WHAT DO YOU DREAM ABOUT

Did you know that I used to buy/collect Longaberger baskets? I loved those handcrafted baskets so much that I actually became a distributor/seller for them, but only so that I could buy them for myself at cost. I had every basket in the catalogs, and I would even purchase old and discontinued baskets on eBay.

My house is filled with baskets. They are in drawers, on top of cabinets, on my desk, my clothes hamper, my trash can; they hold blankets, spoons, washcloths, toiletries, toilet paper, spices, clothing, etc. You name it, I’ve probably got a basket for that. Joe tells me that I have an obsessive personality and that I go “all in” when I find something that I like. I can’t argue with him about that because it is probably true.

I read one time that the shoe brand ADIDAS stood for “All day I dream about sports.” I later heard that wasn’t true, but it still made me create my own ADIDAB logo that stood for “all day I dream about baskets.” Yes, I know, it was pitiful.

There are times when I still have an ADIDAB kind of day. Now, it is dreaming about the blog instead of about baskets. Those are the days when I am overwhelmed with work or I need to take more photos because the last bunch was terrible. There are so many problems with hosting, emails, linking, etc., and it sometimes feels like I constantly putting out fires. Looking back, I realize that I am always trying to fix issues that I can’t control.

Why was I so busy trying to fix everything? Do I know anything about hosting? Am I an IT person who knows how to fix those types of problems? The answer is capital NO!

Jeremiah 33:3

‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

Don’t you just love the Bible? If you consult the “word” of God, then you might find the answer to your problem. Here is the solution to most of my issues. You can’t get much plainer than that. Why isn’t my first response to call upon the creator of all things? Why don’t I ask Him to guide me through my issues? And, to make sure that I now realize how foolish I have been, I stumbled upon this verse.

Proverbs 28:26

26 Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.

I think that my new acronym needs to be ADIDAG, which stands for “All day I dream about God.” God is obsessed with me, and He thinks about me all day long. He watches over me from the moment that I wake up until I lie down at night. The Lord gave His only Son for me, and He would do anything for me. God has my back! God’s logo might be ADIDAY, or “All day I dream about YOU.” It applies to each of us; just fill in YOUR name.

Lord, forgive me for being obsessive about the wrong things. Please guide me, open my heart and eyes, and let me become more obsessed with You and Your Word!

To GOD Goes The Glory!

Have A Blessed Day!

    Amen! God is the answer!

  2. I used to be a Longaberger consultant as well. I had baskets everywhere. Three years ago because of my husbands health, we moved closer to one of our children. We did a major downsizing and I auctioned off almost all of my baskets as well as other antiques and sentimental items. Sometimes I wish I still had a particular item that I sold and so I have to remind myself that it’s all just “stuff” and I can’t take it with me when I die. Haha. Thank you for reminding us to not be obsessive about the wrong things. To God be the Glory! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

    1. It is stuff. We haven’t packed up much of our belongings from our other home, and since it has been three years, do I really even need it anymore?

I used to sell Longaberger as well and it was truly to get the baskets for me. I never really sold many at all. 😊
ADIDAG is truly what we need. Or FROG. Fully rely on God. Have a Blessed day and thank you for your blog.

  4. What a great reminder on this Lord’s day.

Such a nice post. While I was not obsessed with Longaberger, my sister gave me their medium casserole basket with the cutest blue and white decorative band that went around the rim. I used it constantly to take food to various events and friends. I lost that wonderful basket to the flood waters of Harvey. When my sweet husband ordered me a replacement for my birthday, the company took payment and then shuttered the business! I never got a replacement. It reminds me that material things often serve us well for a time but can be taken at any moment. What is true and eternally constant is God and his love for each one of us. Thank you Tania for all of your hard work, you have helped so many of us ladies feel more confident and look our best no matter our age!
