I’m 5 feet tall so I have the same issue but I love a wide leg flowy pant. it is super comfortable and with a pair of heels looks dressy w/o having to wear a dress. Amazon recommended a large, but I sized down to a medium in some. They all fit about the same since the waist is elastic.

I love this post! I especially liked the first pair (yellow/blue pattern, tie waist), and I noticed you ordered a size Large. It seems like you usually wear Medium. Would you say these run small? I normally order a Large in elastic waist pants so I’m wondering if I should go up to XL in these.
I go between medium and large. With elastic waist items, I can get by wearing a large, even if they are too big. However, if they are too small, they pull and don’t look good. So, I will sometimes err on the side of picking larger items.

I’m petite and moved all my wide legged pants into the donate box. I didn’t like how they made me look even shorter. I’m going to have to shop for sandals and tops that work better with the wider leg linen pants. So glad I saw this post before I donated them. 🙂
Shoes can make all the difference. Also, you need to keep the tops cropped, tucked, or slimmer fitting.

If you don’t feel comfortable tucking your top, try pairing wide-leg pants with a peplum top, or shorter top, or even a cute blouse with a curved hem. Dolman sleeve tees, empire waist tops, or even twist-front shirts are super flattering too—they skim over the belly without clinging. You could also layer a lightweight kimono or jacket over a simple tee to add shape without showing your waist. It’s all about finding what makes you feel confident!
