m talking about a fashion item I love to hate – shapewear! I’ve found some great options of affordable AND highly reviewed shapewear but here’s the thing, you don’t have to wear shapewear! I wear it for a variety of reasons, chief among them that I change clothes for my photos all day long and I’m constantly opening and closing my dressing room door. If you don’t wear it, or need it, you go gurl!

I’ve been blogging about shapewear for a long time. I posted the photo below in 2018. My sister said that when I posted pictures of me, with and without shapewear, she knew I’d crossed into new territory. lol. Obviously, there’s no turning back now!

Affordable and Highly Reviewed Shapewear from Amazon

The shapewear I’m posting about today all have good ratings – 3.9 or higher and have been reviewed thousands of times. I’m showing them in order of how many reviews they have and I’ll be showing their rating as well.

FeelinGirl Shapewear for Women

The description says this is a FeelinGirl Shapewear for Women Tummy Control Full Bust Body Shaper Bodysuit Butt Lifter and Thigh Slimmer. That ought to cover it! Lol. This bodysuit Is priced less than $37.00 dollars and has been reviewed 8,565 times and has a rating of 3.9 stars.

Bali Womens Lace ‘N Smooth Shapewear Body Shaper

This is so pretty! I have to admit that when I take off my clothes at the end of the day, the pale tan shapewear that I typically wear does remind me of the girdles my granny wore years ago. This photo looks like two pieces, but it’s actually a bodysuit. It’s under $40 dollars and has been reviewed 9,408 times with a rating of 4.2 stars. I’m ordering one today!

Affordable and Highly Reviewed Shapewear -10,000+ Reviews

Spanx Shapewear High Waisted Tummy Control

You know I love Spanx! I’ve reviewed their products many times, including the Spanx A-Line dress I blogged about in February. Spanx is synonymous with shapewear, and this one targeting the tummy looks like a winner. It’s been reviewed 13,833 times and has a 4.0 star rating!

Shapermint Scoop Neck Compression Tummy

This is the type of shapewear that I wear pretty much daily. The straps are adjustable which is important, and it comes in four colors – white, black, chocolate, and tan. It’s under $40 dollars and has been reviewed 19,246 times and has a rating of 4 stars!

Spanx Higher Power Bike Shorts

I’m pretty sure Spanx appears on every Affordable and Highly Reviewed Shapewear list! I like that these not only offer tummy control, they are the longer, bike shorts type. These are helpful for those of us who carry our weight in our thighs. How many reviews? 19,730! They are available in the same 4 colors as above, are under $40 dollars, and go to 3X. These have a rating of 3.9 stars.

Shapermint High-Waisted Compression Leggings

I love all things leggings, and these come in five different colors. The description says they are designed to “effortlessly slim your waist and stay in place!” They are very popular and have 20,270 reviews with 3.9 stars. Plus, they are under $30 dollars.

Shapermint High Compression Bra

I’ve never been in need of a sports bra. Chesty, I am not. lol But I know that this is a serious issue for many of you. This High Support Bra comes in a wide range of sizes, from small to 4X. It has 23,766 reviews and a rating of 3.9 stars. It comes in 4 colors and is only $29 dollars. That’s a deal!

SHAPERMINT High Waisted Body Shaper Shorts Shapewear for Women

These are very similar to the Spanx biker shorts above. They are a little bit cheaper at $28 dollars and they have 35,637 reviews! If you want to try a brand other than Spanx, this would be the time. They have a rating of 4.0 stars. That’s a lot of satisfied customers.

SHAPERX Body Shaper Zippered Open Bust Bodysuit

And last but not least, a zippered, open-bust body suit. I like this type of shapewear because I can wear my own bra, and slip it under the shapewear. And I’m not alone. This item has a whopping 48,965 reviews and a 4.1-star rating!

Shapewear is the canvas and the clothes are the art.

  1. Love the sweaters❤️

  2. Oh…. how I need a shaper, I have been looking, but did not have a guide.. This was perfect, I have many brands and ideas to look for.. Thanks..

  3. What brand(s) is (are) best for not rolling down? I’ve had some in the past that the high waisted things roll down after a little while…or worse create a new bulge at the top.

    1. Sheli, none of the leggings I wear roll down. I don’t like any that does.

  4. I haven’t seen the problem I would have with yanking the high waisted shape wear when the bathroom calls. Do any of them have an opening for this purpose??

    1. Usually SPANX has the gusset for that issue.

  5. Kathleen McDermott says:

I love my high-waisted shapewear (no legs). Not only do I look better in them, I actually feel more comfy in those than panties. Smoothe, firmer, no discomfort at the waist, no muffin-top. Cannot live without them. I have dozens in different fabrications. Light-weight, breathable ones are my everyday favorites, especially for summer. The bulk of my collection is that. For a dressy event or the rare close-fitting outfit, I‘ll employ one of the denser ones. Along with my arsenal of back/side smoothing bras, I feel my best as a 69-year-old girl.

    1. Kathleen, what are the brands of shape wear since you say you have several?

      1. Kathleen McDermott says:

Terri – I buy mine at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Many different brands. Skinny Girl, Jones, Control It, Issac Mizrahi, Yummie, Nouvelle Essentials, Seamless Essentials, Warners, Marilyn Monroe, to name a few. 90/10 nylon/spandex. Soft and stretchy. Very high waist that rises well over waist, some close to bra. Usually 2-packs. LOVE.

    2. Would love to know the brands you wear as well.

  6. I have shapewear but only wear it with certain clothes. I would like recommendations on panties with light tummy control. If I tuck tops in when wearing pants, I would like that confidence it provides. Some of my shape wear panties have too much control and feel uncomfortable under pants. That’s why I like high rise waisted pants, they hold the junk in. I’m open to suggestions.

  7. Hi Tania,
I read your comment about the compression bra and not being chesty lol and I am in the same boat😂 However, I wanted to share why this bra is a game changer for me. I had a mastectomy on my left breast 6 years ago (cancer free now Praise God) after reconstruction my left gurl was always a little smaller than the right (not purty) and I was always self conscious of it. The second I tried on the shapermint compression bra I actually felt normal again😍 Somehow it shapes me in the right places and gives me the appearance of a size larger! So I would recommend trying one just to see the difference, you might be pleasantly surprised. I have been following your blog for a couple of years but this is my first comment. My husband and I enjoy your personal stories! God bless❣

  8. I love Spanx, and you can’t beat them for comfort. I agree you can take it or leave it with shapewear-to each their own!

  9. Does anybody have suggestions for shapewear that is shorter? The shorts options shown here would literally be to my knees and would not work with a lot of my dresses – I’m 5’3′ but very short in the torso. Also, I have to say I can’t imagine wearing this on a daily basis- you must not live in Georgia in the summer like I do LOL.

  10. Your list should include Shapeez, though it is pricey. Be sure to read the size guide which is different than others. The cami is bra sized, not just S, M, L.

  11. LOVE.THIS.POST. I don’t wear shape wear a lot but I love this information for the must have times that I need to wear it. Ur the best!❤️
