50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE OVER 40Saturday is here, and it is time for a little R & R. I have plenty of pick up and straighten up things to do, but I feel the need to relax and rest taking over. It was not too much of a battle, I am easy. Lol! I did manage to pick up a small amount outside yesterday, but there is soooo much that needs to be done, it is overwhelming. I guess I need to start eating the elephant one bite at a time. (Old Joke)50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE OVER 40So, thanks to Deborah, I just found out yesterday that when I have been placing a link to the plunder jewelry, that I have not been getting credit if you placed an order. Those of you who emailed me with your orders, I fixed them, so I did receive the credit. However, if “you” placed an order directly through the plunder website, it has not been giving me credit. Deborah mentioned that she bought a couple pieces yesterday, but they never showed up on my website. I called customer service, and sure enough they found the order. They were able to fix the problem, but I would have no idea if anyone else ordered anything. If you placed an order, would you please email me at fiftyisnotold@gmail.com and let me know the order number if you still have it. If not, then your name and approximate date of order will work. In the future, I learned to have you go to http://www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to place an order. When you are checking out it should show my consultant number (241007), and it will ask if there is a party associated with the order. Click the arrow, and my party will show. I guess my learning curve is still curving. Haha50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE OVER 40

Now, on to today’s look, tie-dye. Tie-dye is one of this year’s big trends, but can us ladies over 40 still jump on the band wagon? Of course the answer is yes! I believe we can wear most trends, it is a matter of how. I am not trying to look like I am in my twenties, no one is going to be fooled. But, I still want to be relevant and current in my styles. I loved this dress the minute I laid my eyes on it. I was not as sure if I would be able to wear the dress, because it is a slinky material which sticks to every bulge and bump. I think the reason it works, is because the material is thick. The dress is by Grace Elements, but I can’t remember where it was purchased.

  1. I know this post is a few years old already but after reading my daily email sometimes I want just a little bit more so I click on one of your older posts to read. So here I am and I just wanted to say that I really love this look on you.

Thanks for sharing so much of yourself with us, l appreciate your courage in sharing some of your vulnerabilities, You come across as warm and real, like a best girlfriend. You have inspired me and now I enjoy getting dressed and leaving my house more than I would have thought possible. Losing about 50 lbs has helped too. I feel like I have found one of the better parts of myself again. Thank you for that.

    1. I love this comment. It is fantastic to have lost that much weight!!! Congratulations!!!

  2. I can’t figure out out how to add a pic in the comment section, burn I broke my ankle and am rocking a tie dye cast, and I am over 40!

  3. Tania, in the last week or so you have appeared to “glow” in your photo! Did you change makeup or change the lighting for your photos? Your eyes are so sparkly!

    1. No, I haven’t changed anything other than trying to use the Rodan and Fields everyday morning and night. It is actually supposed to brighten your complexion.? Thanks for noticing!!!

  4. Thank you for this post! I have the same dress purchased at Belk last summer and even though I love it, I rarely wear. I now can get a similar cardigan! Love your blog!

  5. First of all, I like ya new hairdo. Second, I am not usually a fan of tie-dye….but, you’ve pulled it off. And lastly…..how do you get your images so sharp for the web?! I gotta know.

  6. I have the same Plunder necklace. I just wanted to add something about the locket. You can add some essential oils to a small piece of felt and put it in the locket.
You look great by the way!!

  7. I agree with you that trends can/should transcend age and it’s a matter of how you apply the elements of the trend that makes it a hit or miss for your personal style. Your dress is stunning and the first thing that grabs my attention is the color combo, not the tie-dye effect and that’s what makes it so perfect for you.

  8. You always look fabulous! I want that dress!

  9. Love this dress. Just the right way for us gurls to do tie-dye! I have a blue/white tIe-dye top I bought at TJMaxx last year. It’s Jones of NY. Very versatile. I usually wear it in the summer with my white crop jeans. Never had a pair until last summer. Tania is right gurls. Just do it! I was afraid of the white but now they’re my favorite summer pants. So glad I found this blog a few months ago. It makes my day!!!

