Two weeks from today is the 4th of July. How, did that happen? It seems like only yesterday I was talking about resolutions and grumbling about it being colder than I wanted. I always look forward to this time of the year though because I will be having houseguests. Well, not really guests since they are family, but my house will be full and running over. Emersyn celebrates her 5th birthday that week and my other grandchildren will make the trek to good old Virginia.
I was so glad to hear that you all liked my post yesterday. I knew that I loved those glasses when I got them and I am really happy to hear that you liked them also. I am very picky when it comes to sponsored posts and I refuse to do one if I don’t like the item, that would just be flat out fibbing. It is not worth it to me to do that for a few bucks. You would be surprised at some of the offers that I get. Some of them make me laugh and some I will just shake my head at and think, “who does these posts?”
When I was in 5th grade I was sitting beside one of my good friends and we were talking about what was on the blackboard. She mentioned something on the board and as hard as I tried, I just couldn’t see what she was talking about. Finally, I asked her where she was seeing it. She very nicely pointed it out to me but I still couldn’t see it. Then she took off her glasses and handed them to me and said, “now see if you can see it.” Oh, My Goodness!!! There was a whole other world out there that I never knew existed. I couldn’t wait to tell my mother about my discovery. When I went to the eye doctor it was discovered that I was far-sighted and that I also had astigmatism.
2 Corinthians 6:18
And, “I will be a Father to you and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
Happy Father’s Day, Lord!
Everyone reading this blog post has a reason to celebrate today! Everyone reading this has a loving, caring, giving, forgiving father!
I will be honest, I don’t like writing “themed” posts. What I mean by that is that I don’t like having to write about a particular subject. Think about Father’s Day for instance. I have a wonderful earthly father! I am blessed that he loved me and was always in my corner. I knew that no matter what I could go to him and he would make everything better. My father is the best and I wish him the very best day that is possible. HOWEVER, I am not writing this post just for me and my father. I realize that everyone might not have had a loving father and in fact, some people had fathers who were not present or you might have wished that they were not present in your life. If that is the case, then days like this are hard to celebrate.
So, for awhile today, let’s put aside our earthly fathers. Let’s focus our eyes and our hearts to our Father in Heaven that is a constant. How many of you have ever said the Lord’s Prayer?
Matthew 6: 9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
I bet most of you can recite this from memory, I know that I can. I love how this begins, “Our FATHER which art in HEAVEN.” That gives me such comfort. No matter what is going on in your life at this very moment, you have the watchful eye of your Father who is in Heaven. He is fully aware of what is going on in your life. Do you call out to Him in times of trouble? Do you excitedly thank Him in times of joy?
If your earthly father was not the Hallmark version that some people have, then you might struggle to look to your Heavenly Father. If you would never have gone to your earthly father for advice or help then you might find it difficult to go to your Heavenly Father. If your earthly father could not find joy in your happiness then you might find it hard to share your thoughts with your Heavenly Father. You must learn to separate the two in your mind. One is human and flawed and one is Godly and perfect. One might not have been able to show affection but the other knows what you need before you even ask it. (Matthew 6:8)
Today, I want to leave you with a few verses about “your” Father’s love in hopes that today will be the best Father’s Day that you have ever had.
Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
1 John 3:1
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
Have A Blessed Day!
I heard all of you loud and clear on yesterday’s post. I gather that you liked the more relaxed outdoor setting so I will see what I can do about trying to make that happen more often. I love taking pictures outdoors also but it has a completely different set of rules than taking pictures on my porch. I have to pay attention to the sun and it can’t be in my eyes but it needs to be on my face. It can’t be raining and I need to pay close attention to what is in the background. Those are actually hard problems to overcome but I am going to give it a go. When it rains though, I will be under the porch. Lol! I love keeping it real but I don’t think anyone wants to see flat, wet hair and makeup that is running. If that appeals to you then I will take my pictures when I get out of the shower. Lol!!!
Okay, this feels weird. Just for fun, I decided to see if I could take pictures that weren’t on my porch. When you use a camera on a tripod and use the timer you have to focus the camera before you start the timer. The problem is that you have to have something in the picture so that the camera can focus. So, I chose this tree to stand in front of. I focus on the tree, set the timer, and then run and get in the picture. Lol! It is almost comical to watch the whole process.
Hey, gurls!!! I need to contact Willie Nelson and see if he will let me use one of his songs for my theme song. Can you guess which one? I am sure you already figured it out, it would be, “On The Road Again.”Lol! I tell you gurls, that this house is AH-MAZING! I walked in and my mouth flew wide open and it didn’t shut the entire 3 hours that I was there.
I am really loving my destination pictures. I may have to start a travel blog so that I can go and have my pictures made. It really brings some interest to the outfits. I love my front porch because it is easy but it is so much nicer to see the ocean and the sand than it is to see painted brick and dirty concrete. Lol!
We are back from vacation and we had a great time while we were there. It was wonderful to spend some time with the kids but the best thing was just being able to walk down to the beach and chill for a couple of hours. In the past, we had gotten to where we wouldn’t go on vacations in the summer because that is the busiest time for the lumber company. But, there was a week that wasn’t already rented so we decided to sneak away for a couple of days.
I am sure that you have seen the pearl embellished jeans trend by now. If you haven’t then you need to perk up and pay attention because you are going to want to have a pair of these jeans. I have been searching for a pair but the ones that I had looked at before all seem to have a tiny something about them that I didn’t like. This pair, however, checked off all of the boxes and I can now pronounce them, “practically perfect in every way!”
