A CLASSIC BUTTON UP SHIRT IS VERSATILE
Happy Monday, Y’all!!! That is the official greeting on a beautiful Monday morning when you live in the South. I hope everyone had a great weekend and that your Monday is going well. I get a lot of comments or private messages that ask me about the makeup that I use and what I do to maintain my weight. You gurls know that I share pretty much everything in my life, and this is no different. So, I’ll list the makeup that I am using at this time (changes with the seasons) toward the end of the post. And, while I wish that I could say that I have a tried and true method of keeping my weight the same, I struggle like a lot of you.
I started Intermittent Fasting several months ago. I loved the program, and it was working well for me, but then COVID-19 struck, and I got off track. I read the book by Gin Stephens called Delay, Don’t Deny, and that got me started. It is an easy read, and I highly recommend it for those who have never heard of IF and are a beginner like me. What I liked about this IF version was that I could set the time frame that I wanted to eat within, and there was nothing that I couldn’t eat. I chose to eat from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, so I had a five-hour eating window. If I was craving pizza, then I could eat pizza in that window. Of course, if you make good food choices, you’ll lose more weight. But, I wasn’t strict on myself, and I was still able to lose around 1-2 pounds per week. So, my sister and I have decided to start back on IF, and I am reading Gin’s newest book, Fast. Feast. Repeat to get me started. If any of your gurls want to join us in this program, grab the book and follow along. I will try to post each week how I am doing, and maybe that will keep me motivated and motivate others.
This 100% cotton animal print button-up shirt is so pretty. I love a classic button-up shirt, and I find them very versatile. You can wear them long with jeans or leggings, you can tie them in the front, you can leave them open with a t-shirt or cami underneath, and you can wear them tied over a dress. You certainly can get your money’s worth out of a button-up shirt if you are a tiny bit creative. This animal print is gorgeous, and it makes a statement without being too loud. The print is small and dainty, and I can see adding a jacket or a cardigan to this look effortlessly. I am wearing a medium in the shirt, and I think that it fits me perfectly.
My jewelry doesn’t show as well in the photos as it did in person. Oh well, take my word for it, this looked great together. My Maggie large filigree hoop earrings are pretty old, but they are still one of my favorites. The rest of my jewelry is new to me this past month. I’ve been wearing my gold vermeil chain and cross charm daily, and today, I added the Ryder multi-chain necklace and bracelet. I love that the Ryder necklace and bracelet have different size and color chains because that makes it easier to mix and match your metals. I just saw that the bracelet is out of stock, but you can sign up for an email when it comes back in stock. Also, this bracelet is not adjustable, so if your wrist is larger than 7″, this bracelet won’t work for you.
My jeans are the Catalina Wash straight leg jeans from Talbots. I love this color wash because it is not too dark and not too light. These sit above the waist, and the inseam on these jeans is 31″. I usually take a 32″ inseam, but this length worked fine for me. The jeans are also available in Curvy, Petite, and Tall lengths, so they should work for everyone. I am wearing a size 8 in these jeans because I have to size down in Talbots pants.
The handbag that I am carrying is the Kattee leather handbag with the silver hardware. This bag is in Dark Brown, and it is a small size. This is a great handbag, and I love the size of it, and I can’t believe that it is under $60.00!
The shoes that I am wearing are a camel feather loafer from Steve Madden. The website suggested sizing up a 1/2 size, so I am wearing a 9.5 instead of my usual size 9. They are a little big on me, but if I need to add socks, they would be just right. The shoes are on sale right now, and they also come in black and a snake print. I love camel colored shoes; they make a great neutral shoe that will go with almost anything.
Here is a list of makeup products that I use. Beware, I use a LOT!
Highlighter
I will get messages asking me what the product that I am using in the corners of my eye is. That product would be this skin twinkle lighting palette vol. II. I use the first two highlighters in the corners of my eyes to make them look bright, and I use these also right under my brow bone. The other two highlighters will go on my cheekbones for a little extra highlight in that area.
Lipstains
Most of you probably know that I prefer lip stains over regular lipstick. I am lazy, and I don’t like having to reapply lipsticks, and I don’t want my lipstick coming off on my coffee cup, etc. I just started using this Matte lipstick by Maybelline. It stays on all day, doesn’t rub off, and comes in lots of gorgeous colors. Now, since this is matte, it is dry, and a lot of us don’t like our lips to be dry. After I apply the lip stain and it dries, I will then apply a lip color topcoat by CoverGirl. This moisturizes the lips and keeps them from feeling so dry. However, it doesn’t affect the staying capabilities of the lip stain.
