WHAT TO WEAR ON A VALENTINE’S DATE

My, my, my, what a weekend I had! Whew, it rained and rained and when you live beside the river that is not a good thing. My brother once described the area I live in as a crevice. That is not a bad description when you stop to think about it. There is a large mountain, a road, a river, the railroad track, and another mountain. There is very little land in between any of those things. In my case, my house sits between the river and the railroad track. You have heard the saying, “between a rock and a hard place,” well in my case it is, “between a river and a railroad track.” Lol!On Friday night I mentioned to Joe that it was supposed to rain all this week. He hopped on to the weather forecast and started freaking out. He said that it was supposed to rain 2 inches on Saturday and another inch on Sunday. That is a lot of rain when you live in a normal area but when you live in a crevice it is devastating. In 1977 we had some major flooding in this area so they decided to “flood proof” part of the town a few years ago and they installed a flood wall. Saturday night is the first time that I know of that they have actually closed the gate. Thankfully, it didn’t get as bad as they feared and I don’t think there was any major flooding. Maybe some washed out roads or bridges but for the most part, everything turned out pretty well. My mom called me about 10:00 pm on Saturday and wanted to know if we were alright. She had seen posts on Facebook where people were talking about it. Hahaha! Don’t you just love Facebook? It is better than any newspaper because you don’t have to wait for the next edition to come out. Do any of you go out for dinner on Valentine’s Day? I thought that you might like to see what I would choose to wear for a date night out. With it being Valentine’s Day I would choose to wear red at least somewhere in the outfit. I realize that everybody doesn’t look great in red so you would need to wear it somewhere other than near your face. Or, you can choose to add a cardigan or a jacket like I did with this outfit. If I am going out to eat then I always try to have a jacket or sweater somewhere handy for me. Restaurants are bad to keep the dining rooms chilly. If the room is chilly then you won’t sit around and linger and they can serve more diners that way. I am wearing a black velvet jacket by Izod. I wish I had a smaller waistline so that my bow could have been bigger. Lol! I have had several of you tell me that you can’t wear a belt around your waist like this and neither can I. My waist is the largest part on me so I am tricking the eye into thinking that I am smaller than I am. The jacket hides my sides and brings your eye inward creating a smaller waistline. If I did not have on this jacket then you would NOT see me with a tucked in shirt and a belt around my waist. NOPE, not going to happen. My pants are from Cato Fashions and they do not have the red available any longer but I did see them in black. My son pointed out to me today that my pants reminded me of the pants you see on a stilt walker. Lol! I had to agree with him once he showed me the picture.

I choose my “old lady” pumps or what I call, classic pumps to wear with this outfit. These pants are really long so my choice boiled down to the pair of shoes I had that had the highest heel. Lol! And here you thought I put a lot of thought into my outfits! Hahahaha! I also just have a white v-neck short sleeve t-shirt on from Old Navy. I try to buy a new white t-shirt every year because they are bad to turn dingy and they are relatively inexpensive. You can wear one year around since all you have to do is put on a jacket or a sweater in the winter months.
