50 IS NOT OLD | VELVET IS A FALL TRENDWoohoo! I made it to Tennessee all in one piece. Lol! Joe flew me in his plane and it was a little bumpy. The day was gorgeous and I never even thought about it being windy. There was a slight breeze as we loaded the truck so I asked Joe about it. He assured me that it would be alright. When we got to the top of the mountain where the airport is located, the wind had picked up even more. 50 IS NOT OLD | VELVET IS A FALL TRENDWhen you live in the mountains you better get used to turbulence. When the wind travels across the land and it hits the mountain, it creates an updraft. I don’t mind a small amount of turbulence but this was bad enough that I had to grab the “Oh Crap” bar. After we got over a mountain ridge the weather settled down and it was smooth as silk for the rest of the trip. My mom met us at the airport and we unloaded the plane while Joe refueled and prepared to head back to Virginia. I gave him a kiss and watched as he took back off……………….with my purse in the back seat. No money, no credit cards, no medicine. 50 IS NOT OLD | VELVET IS A FALL TRENDI bought this gorgeous gold top when I was on my shopping excursion in Charleston. I am not sure if I got this at the Ann Taylor store or if I got it at the Loft. I loved this color and the cold shoulder style was cute because of the elastic. I think it is the cute little ruffle at the top that appeals to me. The should straps were wide enough for me to wear my normal bra with the top. I added a piece of fashion tape to the strap and my bra didn’t show.

50 IS NOT OLD | VELVET IS A FALL TRENDI got this Elsie necklace out to wear when my mom was in town. She quickly pronounced that she was not a fan of this style. I put the necklace on and came out to take my photos and she quickly proclaimed that she was now a fan. Lol! It is a matter of seeing the jewelry with clothing. They both make the other look better. The necklace is in the antique bronze color so I added the Camie earrings of the same color. You can’t see my Betty bracelet in this picture but you can in some of the other photos. It is a leather adjustable bracelet that has added details that just matches the Elsie necklace. 50 IS NOT OLD | VELVET IS A FALL TRENDI bought the top with every intention of wearing them with these pants. These are the Natalie velvet jeans are by Kut from the Kloth. I ordered them a while ago but I am just now getting around to wearing them. I love dark brown in the fall and I have noticed that velvet is a big trend this year. I am seeing it in all the stores, in pants and top also.

50 IS NOT OLD | VELVET IS A FALL TRENDI knew these Leopard ankle boots would look great with these pants. This leopard print has deep brown and beige as the colors. I have other leopard print items that are more toward the yellow/gold color. I guess it is all dependant on the designer. These are called the Bridget Mod Booties and are from Target. The boots are really cute and very trendy right now. The heel is a chunky or block style and it is even covered in the print. 50 IS NOT OLD | VELVET IS A FALL TRENDI am thrilled with all of the descriptions you gurls have left for me. I told my mother that you could tell these answers didn’t come from family members because I didn’t see one grouchy, hateful, pushy, bossy, forgetful, mean, or aggravating comment. Lol! I guess we all have multiple sides to our personalities. Unfortunately, it is probably those closest to us that experience us at our worst. Is the necklace heavy? I have neck issues and need to be careful with the weight of necklaces. It is such a lovely piece.

    1. Donna, I know what you mean. If I am wearing a heavier necklace I will have it yanked off in an hour or so. This one is about medium. It is a nice heavy necklace but it is not anywhere near the heaviest that I have seen. I did not have any issues when I wore it that day.

I started following a couple weeks ago and have really been enjoying this. Great ideas for me and keeps me motivated and on top of trends. I love this outfit! The top is such a beautiful color, love the velvet and especially love the animal print booties!

I love these velvet jeans and the adorable top! But the jewelry really makes the outfit! And that is a too-cute necklace and bracelet! Always look forward to your stories about Life W Joe!

I’m thrilled velvet is in (it was never out for me ha)! I enjoy your blog very much. I’m thinking of trying R&F. I just haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I have almost every “broken promise” from home shopping networks. I’m a little skeptical at this point.

  6. I left a comment yesterday and could really use that bright eye complex from R & F! I think the first word people would use to describe me would be “tired”. I’m not always tired, but I sure look like it LOL! Love your blog and getting my daily inspiration from you each morning in my email. It really does “kick start” my thinking in the right direction! ?

    1. Nancy, I hear that a lot of ladies. They say their eyes just look tired. I hope this new product will be helpful for everyone. Thanks so much for following my blog. 🙂

  7. I love Ann Taylor and the Loft. That color is one of my favs this year. You inspire me to bling it up everyday. I stay home and take care of grandkids so I have a tendency to let myself go, style wise

    1. Shari, it is a real struggle for anyone who stays at home to let themselves go. If you have to put on a shirt and a pair of pants, why not make them at least look decent? It really isn’t any extra effort.

  8. I’m loving the velvet jeans and those boots! Your story of leaving your purse behind reminded me of the time I left my tote bag on a plane in Cuba, luckily it went back to Halifax and back down to Cuba on the next flight down the next day. Was sure I probably wouldn’t get it back, but I did! Lol Enjoy your visit!

  9. I like that Betty bracelet with your outfit! Aww, sorry you left your purse in the plane. Glad you’re with your family. Hope your weekend is fun, regardless of that hiccup.

  10. I would use the words perky, energetic, driven, giving and Godly to describe you! Thank you for your blog and your honest assessments on fashion and life!

Cute outfit! I joined the Adore Your Wardrobe Facebook class this fall. You would enjoy it Tania. I heard about it on Jo-Lynne Shane’s blog. Jo-Lynne had your blog featured on her Fashion Friday Linkup. That is how I found you and signed up for your email last summer. Funny how things work out in life. Now I look forward to your blog everyday and it really keeps me in the know!

I am a big fan of your blog! Please keep writing. Your clothes choices and jewellery are super! I live in Malta where we don’t get winter the way I suspect you do, but it’s always interesting to read about what you wear for the changing seasons.

Love outfit, see you are so stylish. I’m still on the fence about R&F.
