WHAT FABRIC IS GREAT FOR WEARING ALL YEAR
This week is flying by quickly. I can’t believe that today is already Thursday and we are almost a third of the way through this month. One of the things that I have been trying to incorporate in my day is to get my outside chores done early in the morning. The temperature has been soaring into the 90s lately, so if I don’t get everything done before 10:00 am, then I am a sweaty mess when I head outside.
I have also tried to start walking in the mornings. I know that I need to start out slowly and build up to more mileage, so I am only walking a mile every morning. It is quite and peaceful on my walk, and I sometimes listen to podcasts, sermons, self-care books, etc. I have found that listening to something makes the time go by more quickly. After I get back to the house, then I will water the outside flowers, clean the filters in the pool, and any other chore that needs to be done before heading inside. I have found that being productive early in the morning makes me feel better. So, I am now going to start trying to have the next day’s blog post finished before noon, instead of by 10:00 pm. What kind of tips or tricks do you gurls have for getting things done early so that you have the rest of the day free?
You have heard me talk about my love of wearing linen in the summer months because of the heat, but today, I am going to tell you about the fabric that is great for wearing all year. I love wearing 100% cotton clothing. Cotton is a natural fabric and it is breathable. It actually protects you in the summer and winter, since it traps air between the fabric fibers. So, cotton keeps you cool in the summer, and warm in the winter. Cotton is also a strong fabric, soft, and it is usually not a fabric that will cause an allergic reaction in people. No, I am not being sponsored by the cotton association, I just thought that you might like to know the “why” behind the cotton choice.
I was shocked when I received this floral top because the color was different than in the photo. I don’t know if mine was the only one that was different, or if the photo on the website just had strange lighting. I love the top that I received much better than the color on the website, so I was pleasantly surprised! The beautiful floral print is vibrant, but it is not bright. I love the v-neckline and the flowy bishop sleeves since both are flattering. I am wearing a medium in this top, and you can see that it is roomy and fits me perfectly.
The Veronica crystal-studded hoop earrings from Kendra Scott are a perfect size. I want my earrings to be seen, but not overwhelming. I added the Fallyn cuff link bracelet along with a neutral beaded bracelet from Chicos. I am loving simple jewelry this year, and am wearing more neutrals, and plain gold or silver.
This Eliza May Rose tote is super cute. The removable paper pompoms add color and whimsy to the tote. I love how the colors of the pompoms brought out the colors of the shirt. This is made from 100% paper, so it is lightweight even though it is a nice sized handbag. This is fabulous for summer, especially at the price.
The button hemmed crop pants in aqua make a statement. The aqua is such a fabulous summer color, and the pants are also available in a lot more colors. So, you are bound to find the color that suits you best. These pants are 98% cotton and 2% spandex, so they will be cool and have a small amount of stretch to them. I am wearing a size 8 in these pants because I have found that I need to size down when wearing Talbots pants. I think that these fit me perfectly, and I love the straight leg style.
Today, I am starting a transformation Thursday. I’ll start with me, but each week, I’ll share someone else’s transformation. You might have seen this photo before. It is a photo of me in my 30’s, and one this year when I turned 60. A lot has transformed in my life. Of course, it is easy to see that my hair color and hairstyle has changed over the years, but what isn’t easy to see is the change in my confidence level. In my 30s, I was even shyer than now, and had doubts in my ability to be a good mother, wife, friend, and even in my ability to be a good worker at my job. My point is, no matter where you are in life now, that doesn’t mean that is where you have to stay. It is up to you to try and change, and self-improvement books can help. Of course, I also think that the way you dress and present yourself has a huge effect on your mindset also. So, use my examples for fashion and dress in a way that you feel confident. Apply some makeup to help you feel pretty. And, if you are interested in the skincare that I use, then go here and take the solutions tool to see what you should use.

I just found you and can relate to you so much. I keep thinking I should walk but never do. You are an inspiration. I will be 60 next week and have been trying to dress comfortably classy not frumpy. You have nailed it. Keep up the good work.
