It was a beautiful weekend with warm temperatures and very little rain. I enjoyed getting to sit by the swimming pool and watch my granddaughter swim, even though I decided not to participate in the fun myself. We even enjoyed a great dinner with some friends at their house which is always amazing since she is such a good cook. Emersyn tagged along also, and was thrilled to get to swim with their daughter, especially since they had a slide for their pool. Guess who is now begging her Pa to install a slide? Lol!

While I was outside yesterday, I was talking to my son, and I noticed a tiny little praying mantis crawling up the side of the building. This little guy was only about an inch long, but it was the first one that I had seen this summer. Later that afternoon, I was watering my ferns on the back porch, and another praying mantis starting crawling up the brick. This guy was probably about two inches long. Finally, I decided to write the blog while sitting on the back porch, and I looked up to see the third praying mantis walk across the concrete. This guy was about three inches long. I thought that it was interesting that I hadn’t seen this insect all summer long, and then I saw one three times in three different locations in one day. So, I decided to take a photo of one and show him to all of you.

As you can see from this photo, he is a tiny little guy. I am sure that he had been enjoying hiding in my ferns and decided to climb the wall once I started watering them. Once I took the picture, I thought that you might like a closeup photo of him so that you could see the classic “praying” hands.

When I looked at this photo, I thought how scary and terrifying the little guy looked. From the picture, you can’t gauge his size, so you wouldn’t know that he is only a couple of inches big. I’m not sure why this came to my mind, but I started to think about how our problems might be similar to this praying mantis. Maybe we are so focused on the issue that we can’t see the big picture. I know that I tend to put things under a microscope, and that gives me a distorted view. Backing off, and reassessing things, can give you a perspective that you were missing before. So, the next time your too close and things look overwhelming, back-off, reassess, and think about this praying mantis.

Don’t ask me where the above came from, I just felt the need to share. Also, I am feeling the need to share the details of my outfit, and later a story about my skirt. First off, I have mentioned before that I don’t own a lot of t-shirts, so I set out to remedy that situation. I ordered in a bunch of tees from Old Navy, and I have been wearing them a lot lately. Soft, flowy, comfortable, a longer length, and something that didn’t show my lumps and bumps was what I wanted. This Luxe V-Neck Slub Tee in the color, spice, was perfect. I can wear this with jeans or under a blazer with dress pants, so it is very versatile. I order a size large in all of the tees that I ordered because I didn’t want to feel self-conscious when I wore them. I loved the fit, so I also ordered this in several more of the colors. Right now the website is showing this tee to be on sale, but I have no idea if that will still be the case by the time that you read this post. But, here are a few more tees that I know that you will love.

Guess what? I’ve got new Kendra Scott jewelry to show all of you! I bought this set the other day when I caught them on sale, and I love the creamy beachy color of the stone. The Margot Vintage Gold Hoop Earrings are lightweight, which I love. They are a medium size hoop, and the white Abalone stone is set on the front of the hoop. The matching Mckenna necklace is also in vintage gold and features a larger white Abalone pendant. The vintage gold color is almost a cross between gold and rose gold, and it is a beautiful color. I like the bold look of the necklace, and it is 20″ long with a 2″ extender. There are three other colors available in this set, but I went with the neutral shade.

Okay, y’all, listen to me. On Thursday, I decided to take several photos for the upcoming week. As I was walking through the room to get to my shoes for each outfit, Joe was watching me and commenting on each look. He gave me the thumbs up on each outfit, but when it came to this outfit, he bragged and bragged and bragged. He mentioned the outfit again later that night and said, “I don’t know why you don’t wear more dresses and skirts.” My point is this, maybe a dress or skirt might be something that your husband would also enjoy seeing you wear.

Because I know a lot of you don’t, or can’t, wear heels, I wanted to show you this outfit wearing a pair of flats also. I love the espadrille wedge shoes with the two different colored straps. They are comfortable, they are a great neutral, they fit true to size, they look great with shorts, jeans, dresses, and crops, and they are affordable. The cross band espadrille flats are equally as cute, but they are more casual than the wedge heels. It is probably the frayed edges of the bands that lend to the casual vibe. I am wearing my usual size 9 in both of these shoes, and they fit me perfectly.

I almost didn’t order this cute skirt because I was afraid that it would be too short. The description calls this skirt a Printed Flutter Mini Skirt, and I am not going to start wearing “mini skirts.” But, I kept looking at the skirt and thinking that it didn’t look too short. I am glad that I took the chance and ordered the skirt because it is not a bit short. I am 5’6″ tall, and I have fairly long legs, and this is hitting me at my knees. I am wearing a size large in the skirt, and I think that it fits me great.

I am channeling Cher today. I don’t care what age you are right now, it is time for you to “Turn back time.” That means that you need to be using the best skincare that you can afford instead of whatever is on sale at your pharmacy. Your skin is precious, your face is the first thing that people see, and you deserve to treat yourself. You can look back to 2015-2016 to see the difference that this product has made in my skin and in my confidence. I started the products in May of 2016, and I’ll be using them from now on.

    1. Where is the skirt from ???

  2. Your praying mantis message was for me!! We are near the end of a home remodel project and the end task are all messed up! I needed to step back! Thank you!????

  3. I saw on a few days ago but he was full sized and on my fence so he turned brown. I love the way they swivel their heads to see you!

The sandals are soooo cute but I’m so over fringey ragged edges. I keep thinking something is walking on me. We have had a long spring of feral cats along with fleas and I keep getting bites. DH sprayed but I keep feeling little legs tickling me. I think if it was a praying mantis I’d probably scream. Walking on fence, good. On me, no bueno.
