50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKAThe vacation is winding down and while I hate saying goodbye to Ashleigh but I am looking forward to getting back to home. I miss being in my own house, I miss sleeping in my own bed, and I miss my routine. It is funny how we get set in our routines and it is hard to change.  50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKA We took a 7-hour tour out to Tracy Arm. At the end of the fjord were two Glaciers, the Sawyer and the South Sawyer. As we started getting closer to our destination we started seeing floating pieces of ice. This was the largest piece of ice we saw and it was way larger than the boat we were own. I have to be honest the movie Titanic kept coming to mind. 50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKA Here on this smaller piece of ice, you see a couple of harbor seals taking a rest. They say that the seals come up in this area to have their pups because they are more protected from predators. 50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKA This is the South Sawyer Glacier. It is the one that has been dropping all the ice. It is breaking apart and retreating and it has retreated over a mile since last year.  50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKA This is the Sawyer Glacier and it is way more stable. It has almost reached equilibrium, not advancing or retreating. You can see this Glacier is more solid looking than the other one.50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKAIf you visit Alaska or any place that is colder you need to layer to stay warm. I started with an underlayment hooded top. You want this top to be tight fitting and hug your body. If the top clings to your body then air can not flow up under the top and get you cold. Then I wore a sweatshirt on top of the underlayment. This was a really cute and extremely soft sweatshirt that I bought while I was here in town. Ashleigh is friends with the girl was designs and makes this tops. 50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKANext, I added a jacket for warmth. This jacket is lightweight and warm but it is not waterproof. There is one my daughter’s jacket and it is by Arcteryx. I wore this the entire time I was here, I wonder if she will miss this when I pack it in my bag.

50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKAA good waterproof jacket is worth its weight in gold if you live here. When Ashleigh first moved up here she figured out quickly that she needed waterproof items. When she got all of her items inside her backpack wet she understood that EVERYTHING needed to be waterproof.

50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKAHere is how it looks when everything is all layered together. If you get hot you can just start taking off layers. You can tell that this was at the end of the day after we got back from the cruise. My hair is flat from having the hoods pulled up every time we went outside to take pictures. The small amount of makeup that I had on earlier has almost been rubbed off. Lol! I look worn out. Haha! 50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKA Here is a good look at the socks I have fallen in love with. These are called Feetures and they are expensive little suckers but I would love a couple more pairs. They are supposed to be blister proof and guaranteed. My pair is the calf version and Ashleigh has the ankle version.50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR IN ALASKA

  1. I have huge blisters on both feet. Wish I had heard of those socks before I abused my poor litttle feet. Love your Alaska outfits and your pictures are breathtaking.
