WHAT DO YOU DREAM ABOUT

Did you know that I used to buy/collect Longaberger baskets? I loved those handcrafted baskets so much that I actually became a distributor/seller for them, but only so that I could buy them for myself at cost. I had every basket in the catalogs, and I would even purchase old and discontinued baskets on eBay.

My house is filled with baskets. They are in drawers, on top of cabinets, on my desk, my clothes hamper, my trash can; they hold blankets, spoons, washcloths, toiletries, toilet paper, spices, clothing, etc. You name it, I’ve probably got a basket for that. Joe tells me that I have an obsessive personality and that I go “all in” when I find something that I like. I can’t argue with him about that because it is probably true.

I read one time that the shoe brand ADIDAS stood for “All day I dream about sports.” I later heard that wasn’t true, but it still made me create my own ADIDAB logo that stood for “all day I dream about baskets.” Yes, I know, it was pitiful.

There are times when I still have an ADIDAB kind of day. Now, it is dreaming about the blog instead of about baskets. Those are the days when I am overwhelmed with work or I need to take more photos because the last bunch was terrible. There are so many problems with hosting, emails, linking, etc., and it sometimes feels like I constantly putting out fires. Looking back, I realize that I am always trying to fix issues that I can’t control.

Why was I so busy trying to fix everything? Do I know anything about hosting? Am I an IT person who knows how to fix those types of problems? The answer is capital NO!

Jeremiah 33:3

‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

Don’t you just love the Bible? If you consult the “word” of God, then you might find the answer to your problem. Here is the solution to most of my issues. You can’t get much plainer than that. Why isn’t my first response to call upon the creator of all things? Why don’t I ask Him to guide me through my issues? And, to make sure that I now realize how foolish I have been, I stumbled upon this verse.

Proverbs 28:26

26 Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.

I think that my new acronym needs to be ADIDAG, which stands for “All day I dream about God.” God is obsessed with me, and He thinks about me all day long. He watches over me from the moment that I wake up until I lie down at night. The Lord gave His only Son for me, and He would do anything for me. God has my back! God’s logo might be ADIDAY, or “All day I dream about YOU.” It applies to each of us; just fill in YOUR name.

Lord, forgive me for being obsessive about the wrong things. Please guide me, open my heart and eyes, and let me become more obsessed with You and Your Word!

To GOD Goes The Glory!

Have A Blessed Day!

    Have a blessed week!!

  2. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the “things” we like. Good reminder.

  3. Tania;
Just what I needed to hear today! Thanks for another great Sunday post.

  4. When I got the word that I had Breast Cancer, I learned fast it was not in my control! I trusted God and he took control! Going on 8 years as a survivor! IT WAS NOT WHY ME, but WHY NOT ME! God is Good!

    1. My sister reminded me years ago that I didn’t have control of much in life. I can’t control oncoming cars, the airplane pilot, or a health diagnosis. I’m glad to hear that you are a survivor, and I know you leaned on God.

  5. I can do relate to your words today. I think I also have an obsessive personality. Once I become interested in something, be it collecting baskets (I also have many Longabergers), making bags, featherweight sewing machines(my latest obsession) or fabric; as you say I am ‘all in’! How do you stop that from happening? If you figure it out, let me know.😉

  6. Wow! Sounds like me! Thanks, I really needed that message today!

Thank you Tania for the beautiful message, so true!

This is me! Not the possessing things but the taking control of things instead of God guiding my life.

I wear a simple gold cross necklace every day, I wear it to pay tribute to our God. I love it, about as much, as I love my collection of Longaberger baskets, always wondered why they went out of business. Have a blessed day.
