TRANSITION OUTFIT FOR SPRING THAT’S BUDGET FRIENDLY
I had a great long weekend with my parents in Tennessee. It was great visiting with my parents, son and grandchildren, and my Aunt Faye and Karen. Plus, my granddaughter spent the night with me and that is always a lot of fun. It was a jam-packed weekend that was over way too fast.
I also ate lots of junk such as chocolate chip cookies and Cheetos. UGH! I also paid for the lapse in my diet with a stomach ache and bloating. You would have sworn that I was six months pregnant if you looked at my stomach. Why do we do things to ourselves that we know are going to hurt us? After a long miserable morning, my stomach finally went back to normal, but I at least learned a lesson. It’s back to my diet today that I know is actually good for me.
Since I didn’t do my normal affordable clothing post on Monday, I’m doing it today. You can’t tell by looking at this outfit, but it is very budget-friendly. I love this outfit, and I think that it screams, SPRING! I immediately fell in love with the print and the colors of this smocked button front top, plus the style is great for a casual look.
The top is silky feeling, and I love that it swings out away from my stomach area. That feature hides any issues that I have in the belly area. There are a couple of other colors to choose from, including solids and another printed one I’m wearing a medium, and the top is the perfect size for me.
This top and coral open-front duster cardigan are one of my favorite looks this year. I’m obsessed with this coral color, and I would like to find a couple of other items in this same shade. It is such a beautiful color and will be great for spring and summer. The cardigan looks longer on me than the online model, I’m 5’6″ tall for reference. I’m wearing a medium, and I like the fit. I could have easily worn a small also since it is open front and also has a lot of stretch to it.
The released hem jeans give the look a relaxed and casual vibe. I wanted to wear my platform sneakers with this look, but they must be still in Grundy because I couldn’t find them anywhere in the house. The released hem is a form of distressed jeans, but there are no holes or tears. I thought this look might be a good option for those who aren’t fond of jeans with rips. But, once I went online to link them, they aren’t online. I’ll link to some others for you; these were Time and Tru, and they run TTS.
Since I could find my platform sneakers, I tried a couple of other shoes with this outfit, but I honestly wasn’t thrilled with either of them. Shoes are always my Achilles heel (pun intended) when it comes to fashion. I’ve never been a shoe person, and the ones that I own tend to all look alike. Lol! These white/ivory mules are old, so they are no longer online. I linked to some similar mules below.
These brown suede loafers looked too dark and too much like winter for this outfit, so they are a miss also. They are no longer in stock either, but here are some loafers that I think would look great for spring and summer.

How tall are you? I really enjoy your posts! Dressing and what’s in style for an “after 50” has been helpful to me. I’m a 5’2” 53 year old! Sometimes I have foot pain so the pretty shoes don’t always work for me, thought I still try sometimes. I was just now trying to figure out what to wear on a more casual walk/hike. Somehow I feel funny going out in tight gym pants when I’m not working out! I need more long shirts to work with them cuz I don’t like showing the tightness on the upper thigh! Some of my capri’s don’t look right with tennis shoes. Thanks!
I ordered this blouse earlier this week. It arrived yesterday and I have to say this is a really nice, flattering top. You wouldn’t know that from the Walmart model when you order it. Looked so boxy. Isn’t at all though. Mine is roomy enough that I can tie it in the front or front tuck it. I got a medium and am 5’2 about 140. Great buy!
I’m thrilled that you liked the top. I wrote the cardigan again yesterday, and it looked great!
I love this outfit and like the mules way better than the loafers. I agree they are too heavy for the outfit. Enjoy your day!! 💓
Love this outfit, it is great for spring yet chilly! Thank you for the budget friendly items.
How does this shirt fit in the upper arms? Sometimes shirts that have no stretch are too tight in my upper arms.
The sleeves aren’t tight at all. They are silky feeling and are almost like a puff sleeve.
love your post. would love for your to share your diet. what do you eat in a typical day
Cute blouse… I love the duster on you but I’m too short for them. Hopefully spring is here to stay.
I have this top also and I love it! I went to the store yesterday and saw other prints also. It is so soft and comfortable too!
Wish I could wear those cute dusters but I’m only 5’2” and they make me look incredibly short! 😕
Cute outfit. I had to laugh when you said you weren’t a shoe person. Love the price point in this blog but the jeans don’t do it for me. I think they look like the hem was let down.
Lol! Elizabeth, the jeans are supposed to look like that. Haha! Everyone doesn’t like distressing, and that is alright!
/Tania, you so good . I’m going to order the jeans. I love the split hem! Always enjoy your posts
oh my goodness….the same thing happens to me when I eat bad. I always get mad at myself but lately I said “Cut yourself some slack….today is a new day!”
Love your blog!
I bought the blouse and cardigan! Thanks
What a fabulous outfit and look on you! I’m glad you had a great weekend with your parents and some of the family.
Tania, I just ordered this top. Love the way it looks on you and hope it looks as good on me. Thank you for all you do to help this “fashion-challenged” gurl!!
Love the outfit!!
I went to Walmart over The Weeknd and passed by the floral top and almost stopped to look at it. The colors caught my eye!
Now I may have to go back and look at top!!!😀
Tania, thank you for the Chico neckless. I received it over the weekend. Being a recipient of your Valentine’s Day give away was exciting and fun.
Yay!!! I’m so glad that the necklace arrived!!!
Love this look!!
Me too! I love the colors, and I need more of these dusters!
Cute outfit and it does look very springy…bring it on!!!!!
I’m ready for spring also!!!
