This week is flying by quickly. I can’t believe that today is already Thursday and we are almost a third of the way through this month. One of the things that I have been trying to incorporate in my day is to get my outside chores done early in the morning. The temperature has been soaring into the 90s lately, so if I don’t get everything done before 10:00 am, then I am a sweaty mess when I head outside.

I have also tried to start walking in the mornings. I know that I need to start out slowly and build up to more mileage, so I am only walking a mile every morning. It is quite and peaceful on my walk, and I sometimes listen to podcasts, sermons, self-care books, etc. I have found that listening to something makes the time go by more quickly. After I get back to the house, then I will water the outside flowers, clean the filters in the pool, and any other chore that needs to be done before heading inside. I have found that being productive early in the morning makes me feel better. So, I am now going to start trying to have the next day’s blog post finished before noon, instead of by 10:00 pm. What kind of tips or tricks do you gurls have for getting things done early so that you have the rest of the day free?

You have heard me talk about my love of wearing linen in the summer months because of the heat, but today, I am going to tell you about the fabric that is great for wearing all year. I love wearing 100% cotton clothing. Cotton is a natural fabric and it is breathable. It actually protects you in the summer and winter, since it traps air between the fabric fibers. So, cotton keeps you cool in the summer, and warm in the winter. Cotton is also a strong fabric, soft,  and it is usually not a fabric that will cause an allergic reaction in people. No, I am not being sponsored by the cotton association, I just thought that you might like to know the “why” behind the cotton choice.

I was shocked when I received this floral top because the color was different than in the photo. I don’t know if mine was the only one that was different, or if the photo on the website just had strange lighting. I love the top that I received much better than the color on the website, so I was pleasantly surprised! The beautiful floral print is vibrant, but it is not bright. I love the v-neckline and the flowy bishop sleeves since both are flattering. I am wearing a medium in this top, and you can see that it is roomy and fits me perfectly.

The Veronica crystal-studded hoop earrings from Kendra Scott are a perfect size. I want my earrings to be seen, but not overwhelming. I added the Fallyn cuff link bracelet along with a neutral beaded bracelet from Chicos. I am loving simple jewelry this year, and am wearing more neutrals, and plain gold or silver.

This Eliza May Rose tote is super cute. The removable paper pompoms add color and whimsy to the tote. I love how the colors of the pompoms brought out the colors of the shirt. This is made from 100% paper, so it is lightweight even though it is a nice sized handbag. This is fabulous for summer, especially at the price.

The button hemmed crop pants in aqua make a statement. The aqua is such a fabulous summer color, and the pants are also available in a lot more colors. So, you are bound to find the color that suits you best. These pants are 98% cotton and 2% spandex, so they will be cool and have a small amount of stretch to them. I am wearing a size 8 in these pants because I have found that I need to size down when wearing Talbots pants. I think that these fit me perfectly, and I love the straight leg style.

Today, I am starting a transformation Thursday. I’ll start with me, but each week, I’ll share someone else’s transformation. You might have seen this photo before. It is a photo of me in my 30’s, and one this year when I turned 60. A lot has transformed in my life. Of course, it is easy to see that my hair color and hairstyle has changed over the years, but what isn’t easy to see is the change in my confidence level. In my 30s, I was even shyer than now, and had doubts in my ability to be a good mother, wife, friend, and even in my ability to be a good worker at my job. My point is, no matter where you are in life now, that doesn’t mean that is where you have to stay. It is up to you to try and change, and self-improvement books can help. Of course, I also think that the way you dress and present yourself has a huge effect on your mindset also. So, use my examples for fashion and dress in a way that you feel confident. Apply some makeup to help you feel pretty. And, if you are interested in the skincare that I use, then go here and take the solutions tool to see what you should use.

  1. I just found you and can relate to you so much. I keep thinking I should walk but never do. You are an inspiration. I will be 60 next week and have been trying to dress comfortably classy not frumpy. You have nailed it. Keep up the good work.

I love the 80’s pic! I look back to the 90’s, when I was a new mom. No confidence, horrible clothes… mom jeans, and mom hair! I wish I knew then, what I know now. Maybe some of us are just late bloomers?
    Thanks for sharing!

Hi, Over the past couple of years, I have become a huge fan of linen and now try to collect pieces that are special. My Mom is looking down at me now, cracking up. She adored anything linen. I used to tease her about wearing the same type things all the time. Now I do the same. Yes Mom, you were right!
Thank you so much for what you share. It is lovely!

  4. You look cute in everything. I love the pants… I just ordered the navy ones.