Mascara
Right now, I am using Maneater from Tarte. But I also love Roller Lash, They’re Real and BADGal Bang from Benefit equally as well. These mascaras don’t flake, and they remove reasonably easy. I don’t care for waterproof mascaras because they are so hard to remove, and I feel like they damage my eyelashes. If you want a great deal, you can get a full-size bundle that contains all 3 of the Benefit mascaras for a fraction of the cost.
Eyeshadow Pallets
I have a lot of eyeshadow palettes, but these from Tarte are the ones that I use the most. The Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay Palette has the most colors, and I love brown and burgundy for my eyeshadow colors. The Tarte Amazonian Clay Palette, the Tarte in Bloom, and the Maneater Eye and Cheek palette are great palettes for fall!
Concealer
Everyone raves about Tarte Shape Tape concealer. But, I found that it creased when applied under my eyes, and I was not a huge fan. I thought that it was just me, but I figured out that others were also having that same problem. So, I tried the Creaseless Concealer, and the problem was solved. I use the light sand color, and I also blend the product in with a wet beauty sponge.
Blush
Once again, a Tarte product. Lol! I like a blush palette since I can mix the colors to get the perfect color for me. I use the first two colors more for summer, and then I will use the second and third colors for fall. The last color will be used as a contour or bronzing color for me. This Life of the Party blush clutch is cute, it comes with a mirror, and the blushes can be removed, making the case a real clutch. There are slots for credit cards, a little cash, and it is large enough to hold my iPhone 11 Pro Max. The blushes are in a magnetic case so that they won’t fall out of the clutch.
Eyeliner
I’ve been using this waterproof clay pot shadow eyeliner for a long time. I like that it is waterproof since I place it on my waterline and on my eye like a regular eyeliner. I use black, but for some reason, that color is not on the website. They have a deep merlot or cabernet color that looks pretty, but I’ve not tried either of them.
Foundation
Foundation is not the right word, but I know that it is the description that you would understand the best. I’ve not used a true foundation or cc cream for over two years. When R+F announced Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid, I was horribly underwhelmed. I had been using IT CC Cream + Illumination for a long time, and I loved the product. I tried the Radiant Defense, and it was so different from what I was used to using, that after two weeks, I decided to go back to It Cosmetics. That was a bad mistake on my part. What I had initially thought was lightweight coverage when I was using It Cosmetics was horribly thick to me once I had gotten used to Radiant Defense. RD is very sheer and lightweight, non-cosmogenic (won’t clog pores), and it is skincare that just looks like makeup. So, it is good for your skin instead of just covering up your skin. I use different colors at different times of the year, but I am combining Honey and Sand to get the color that I want. Of course, I also use the R+F brush that comes with a great case to protect the bristles.
WHEW! That is what I do every day!!!
I wanted to make sure that everyone knows about the TWO specials I am running until the end of the month. The first is on LASH BOOST!!! You’ve seen my eyelashes, now look at my daughters. My daughter was always blessed with long, pretty lashes, so she didn’t think that she needed Lash Boost. WRONG! Look at her excellent results!!! She likes to rub it in that her lashes are longer than mine. Lol! This month only, purchase Lash Boost as my Preferred Customer and get a $20.00 discount from ME. If you are a brand new customer, I will reimburse you for the 19.95 one-time enrollment fee. Plus, as my PC, you will get a 10% discount off the retail pricing and FREE shipping!
My other special is going to be, purchase one of our four core regimens (Redefine, Reverse, Soothe, or UnBlemish), add Active Hydration Serum, and I’ll gift you Redefine Multi-Function Eye Cream. (64.00 value for FREE) Purchase MUST be made as my Preferred Customer. This offer is good for existing and new PCs, and yes, I’ll reimburse the enrollment fee. I don’t think that you should ever have to pay to be my customer. If you are not sure what regimen to use, then take the Solutions Tool and see what they recommend.

To God Goes The Glory!
Psalm 8:3-5
3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 5 You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.
Hi Tania!!!! I love your posts 🙂 Do you remember what color lip stain are you wearing in this post?
Shonna, I’m sorry, I don’t remember.
I’m interested in your skin care routine. I took the quiz & the Redefine regimen was recommended. What is the difference between Redefine & Reverse? And do I order lash boost separate or in the bundle?
