HOW TO WEAR AN OVERSIZED SWEATER
TODAY is the day!!! My sister’s newest novel, Hope In The Holler, is available today. You can not imagine how proud I am of her. Most people “dream” but very few actually have the fortitude to “try.” My sister told me that she had always wanted to be a writer. She attended classes and was part of a writer’s group. But, that was not going to make her a writer. Finally, she decided that she would rather try and fail then to never try at all. She said that she didn’t want to live with the “what if” hanging over her head.
Do you remember having a dream as a child? I am not talking about the kind of dream where you marry Donnie Osmond or David Cassidy. Instead, I am talking about the dream where you became something or made something. Did you try to make the dream happen or did you say that it was impossible and settle for less? I can’t really say that I had a dream to do anything specific. I just remember wanting to become a wife and a mother. But, at the same time, I thought that I was supposed to “be” something. I always “felt” like I could do anything. I think that is because my parents instilled in all of their children that we were special and that we could be anything that we wanted. I don’t remember “blogger” ever being on my radar so if you are still searching for your dream, it is never too late. Just try!
That is my dose of morning inspiration. Lol! I swear that I am not a Pollyanna type personality, you gurls just bring it out in me. Haha! Let me start off by telling you that you are NOT going to be able to find this sweater anywhere online! I am sorry for those who like for me to wear things that I can link to, this one will have to be a similar post. You know that I keep a lot of my clothing items and wear them for years but you might not know that this sweater is the oldest item in my closet. This sweater has a special meaning to me and if you have been following my blog since the beginning then you might remember me wearing it here. I bought this sweater when I was still dating Joe and we have been married for over 31 years!!! I love the slouchy oversized look and the color block design. Funny how both of these are still in style today. Lol!
I decided to wear the Elliot earrings today for a couple of reasons. One, they are studs and I don’t have to worry about them hitting the cowl neck of the sweater. Second, they are set in antique gold so the darker color matched the BELIEVE necklace nicely. Go here to see other items by the same manufacturer of the BELIEVE necklace. Believe was my word for 2017 and this year’s word in 2018 is EMBRACE. I found a necklace that has the word Embrace but I am not a fan of the necklace. I would like something a little cuter. What do you think? The longer necklace with the leather and gold disks is the Rhiannon. Plunder just announced today the Valentine jewelry. That will be listed under the Specials tab. Be sure to check it out fast because red jewelry does not last long.
The light beige suede Dooney & Bourke handbag is one that I really like. But, it is hard to keep clean. This one doesn’t have the “feet” on the bottom of the purse and you can see that the edges are getting dirty. I have never heard of a way to clean suede that I thought would work and not stain the suede. Anyone???
Black is very hard to photograph so that you can see any detail. So, you will just have to take my word for it that these are a pair of black velvet leggings. Velvet is a huge trend this year and you can find it everywhere. I am not sure if these are really velvet or if they are velour but they look alike. I bought these really early in the season at Old Navy.
It was a crazy busy day today with my R+F business. I was busy answering emails throughout the day. I love days when I am busy. When I was taking off my shoes Monday night I was appalled at the condition of my feet. I have told you several times that I have the Sahara desert for skin and the winter has really taken a toll on it. Then, I looked at my hands and they were moist and hydrated. The difference is that I used Active Hydration Serum on my hands. Every morning and night when I apply the serum to my face I also put one drop on my hands and rub it in. Here are the pictures:

You are so right that we should try even if we fail. I always wanted to be a dental hygienist but didnt think i could do it. So, on my 50th bday i decided to try.
I have been a hygienist for 7 years now and went on 2 dental missions trips. Run after your dreams.
I give God ALL the Glory!
When I first saw your sweater I immediately zoomed in to take a closer look. I love that “heathered” look. After I picked my jaw up off the floor a few sentences later I had to zoom in again, lol. This amazing sweater has stood the test of time! Love this look.
I asked to join the group for The Magic which starts today, but have not heard back other than to answer the question about whether or not I could get the book, journal, & rock. I hope I haven’t missed something???
Patty, did you get added to the group page? It is not my page so I can’t see that.
Such a cute outfit! I too had the posters of the heart throbs – Cassidy, Sherman etc. I have been running my humidifier that is a large unit for the past month in my bedroom which I keep closed off. That really helps my skin. Thanks for the ideas as usual! Julie
I need a humidifier in my bedroom because my sinuses have been killing me this year.
Wow! I love this look even more than yesterday’s. I love the oversized sweater/leggings, its one of my favorite outfits. Congratulations to your sister. Dreams are just that, dreams, until you act on them. I know you are so proud of her!
I am very proud, Sherie! It is a HUGE accomplishment!!!
I kept the outfit I met my husband in for years!!! I got rid of it because it made me a little depressed eventually when I realized I was no longer a size 4. Love the sweater…things with history in our closet can really bring us joy in dressing. Congrats to your sister…both of you have talent!!!! Live the blog! Best Kathy
I hade a navy and white dress that was like that, Kathy. It fit like a glove and was a size 4. I kept it for years because I LOVED that dress but finally, I gave up the dream of ever wearing it again. The oversized sweater is easier. Lol!
I remember the sweater. It stands the test of time and looks good on you! Donny and David made me smile. I wasn’t planning on marrying them but I did think they were cute. Good reminder about caring for your hands. I have not been putting serum on them and I need to. Congratulations to your sister for fulfilling her dream!
I saw someone else put the serum on their hands and I thought it was such a smart idea. Our hands show our age even more than our face.
I really like the plunder jewellery but unfortunately they don’t ship to England ???
I was a Bobby Sherman fan and dreamed of him…lol!! I had a big crush on the dark haired firefighter in the show “Emergency” too..talk about showing my age!! Ha!
Love your outfit and how you are styling the oversized sweater. I also am a big fan of the Elliot earrings..and your necklaces! Why not make an Atlas with your word Embrace on it?
He was a cutie too, Laurie. Lol! I thought about the Atlas but I don’t think I want something that large. I might still check into it though.
It’s so funny that you mentioned Donny Osmond and David Cassidy as “dream husbands”!!! As a little girl I had a picture of Donny Osmond on my nightstand, and I was positive that I was going to be Mrs. Keith Partridge….I’d better be careful, my age is showing…LOL! Anyway, love the blog, and kudos to your sister!
Julia, I had posters plastered all over my room. Lol!
