Getting outside of your comfort zone is never easy, it is downright HARD. It is called comfort zone for a reason, that is where you are the most comfortable. For me, I have been someone who was reserved and stayed in the background. That doesn’t mean that I wanted to be in the background, it means that I was afraid to put myself in the foreground.
This entire past weekend in San Francisco, I just kept shaking my head and thinking, “who is this person and what did she do with Tania?” I hardly even recognize the person in the mirror staring back at me, and I wonder how I kept myself hidden even from myself for so long. When we arrived at the headquarters of R+F, we found out that they had rolled out the “red carpet,” literally. This was an amazing feeling, and I can’t imagine how movie stars feel getting that done for them all the time. Even the small things, like getting to grab a quick photo in the office of Katie and Kathy made me feel like I could take on the world. These two women have made such a huge difference in the lives of so many people with their products. My own daughter used ProActiv when she was a teenager (I bet you know someone who used it too) and now they are helping us all to age gracefully. I am in awe how two women have had such a huge impact, and I wondered if we all had the ability inside of us. Maybe they believed more in stepping outside of their comfort zone. This small group of ladies ranges in age from their early twenties to their late fifties. I might have been the oldest person at this event but who knows, they all use great skincare so you can’t tell anyone’s age. Lol! The personalities ranged from extroverted and confident to quite and subdued. Wasn’t this office space beautiful and did you catch a glimpse of that view?!? This smaller group, minus one or two, are who I ended up bonding with and talking to the most. Do they look like me? Of course, the answer is no, but that didn’t stop us from having an amazing time laughing and dancing. (later in the post)There was a “celebration” dinner the last night we were there. Just looking at this table would have been enough to have sent me into fits in the past. Why? One of the phobias that I am working hard to overcome is the fear of rejection. What if I ask to sit down and they say they are saving the seats? What if no one comes and sits down beside me? What if I end up sitting here all by myself? Look around when you attend an event and see if someone looks alone and then invite them to join your party. The dress for the evening was “Cocktail attire” so I proceeded to have a cocktail. Lol! I am not a huge drinker, and wine can make my face turn bright red, so I asked the bartender to add sprite to my drink. He found my “wine spritzer” hilarious and soon had me laughing with him. Just look at these ladies for a few minutes, you will see many different ages, from all over the country and one from Canada, and many different styles. It just goes to show you that there is no right or wrong way to dress or to act. You need to be you and dress to suit your style. My dress is the most conservative of them but it was stylish, elegant, age-appropriate, and it fit me perfectly. Plus, it was the only dress in my closet that I hadn’t worn before and had sleeves. (somewhat) Lol! These two were a barrel of fun, but I bet you guessed that already. We (EBF) rode in from the airport with the girl in green and learned about her dad (he was a major league starting pitcher) and her that her husband is in the minor leagues. The lady in the middle had her husband along for the trip and was headed to Napa Valley for a couple of days when this event was over. He went out to dinner with us one night and was extremely friendly. Ladies that I had never seen before this trip are now friends that I am going to stay in touch with. I would have never gotten the chance to meet this sweet and beautiful lady if I had stayed home. Dancing was part of the fun, and almost everyone joined in the activity. The music was over a wild variety of genres so there was something that everyone could relate to. I think the ladies were dancing to the Cupid Shuffle here, but I knew better than to dance to that song, it seems like it lasts forever. Lol! So, as you can see, while getting outside of your comfort zone is not easy…it can be so rewarding. I am still a work in progress in this area, but at least I am progressing. I certainly look forward to many more growing experiences in the future. “This is my unique story. For info re: typical results search Rodan + Fields IDS.”

Dang it, Kim, I wish that I had known you were close. It probably wouldn’t have worked out anyway since I didn’t get into town until after 9:00 pm on Thursday. I hope that isn’t my last trip to San Francisco, so the next time we HAVE to meet.
Oh I can relate to o many of your statements about “what if no one sits w/me, etc.” but I too have had to get out of my comfort zone thru church activities. I doubt I would ever be brave enough to go where you’ve gone & do what you’ve done. Plus I would never have something important to say everyday to followers like you do! We all look forward to your post everyday! This one was fantastic & let us live vicariously thru you at a very lavioush, fun event! You & your EBF look like you’re having a blast! And are GORGEOUS!
