50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50If you know me at all then you know that I don’t believe in coincidences. I don’t think that things happen randomly. I think that there is always a reason that something is placed in your life. I especially feel like that when it comes to people I meet. I find myself wondering all the time why someone has entered my life or why someone has been removed from my life. There are so many of you readers that I now feel a connection with and I can’t help but believe it is for the betterment of myself as well as it is for you. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50I have so many new ladies in my life that encourage me, challenge me, support me, and make me want to be a better person. It is hard to believe that people you might not have ever met have such an impact on your life. None of this is a coincidence, every one of you is here, reading this blog, for a reason. And here you just thought you stumbled upon my blog because you were looking for a change in your fashion. You didn’t know that you were instead here to be a blessing to me. ?50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50I know some of you are not wild about anything distressed but I absolutely love this sweatshirt. This makes wearing a sweatshirt super fashionable. At this time wearing a sweatshirt with paint splatters and stains is not fashionable but just wait until next year because that could always change. Lol! When I bought this top they had two colors, this dark olive green (I know it looks brown) and a mustard colored one. I debated and debated and then finally I bought this one. And the other one too. Lol!!! This came from my local boutique and if you are interested you will need to call or text her because her website does not get updated. Here is the information:

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50 I couldn’t adjust the color where it would show the true color of the shirt. It is really the olive green color like it looks in this photo.  50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50 Here is your first look at some of the new fall jewelry. This was some of the items that came in my fall stylist kit that I ordered but I recently placed an order for more items. I love dangling carrots (jewelry carrots) in front of your nose. Lol! This necklace is called the Dallas. It is versatile in the fact that it can be worn long or short plus there are so many different colors that it will go with almost anything. The Fiona bracelet is not something you normally would wear but I admit that it is growing on me. I do like all the colors and all the different textures. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50 The Farlan earrings have a 2.5″ drop and look how cute these are. These earrings are fun! They remind me of I Dream of Jennie, don’t ask me why. The new leather bracelet is this month’s Plunder Posse 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50 Even if you don’t love leggings you have to love these leggings. The colors are so “fall” and I will get lots of wear out of them. I know for sure that the sweatshirt in mustard that I bought will also match these. I have a long maroon cardigan that I know will look fabulous with these leggings.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50Neutrals have their place in your fall wardrobe. I bought these the other day at the outlet store, they are by Marc Fisher. The suede ankle boots have fringe details and a 3.5″ heel. I normally wear a size 9 but these are an 8.5 and they are okay.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR THE DISTRESSED LOOK OVER 50I love getting messages like this. This came in an email last night:

“Today a lady at the front table called me over at the break. She asked me what kind of makeup I use on my face because it was glowing and looked great. I wear no makeup… no foundation or blush. No one has ever asked me what makeup I use or what mascara I use. Never! It is obviously the products.”

  1. I absolutely love your style!!! I’m at the point that I find myself stuck with wanting to do a total makeover at 65 and love these looks so much because it is so my kind of style. I still a very wife with grown children and 7 grandchildren along with still being a busy career woman. Thank you so much for your blog and your helpful tips!

Your style is stunning and so simple. You must have a closet the size of a house. Keep on sharing.

Love this outfit!! I pretty much live anything you put together…I’m not so good at it. I also wonder why people come into my life and look for the reason.

I don’t know…. first, I think you look very pretty in this outfit. There is nothing wrong with it at all, everything is perfect! But, for me, that;s the issue, it’s too perfect. It looks to “planned” and the distressed sweatshirt even looks pressed! Please don’t misunderstand – I hesitated to write this because I don’t want to be critical… just my observation. I am 64 – still a hippie. The issue is- and what I was hoping to glean from this blog – is that the crazy patterns and combos I wore as a 20 year old would make me look like a dated old women still trying to look cool ( one reason I dislike CHICO’s). I still like to dress fun and creative. As I said, this outfit is cute, each piece fab, but I wouldn’t wear all together. Necklace and the bracelet on your left hand. with maybe a simple bead or silver one on the right, that’s it! We wore lots of cool jewelry, but not all big explosive or chunky pieces. Back in the 60’s, we couldn’t afford much so lots of vintage antique store stuff for that one fabulous piece or an Indian turquoise ot East Indian brass piece. The rest we made — leathers and silver , never gold! The leggins are cute. But the sweatshirt — well if your gonna do distressed, you distress., not buy a ready made…. or maybe I just don’t like solid brown much lol. How about the outfit as is but with a slouchy hobo bag? More authentic and organic? The shoes are cute but a simple leather thin strap sandal with this outfit would be my choice – show more skin with all that going on on the legs! I think those shoes would look fabulous with old comfy boot cut or skinny jeans, a cool print top and fabulous natural stone earrings., simple small necklace if you have to, and a larger – ONE – silver or silver and semi precious stone cuff bracelet. Any additional bracelets, sliver bangles or simple beads – as in little glass love beads 🙂 Just sayin’, hope you don’t mind <3
