ADDING A BOLD TOUCH
We made it to another wild and wonderful Friday. This week has really flown by for me since I was off on Monday and then I had a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday. I love the weekends even though I don’t do anything exciting normally. This weekend I think I will work on my taxes. (Insert gasp) OR, if that seems too overwhelming, then I might clean out some closets because they are getting out of hand. I have a choice, go buy more hangers or get rid of a lot of the clothes that I don’t wear. So far I have been choosing the hangers. Lol!
I worked in an accounting office many, many years ago and I loved doing tax returns. Somehow it is not near as much fun now that I have gotten older. Before my taxes were pretty straightforward, I had w-2’s and a few expenses but they were easy to file. Now, with the blog, Plunder, and Rodan + Fields added to the mix, it has gotten a lot more complicated. I keep thinking that I will be better organized every year but I know that I probably won’t. I do keep little folders and little totes where I keep receipts but that is about the extent of my organization. It will take me at least a couple of days to get it a legible form to give to the accountant. Anybody else put off filing their taxes until the last day? Lol!!!
I have loved this striped shirt since I bought it a couple years ago. It is one of those no-iron shirts so what is not to love? I think that it is the crispness of the shirt that I like, it looks so “sharp.” This is a classic style and the print is classic also, so I should be able to wear this shirt for many more years to come. I bought this at a Van Heusen outlet store on my way to Georgia to visit my sister. The only thing that I am not happy about with this shirt is that it is not tailored. It is boxier through the torso area and can look sloppy. I am thinking about taking it and having it tailored to fit me better.
I decided to accessorize with red today. I added these lightweight metal statement earrings from Plunder Design. These have a filigree design around the edge that gives these earrings a unique detail. The Diana earrings have a 3.5″ drop and since I just read an article from Vogue that said HUGE earrings are going to be a trend this year you might want to get used to seeing earrings this big. Whoa, these shoes are bright!!! I told you gurls that I believed in being BOLD so I had to put my words into action. I actually love these bright red ankle booties by Bellini. I wanted to wear these boots so I used the red earrings and the bright red lipstick to help to bring the outfit all together. These boots have a higher rise to them than ankle boots and I love that look with the ankle jeans. Here is a different way that I wore the boots way back in 2016.
This is the same short-sleeved cardigan that I wore in yesterday’s post but I didn’t wear them back to back. That just happens to be the way that they hit the blog. The cardigan is several years old and I bought it at Old Navy. It isn’t on the website any longer but I did notice that they are having a huge sale right now so be sure to check that out. I love a good sale!!! I wanted to post this look to show you how you can use a short-sleeve cardigan with a shirt under it for a different look. This works out great on days that the weather is chilly and you want a little warmth.
Ladies, in 16 days I will be heading to Cancun Mexico! I am soooo excited but when I was at the beach this past weekend I couldn’t help and notice that I was the color of sliced bread. Lol! Again…I never thought to put a long sleeve blouse under a short sleeve cardigan. Cute red earrings too. Do you put your sunless tanner on with a mitt and do you also put it on your face and neck? I’ve been using Jergens lotion with the tanner in it as it is forgiving too if you miss a spot but I’m not crazy about the smell so usually put it on at night.
Thanks for commenting on my blog post. I don’t use a mitt, I just use my hands. I wash them really well after I finish applying the lotion. I hate smells also but this is one of the lightest lotions I have tried. You don’t have to worry about missing spots since it is very forgiving. It does not have me feeling like I need to go and shower after I put it on. Lol!
Not everyone can wear bright red lipstick, but it looks great on you!
Love those red boots! My taxes usually get done on the 14th of April and sent on the 15th. I always end up paying, so I may as well keep my money until the last minute! That is the biggest drawback to being self employed! I am like you, every year I think I will be more organized or work on it earlier in the year, but it doesn’t happen! Have a great weekend!
Teresa, we actually got back money last year and we STILL wait until the last day. In fact, we even got an extension. Lol!!!
We don’t usually have our taxes done until this time either. Who is ever in a hurry to pay taxes.? Love the red accents with the blue.

I had to check out the other ways you styled those boots….I loved all of them. I do have to say you look younger now than the other 2 posts. And I like how you style your hair now…..just a little more length really makes a difference!
Marcia, I get a kick out of looking back at older posts too. I can’t believe how much younger I am looking. Some of it is the hair, some of it is the styles, some of it is Rodan + Fields, but it all boils down to confidence. I feel better about myself and it shows in the pictures.
