50 IS NOT OLD | ADDING A POP OF COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE | FASHION OVER 40Yesterday was a”git r done” kind of day. I made me a list of things that I wanted to get accomplished, and who knew that doing that helps? Lol! I got a lot of pleasure out of checking off each task when it was completed. Plus, it kept me on track and focused which is hard. When I was writing the other day about all of the travelings that I have coming up, I started thinking about appointments that I might already have scheduled. Sure enough, there was a hair appointment and an endocrinologist appointment that needed to be rescheduled because I wouldn’t be in town. Then, I remembered that I had put in my last contact, so I needed to make an eye doctor appointment. Am I the only one who waits to the last minute to do things like this?
50 IS NOT OLD | ADDING A POP OF COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE | FASHION OVER 40 The local eye doctor didn’t have any appointments for over a month, so I called the neighboring county and got an appointment for that afternoon. I got a comprehensive examination and left there seeing spots. Lol! They dilated my eyes, took measurements, photos, checked me for cataracts, basically ran me through the mill. I decided to try monovision contacts this time. That is where they have one contact for seeing in the distance and one contact for seeing up close. I have been warned that this might take some getting used to before my brain retrains itself to automatically adjusts. The phrase about teaching an old dog new tricks keeps running through my mind, and I am wondering if my brain is “teachable.” I guess we will find out, but if you see me walking around in circles, please point me in the right direction. Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | ADDING A POP OF COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE | FASHION OVER 40How is this for a feel-good outfit? This cardigan from Ann Taylor is one of my favorites; I love the bright color. A cardigan is such an easy way to add some interest to any outfit. You can add a pop of color as I did with this outfit. Or, you can add a print when wearing a solid color, or a solid grounding color when wearing prints. Even the way that you choose to button the cardigan can make a difference in the way an outfit looks. Before you head out the door, look at yourself in the mirror with the cardigan left unbuttoned, and then try it with the top button fastened, or just the bottom buttons fastened. Then, you can decide the look you like best and head out the door.

50 IS NOT OLD | ADDING A POP OF COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE | FASHION OVER 40These hot pink lip earrings were a gift from my Energizer Bunny Friend. They are cute and playful, and nothing like what I would normally choose to purchase. I like that they make me step outside that comfort zone that I have circled around me. I would never have thought about earrings as being a way to grow my comfort zone, but I bet that some of you know what I am talking about.

50 IS NOT OLD | ADDING A POP OF COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE | FASHION OVER 40The Coach black pumps are a go-to for me when I want to have a dressy look. I can wear pumps with jeans, dresses, or even shorts. If you have an issue with wearing heels that are this high, then start with a wedge or even a kitten heel, they will give you the same look that you are looking for.
50 IS NOT OLD | ADDING A POP OF COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE | FASHION OVER 40These modern look gingham ankle pants are so cute, you will have to have these. These are sleek and fit great since they have just a hint of spandex added to them. They are high waisted (I am still trying to adjust to this latest trend) and they will look great with even a simple black or white top. This is one of those types of pants that can be flirty and playful or dressed up to be dressier. They will certainly garner the attention when you walk in the room, so practice getting used to people staring at you. Want to guess how much they are, try under 25.00. Go here for the link.

I might be Casper’s twin sister now, but when I was younger, it was a different story. How many of you remember the days of using baby oil and iodine together for suntan lotion? It seemed like a good idea at the time, right?! Eventually, that caught up with me via dark spots on my fair skin ?

You know what? R+F has something for that! It’s called REVERSE. This regimen was what hooked me on R+F. I saw results in 2 weeks, and my readers saw the difference too. The comments started coming in wanting to know what I was doing because I was “glowing.” It is never to late to get your “glow” on! Very cute outfit! I have a pair of B&W gingham pants that I wear with a bright red-orange summer weight sweater with the same effect. Now if it would only warm up enough here in Vermont to be able to wear it!

  7. Bright and cheerful colours are just what we are needing today here in the NW of the UK. The wind blowing a gale and rain hitting the windows makes it a day to stay cosy indoors. I for one will not be going anywhere today. Jill x

    1. Jill, I am not sure all the bright colors can help your dreary day. Stay inside and venture out another day.

      1. Very eye-catching outfit and it looks great! Love the bright pink. I wouldn’t think to buy the earrings myself either but they are cute and work with the outfit. I’m a plan ahead kind of person and a list maker. Or try to be.
