4 Casual Summer Outfits I’ve Worn Lately But Haven’t Shared Yet

Gurls, sometimes I take outfit photos, fully intend to share them, and then they get buried in my camera roll like that one thing I went upstairs to get and immediately forgot. Surely I’m not alone in this. Lol!

Today’s post is a little catch-up of four outfits I’ve worn lately but haven’t shared on the blog yet. These are the kinds of outfits I reach for in real life, not just for a photo. They are easy, comfortable, and polished enough that I could run errands, meet someone for lunch, go to church, or do all three in the same day.

And since summer dressing can get tricky when it is hot enough outside to make Lucy reconsider her bathroom schedule, I’m always looking for pieces that feel cool but still look like I made an effort. These outfits check that box.

When Linen Gets a Little Personality

This first outfit is a great example of how a third piece can pull everything together, even in the summer. I know, I know, nobody wants to wear a jacket when it feels like the surface of the sun outside, but this Two Palms Linen Raw-Edge Jacket is lightweight and relaxed, not stiff or heavy. I’m wearing a large size, and I like the easy fit. It gives me enough room through the shoulders and arms without feeling oversized.

This outfit feels like something I’d wear to lunch with my sister, and then she’d say, “Where did you get those pants?” before I even sat down. Sisters notice everything, don’t they?

The raw-edge detail keeps the jacket from looking too serious. A regular white denim jacket can sometimes feel a little structured for hot weather, but this one has a softer, beachy feel. It’s the kind of piece I’d throw on over a tank, a sleeveless dress, or even a column of black for dinner on vacation. I love a little color in the summer, especially on the bottom half, because it makes a simple white tank look intentional. These have that relaxed linen look, which means they wrinkle a little. That is linen’s love language. If wrinkles bother you, linen may not be your best friend, but if you like that casual, breezy look, these are perfect.

The tapered leg is also a nice option if you don’t love a full, wide-leg pant. It gives you room through the hips and thighs but narrows slightly toward the ankle, so you don’t feel swallowed up in fabric. A Fresh Take on White Jeans for Summer

I’m wearing a medium, and the fit is good. It has enough shape to keep it from looking boxy, but it isn’t clingy through the middle. That’s always a win in my book.

This outfit is proof that simple does not have to mean boring. A black sleeveless top and light-wash jeans are about as easy as it gets, but the textures and accessories make it feel pulled together.

That little detail makes the outfit feel coordinated without looking like I tried to match every single thing down to my toenail polish, although let’s be honest, I probably thought about it.

Some sleeveless tops cut in too far and make me feel like I need to stand at attention all day, but this one gives nice coverage while still feeling summery. This is also a great top for women over 50 who want something cooler than a tee but not as bare as a skinny-strap tank. It gives that “summer, but make it grown-up” look. I would wear this with white jeans, linen pants, shorts, or even under a blazer later in the season.

Now, let’s talk about these Wide Leg Jeans. I’m wearing a large, but I needed a medium. The large was too roomy, and with wide-leg denim, too much fabric can go from chic to “I borrowed Joe’s pants” real fast. The style itself is cute, but I’d size down to the medium for a better fit through the waist and hips.

The light denim wash is great for summer, and the wide leg gives the outfit movement. I added the Dolce Vita Laurie Wedge Sandal , which are true to size, and the platform wedge helps balance the width of the jeans. That’s important. When pants have volume, a little height can make the whole outfit look more intentional.

A Pop of Green Makes Denim Feel New Again

This last outfit is casual, but the color and texture make it feel a little special. The Floral Embellished Pullover Sweater is in a medium, and I love the green color. It is bright enough to feel fresh for summer, but not so neon that people can spot you from three counties over.

This outfit feels like a nice everyday look for running errands, meeting a friend, or heading to a casual dinner. It has color, shape, and comfort, which is pretty much the summer outfit trifecta.

The floral embellishment on the front gives it a pretty detail without being fussy. I like tops like this because they are still easy to wear with jeans, but they don’t feel plain. The High-Rise Wide-Leg Jeans are a size 8, and these fit much better than the lighter pair from the previous outfit. The darker wash makes them feel a little more polished, and the wide-leg shape is modern but still wearable. I know wide-leg jeans are not everyone’s favorite, but this pair is a good example of how they can work when the fit is right. The higher rise helps hold everything in, and the leg opening is full without being overwhelming.

I wore the Orthopedic Espadrille Wedge Sandals in a size 9 to 9.5, and these are a good option when you want height but still need comfort. I love a wedge with wide-leg jeans because it keeps the hem from dragging and helps lengthen the leg line.

A Few Easy Takeaways From These Outfits

The thing I noticed when looking back at these four outfits is that none of them are complicated. They are all built around pieces most of us already wear: jeans, linen pants, sleeveless tops, lightweight sweaters, and simple accessories.

That is what I want my closet to do for me at this stage of life. I don’t want to fight with my clothes. I want pieces that fit, flatter, and make getting dressed easier. I’ve got enough other things to deal with, like remembering where I put my glasses while they are sitting on top of my head.

Final Thoughts

These four casual summer outfits are all easy to wear, but each one has something that makes it feel a little more pulled together. That is usually my goal. I don’t need to be dressed up all the time, but I do like looking intentional.

A lightweight jacket, a pretty printed top, a flattering pair of jeans, or a great summer bag can make a simple outfit feel finished. And thankfully, none of these require shapewear, complicated layering, or standing in front of the mirror for 30 minutes questioning every life choice.