I love the 80’s pic! I look back to the 90’s, when I was a new mom. No confidence, horrible clothes… mom jeans, and mom hair! I wish I knew then, what I know now. Maybe some of us are just late bloomers?
Thanks for sharing!
I am going to need that tote! So cute!

Hi, Over the past couple of years, I have become a huge fan of linen and now try to collect pieces that are special. My Mom is looking down at me now, cracking up. She adored anything linen. I used to tease her about wearing the same type things all the time. Now I do the same. Yes Mom, you were right!
Thank you so much for what you share. It is lovely!
You look cute in everything. I love the pants… I just ordered the navy ones.
You were pretty at 30. You are beautiful today. I love this soft, summer look right down to your pink toenails. I’ve heard an accent color should be repeated 3 times. Do you do that? I find that I mostly do. Shoes, jewelry, nail polish, necklace, scarf, bag, hat, lipstick, etc. I even count my silver hair as an accent. LOL
Very pretty outfit Tania! I would have never thought to pair the blouse with the aqua crops. The purse adds the finishing touch with those pompoms! I bought that purse when you introduced it. So cute!
I love cotton for the summer! In this 90 degree heat and humidity here in the East, I can’t wear some of the synthetic crops, pants or tops! Way to hot. I look for cotton over linen.
As far as getting things done early; if for example I have to run out to the bank or post office, I make sure I have everything ready the night before. That way I can grab and go and not be looking for a stamp or whatever. I’ll either just have everything sitting on my desk to grab or if there are many things I have to take, I’ll pack my tote the night before. Seems I’m always crazed trying to get out of the house if I don’t keep organized. Preparing the night before saves so much stress!
Love this outfit. I tend to not buy non jeans in blue color so I have more colors to choose from over all. I realize I love color. I am not a neutral girl.
I am a planner though. So when you asked about ideas, I can share what works for me. But sense God makes us all different/unique just keep trying things tell you find what works for you.
I like to make a list and check things off. I also write in what hour of the day I am going to do things. Not only does that keep me going but at end of day I can see if it is doable or if I need to change something for next day.
I have to remember not to schedule every second and leave room for God moments. (for example, I hear of someone in need of a meal, then I add that into my day)
wishing you success on your new challenge!
That blouse is really pretty, but I don’t understand the sleeves. They are supposed to be long according to the official description, but yours look to be 3/4 length. Love the color of the pants. LOVE!
My morning routine varies from day to day but basically if I’m not on the golf course by 7 I’ll be walking my 4-5 miles or attending an exercise class. Our high here will be 109 so I’m headed to pool aerobics which is so much fun. I bought my own water weights so I could workout on my own at our small local pool. Love the top. My local Talbots just opened this week & I’m headed up there this afternoon.
You look great. Love the top. I can’t believe you are 60!! I like the pants too. Those are the kind of pants I wear to work. I would love to have cotton because I do seem to have some allergies to certain fabrics.
So pretty! Perfect for a summer evening get-together (if we have those sometime this summer.)
I am a morning person, and I don’t want to work outside in the hot sun (even in New England), so I try to get outside early. Then I come inside to do yoga, and then onto the computer to work for the rest of the day. I am still healing from a piriformis injury so I am not supposed to walk a lot, which is my go-to exercise. I do get steps in by mowing, lawn and garden work.
I love your outfits, even though I am only wearing work out clothes and yard work clothes. Someday maybe I will have a chance to wear some of my other clothes haha! Have a wonderful day!
Love this outfit!! I have always been a huge coral lover and really like this blouse. The crop pants are a nice color and I like the buttons at the bottom of them. I remember this purse from when you featured the tank and skirt from Walmart. It is a great deal and so versatile. Since I have to start work early, I get all my outside “sweaty” chores done in the evening when it starts cooling off. My husband and I also do our walk at that time.
I love the floral top. Since you are wearing it w aqua pants, I was wondering if the top has aqua in it. It definitely looks like green in your pics and on the website.
you look so great! wondering about the sleeves on the top, the bottom edge looks really big, how does it feel?