  10. You hair looks so cute! It seems longer on the the right side, are you letting it grow out, or just the other side tucked makes it look longer? Either way it is cute! Love to see you fashion each day.

    1. It is cut shorter on one side, it is an asymmetrical cut.

  11. I always look forward to your blog! You look beautiful in these colors!

  12. Donna Huberty says:

I love your hair color! ! What color highlights does your stylist use. I love the red. Your cut is very chic on you!!

  13. That dress is simply fabulous. I have two type dye t shirts and I feel young at heart when I wear them. I dressed like a wannabe hippie “back in 69”.

  14. You look just beautiful today. Love your dress!

  15. Your close up on jewelry is perfect. So glad I found your blog. I look forward to seeing you everyday! Thanks!

  16. Yes, I have a question that is Important to me…….I try my Best to Dress Nicely…..My goal is to be Neat, Clean & be as stylish as I can be, but not over the top……I like sporty during the week & of course when I go somewhere nice or to Church, I dress Dressed Up, if that makes any sense……Anyways, what I am trying to say is …..My Husband is a Hard Working Man in the Construction& Remodeling Business……A lot of His work is very dirty work….YUK!! Even though I appreciate ALL He does, He does not keep His appearance as Clean & Neat as I would like for Him to….If we go out to eat & He is just getting off of work, He will wear whatever He has on……On Special occasions, He will wear a nice Shirt & Pants…..What I am trying to ask is…….His style is just not my style……YES, I have asked Him to dress better at times, but He does not see this……Am I wrong with wanting to stay Stylish & Dress what I feel is Appropriate when we go out, even if He does not?? I am not ashamed of Him, as I know He works very hard for Me & Our Family……Is it wrong for Me to look Nice, even when He maybe looks very disheaveled?? Hope All this makes sense……Please help me to know if I am doing right in wanting to look Nice……Thank You for ALL You do for Me/Us…..God Bless You!! Deb

    1. Kathy Terry says:

I dress to be true to me, which my husband appreciates, and don’t let others dictate how I dress. Who knows, maybe your style aesthetic will start to rub off on him!

      1. Thank You Kathy,,,,,

    2. Deb, I understand. My father has been in the construction business all my life, and now I work in a lumber company surrounded by hard working men. Their idea of dressed up and ours might not always be the same. My husband has always had a more preppy style. When I met him, he wore either a white or blue oxford button-up shirt, khaki pants, and weejun shoes. He stills wears khakis almost everyday, but he does not particularly want his pants ironed, so they are rumpled most of the time. He wears his hair very short and shaves daily. “I” have been the one who did not dress to “his” style. He would have preferred the preppy gal, and that is just not me. A compromise of sorts has evolved over the years. I don’t usually go too outrageous, and I do occasionally throw in a preppier style just for him. On the other hand, I LOVE seeing him in work boots, and my heart will do a small flutter at the taste of beer on his breath. LOL! So, with all that said, I am not an expert in this field, but I suggest to look for some common ground. Maybe looking at a shirt style that will please both of you. And just remember that he is just like Popeye, “I yam what I yam.” Look for the positives, I bet there are plenty of them. And keep dressing nice, I bet he notices?

      1. Thank You so very much for answering Me….I truly got what You said & it helps me a lot…….He does tell Me I look nice……I appreciated the I yam what I yam like Popeye says……..& YES that is Him……Thank You again for Your Site & I so look forward to it every day……Thank You Again……Deb

  17. I would like something tie-dye but haven’t found anything age appropriate, I’ve even been crazy enough to consider doing my own! Your dress is gorgeous and the perfect length. At 5′ 7″ I’ve found that maxi dresses either finish at the top of my ankles or drag on the floor.
