I’m already dreading the day when I have to take down my Christmas decorations. They won’t come down until some time in January, but I’m trying to come up with something to take their place and still be as pretty. Christmas decorations make me happy and I think they make a room look beautiful. Am I alone in this thought, or are there others who dread the decorations coming down?

I think that the garland on the mantel is what I love the most, and since it is winter looking instead of Christmas looking, I think that I’ll leave that up. The garland didn’t come with lights, so I added a couple of strings of lights, and I leave them on all the time. I love the glow from the lights, so I’m starting to look for a garland for spring since I have one for fall. Is it strange to have a garland on your mantel all year long?

As much as I mention versatility, you would think that it must be my middle name. I love wearing items in different ways so that I get more wear from my clothing, and I feel like I get my money’s worth from my purchase. You’ll see these pants in several upcoming posts, and I chose these pants because I don’t think that many of you would have chosen them to be a versatile item.

For now, let’s talk about this animal-print poncho! This poncho is so cozy and comfy, it is cute as a button, and it is chic and stylish. I love how the poncho is casual and dressy at the same time depending on how you style it. With a black turtleneck and pants, the look is dressier, but with a pair of jeans and ankle boots, it would be casual. Both looks would be great, it would depend on your style. The poncho has a cowl-neck, but I still have on a black turtleneck under it because I don’t want my tummy showing when I raise my arms. I’m wearing a size 1 in the turtleneck, and the poncho is a one-size item, so there isn’t a specific size to pick.

I chose to wear the poncho so that the shorter edges are in the front and back. However, you can slip the poncho around, and wear the long ends in the front and back instead. I find that it is more flattering on me when the longer ends are at my sides, so that is how I would style it.

I’m wearing three of the four chains of my goldtone convertible necklace. Guess what this convertible necklace is??? Yes, you guessed it, it is VERSATILE! Lol! You can un-hook any of the chains and wear them separately or in any combination that you like. I didn’t like the look with the longest necklace, so I took that one off and wore the other three.

These black foiled snake-print jeggings are gorgeous and make quite a statement! I love items that can be dressed up or down, and these pants are a prime example. I can see wearing these jeggings with a denim jacket and ankle boots for a casual look. The jeggings would also look amazing for a New Year’s Eve outfit, and I might have an example of that in a later post. I’m wearing a size .5 and they fit tight, but I wouldn’t want them any bigger.

  1. I like to put up the winter decor, to take the place of all the Christmas decorations. It makes the change more fun and gradual. I have really enjoyed all your posts! Keep it up in 2022 and know many Gurls are behind you and your message!

Where are the stockings from? Exactly what I have been looking for. Love the poncho. You look great!

    1. Sandra, I bought those stockings a couple of years ago at Target. I looked this year, but they didn’t have anymore.

  3. You look beautiful! Great outfit! I’ve decided to also leave some decorations up into the winter this year. Green wood trees, bottle brush trees and white houses make for wonderful winter decor! 🙂

I am almost the big 60! Tough to say, even harder to swallow. I love clothes and enjoy following you. My favorite go-to for unique clothing is Boston Proper. Noticed BP was not on your list of shops but should be. Love their motto as well— We are not fromBoston and we are not proper! Take a peek!

  5. Stacie KREITMAN says:

  6. ABSOLUTELY adore the outfit you are wearing now , however I would have to search for animal print in a natural fiebre.

  7. Katherine says:

Tania, your fireplace mantel looks so beautiful, and so does your tree. I really like the idea of keeping the garland up afterwards with the beautiful lights. Lights add so much warmth and comfort.
Give yourself a huge hug for creating such a gorgeous Christmas look in your home.

Hi Tania – Merry Christmas! I totally agree about the decorations – I hate taking them down because it makes the house look so beautiful. I bought a slim flocked tree and I leave that one up without decorations on it after the holidays, as I just love how it looks! LOL! It made me happy when we were locked down for Covid last year. 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family. God Bless! Amy

  12. Catherine says:

RE: your mantle – I have the same problem with door wreaths. I have one for every occasion! Makes the husband nuts because they are hard to store. I love them though!

  13. I have an 11’ mantel and I change garland up every season from greenery in spring and summer to orangey greenery in fall then back to evergreen in winter. I’ve been doing this for years and everyone always comments on it. I keep lights in it all year and helps brighten and cozy up my darker family room throughout the evenings!!!!

  14. I am new to your blog and have enjoyed purchasing several of the items presented. I am 60, but the items still enhance my new retirement wardrobe. Thanks for the inspiration. Merry Christmas to you and yours

  15. Ann Steinmetz says:

You look great, but please stand in front of the tree or some other light colored area when wearing dark pants. They blend right into the fireplace.

  16. Your decorations are beautiful. While I love to see my decorations at Christmas time, after the holidays they begin to seem like clutter and like Janice, they are coming down Jan. 1 or 2.
    Merry Christmas

  17. Ginger Hiller says:

What a great outfit on you! I love wearing animal print. Like you, I always hate taking down the Christmas decorations and I don’t like the thought of the constant Christmas music going away. I say accessorize your mantel in the way that makes you happy.

  18. Anne-Marie Brunet says:

    LOVE this!!

  19. Pam Baker says:

Living in Louisiana, as soon as the Christmas comes down, Mardi Gras goes up! I still love my leopard poncho I bought from your suggestion last year! The red heels def make the outfit!

  20. You are so beautiful! I turn 50 tomorrow, so thanks for keeping me encouraged in the fashion department! Merry Christmas!

  21. The leopard poncho is adorable and the red heels are a perfect way to complete your outfit. I love decorating for Christmas and have my tree and garland lit all day, but I’m ready to take it all down by January 1st or 2nd.

  22. I change the mantle each season because I like the dressed up version at Christmas. Now my mantle has its own wardrobe!

  23. I always buy daffodils when the decorations come down. Brightens things up and makes me think spring is just around the corner! Love the poncho!

  24. I love the outfit today! I also have a hard time taking down the Christmas decorations! I leave them up into early January and then only put the real Christmas things away leaving winter things up through February! Helps the house not to look so bare. There are beautiful greenery garlands for spring and summer for your mantel.

  25. Your Christmas decorations are gorgeous!
