50 Is Not Old | GrandmotherI have 4 wonderful grandchildren! Three of them live in Tennessee, and one lives right next door. I remember the debate I had with the Tennessee gang’s other grandmother, about what we wanted to be called when the first grandchild was born. We finally decided on Nana. She would be Nana Teresa, and I would be Nana Tania. Pretty original, huh? hahaha50 Is Not Old | Grandmother

When I was a child, most grandmothers were called “granny”, or at least everyone I knew was. I had a granny Lewis and a granny Meadows, once again we were original. Lol! I never even thought anything about the name, it was just what we called them.50 Is Not Old | Grandmother

Granny is what my children called my mother, but they called Joe’s mother, maw maw. I think that was what the children in his family were used to calling their grandmothers. Nowadays, you don’t hear those terms very often. Instead, there are all kind of fancy names for grandmothers.50 Is Not Old | Grandmother

Kris Jenner (Kim Kardashian’s mother) wants to be called Lovey. That is actually a cute name, and not one that you would normally associate with being a grandmother. I know several MiMi’s, a couple of Gee’s, and lot’s of Nana’s. My sister’s daughter calls our mom, “M”. She calls her other grandmother the same thing, so to keep them separate, my mother is “M on the mountain”, and the other grandmother is “M at the beach.” Haha  It just so happens that both of the grandmother’s names start with M.50 Is Not Old | Grandmother

My youngest son tried to tease me when his little girl was born. He would call me all kind of names that he thought sounded “old.” I told him that he did not bother me at all. I didn’t care what she called me, just as long as she called. So, eventually he gave up and started calling me nana, since that was what the other grandchildren called me.50 Is Not Old | Grandmother

One day I was babysitting for the little monkey, and I was feeding her. She was sitting in the high chair at my back patio door. I stepped out the door to let Beckley (my Yorkie) back in, and she thought I was leaving. She screamed, “Nee Nee!” From that day on, I was NeeNee. Well, occasionally it is NaaNaa, when she has her southern drawl going. It is funny how they will decide what your name will be.50 Is Not Old | Grandmother

Now, let’s talk fashion. I am trying not to wear my spring outfits yet, but this vest was just staring at me this morning and begging to be worn. So I compromised and wore it with a pair of faux suede leggings. Spring is a strange time of the year, weather wise. You had better be prepared for temperature fluctuations. Here is Virginia, it can rain, sleet, snow, and the sun shine all in one day. The temperatures have been known to change 30 to 40 degrees all in a single day. So in the spring, I like to wear long sleeves, or a jacket. I am cold natured, and am always cold. If I get hot, I can always shed a layer. This long sleeve paisley vest is one that I bought a couple years age at DressBarn. I had already paid for my purchases, but spotted this as I left the store. Of course I turned around and bought the vest and the matching long sleeve t-shirt. You can wear the vest tied or let the tails hang down in front. Here and here are a couple cute vests. And here is a basic long sleeve t-shirt in ALL kinds of colors. If you can’t find a color you like there, then you are too picky. Haha  The faux suede leggings were from Cato’, but they are no longer available. They are super soft and I like the feel of them. I found myself rubbing my leg all throughout the day. Lol! Here is a pair that looks identical to mine. I wore these before, and here is how I styled them. Which way do you like best?

Now for the jewelry. Everything except my Michael Kors watch, is by Chloe & Isabel. I was first introduced to Chloe & Isabel this past fall when I won a giveaway. I won an Atlas three-row necklace, and I have worn that thing ever since. I absolutely love it! So, the other day, I decided to sign up as a stylist. I have never done this kind of thing before, so that is saying something about how I feel about this jewelry. Anyway, the necklace, the matching earrings, and the multi-wrap bracelet, I have on came in my introductory kit. Their jewelry is backed by a life-time guarantee, hypoallergenic, lead safe, and nickel-free. If you are ever interested in having an online trunk party, let me know and I can set you up. That is the easiest way to earn FREE merchandise. I like free!!!50 Is Not Old | GrandmotherThis cobalt blue tote was one that I bought at either TJ Maxx, Ross’s or Marshall’s. I forget where it came from. Hahaha I am going with the reason that I forgot, is that I have a lot of clothing, and not that my memory is bad. Here is a similar one that is REVERSIBLE.

Are you a grandmother? What are you called? Does being called “Granny” make you any older? If you are a grandmother, then what is your name?

  3. New to your blog and love it! you have great style! I have no grand children, however my sister does they call her “Glammy” because she is young and glamourous! lol I clicked on you link to when you wore the suede type legging before (with your long suede coat) from QVC! I bought one years ago was just a tan color, hung in my closet for years, just recently purged my closet, I let it go!!! Had I know how to style it “fresh” again I would have kept it!! :(.. your style is fresh!!

    1. That’s what my closet is busting at the seams. I hate getting rid of anything!

  4. My only grandson calls us Oma (oh-ma) & Opa (oh-pa) which is German. We chose those names so both grandparents would have distinct names. Turns out through DNA testing that I’m not so much German, but 35% Great Britain & 29% Irish. I should have used Mumsy! I always enjoy your posts everyday & look forward to all your fashion. I’m 63.

    1. Mummy would have been perfect!

  5. I had a Granny and a Grandma — My mother was Grandmom — I’m Nana — my husband had a Mamie and an Awmaw — my granddaughters call their other grandmothers “Gram” and “Mimi” — my husband was going to be “Big Daddy”, but that became “Poppa Daddy”

    1. I know a big daddy too, but he has no grandchildren. Haha

  6. LOVE your blog. I like the colors of the vest with the pants; just seems to “pop” color, so I prefer this outfit over the other..just me. I had 3 grandmothers..and they were Grandma, Granny, and Great-Granny Annie…lol
My two grandsons have 5 grandmothers, so talk about confusing. So they have Grandma, Gammy, GiGi, and Ba Ngoai (pronounced bough-why; she is Vietnamese). I am Nana and melt every time I hear it..but little one (2 yrs) has called me NeeNee several times so will see if that sticks.

  7. We have nine grandchildren! It makes for a busy, fun Christmas…so many giggles! They call call us Grandma Sallie and Grandpa Jim, but I always sign their cards and gifts with G&G. Saves a lot of time…ha! Love the bright, fun color of your top. I’m trying to ignore the blacks and grays in my closet and let those cute colorful items make an appearance. Keep styling and smiling.

    1. Sallie, I am gearing up for spring! I am so over black & gray, it seems like that is all I wore.