Ann, it is exciting to hear that you are interested in putting yourself and your skin as a priority. Redefine in our anti-aging line, and it addresses fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, and loss of firmness that comes with aging. Reverse is for those with sun damage, and it addresses dark spots and dullness that comes with aging. Ordering Lash Boost in a bundle will save you 20% off of the price of Lash Boost, so that is the smartest move!
I love button ups. I wear them around the house. Since I don’t tuck, I may tie them in front if they tun a little too loose.
I wear the heavier ones over a long sleeve tee or sweatshirt in Winter. I have a short sleeve leopard but have yet to spring for a long sleeve. This one is great because the design is small. Is it no iron? Fits you perfect.
I would like more information re R & F. I have dry skin and I’m starting to get wrinkles. Is there a specific line for these problems? I took the survey, but I’m still unsure and it’s an investment.
Thank you in advance
Shelia, I saw that RF recommended the Redefine line. That is our anti-aging skincare, and I have been using it for 4 years. It addresses fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, and the loss of firmness that comes with aging. I add the Active Hydration Serum to my regimen which also helps with dry skin. I am glad that you understood that it is an investment because that is exactly what you are doing. You are declaring your worth and investing in your skin. The good thing about RF is that you have a 60-day money-back guarantee, so you really don’t have anything to lose by trying. If you don’t like the products, you can send them back.
Thanks for sharing a little bit about your IF journey. I started intermittent fasting in June, after reading Delay, Don’t Deny, and later read Feast, Fast, Repeat, both by Gin Stephens, and I’ve lost 15 pounds so far! It’s so good to see that other people talking about this lifestyle.
I wish that I had kept it up this spring, but I let circumstances kick me off the wagon. It is an easy program, and I love that I can have anything that I want as long as I keep it within my fasting window.
I like your hoop earrings. I struggle with earring selection since I wear glasses all the time. Could you comment on how to wear earrings and glasses so they don’t compete with each other, pls? I’m tired of wearing studs all the time. Thanks!
I don’t wear glasses anymore, but I do wear blue light glasses. I pay them no attention, and I wear earrings to match my look.
My stepdaughters and I have all had some struggles with food- like eating enough. My oldest said she noticed hers recurring with if so she has stopped.
You look great!
Everyone has to find what works for them.
I enjoy your post big fan. I have a question I never see you carry a crossbody bag. Is 50 yrs old to old for a crossbody bag?
Absolutely, you can carry a crossbody!
I have been doing IF since January. I love the control I feel with IF, and no more guilt. I can cook and bake, which I love, and enjoy during my window. I didn’t have a lot to lose, and I am still hoping that my body shape will change, less around the middle. My husband joined me this summer, and it is helping level his blood sugar a little; he is a diabetic. I am also reading her second book.
I am hoping that Joe will want to join me also, but he loves eating lots of food, so I am not holding my breath. Lol!
I’m with you on the benefits of IF – I did it over Lent and really liked it, but needed more nutritional info. Started “FASTer Way to Fat Loss” last week and the amount of science-based nutrition and one-on-one counseling with a certified coach has been awesome! They work with carb-cycling to help boost your system and I’m a big fan (especially at my age of 56). LMK if you ever want more info! 🙂 Love following your blog and was completely blown away to see your age… you look fantastic! <3
Alison, I love all of the science-based facts about IF also. I did the Faster way to fat loss, but I found it way to complicated. I didn’t like having to figure out the amount of fat, carbs, etc., and then remember which days that I could eat certain things. The Delay, Don’t Deny approach is simple, and I need simple. Lol!
I didn’t see your eyebrow product. I have sparse eyebrows and would love your recommendation.
Sandra, I didn’t mention that since I am using R+F’s Brow Defining Boost. I sometimes feel like people don’t believe me when I say that I am using R+F products, and that I am only trying to sell them a product. This is what I am using, and I have noticed a pretty big difference in my brows since I started 2 months ago.
Happy Monday! Meant to mention that I tried the Tarte eyeliner pot you recommended and it’s fabulous! First product to ever survive my teary waterline! Bought the grey color and it’s lovely. Thanks, gurl!
When I was linking to the product, I wondered about the gray color. It looks very soft and pretty.
The grey is very forgiving if you mess up! Lol!!
Happy Monday! My hubby went to a diëtist last year, it’s all about changing your eating habits and not eating less. He eats more now, 7 times a day! But it worked!
I have tried the eat several small meals a day method, and that doesn’t work for me. I know that a lot of people swear by it, but it isn’t the best program for me.
