TORTOISE SHELL AND BLACK
Happy Monday everyone! While most of us complain a little that it is Monday, today I am instead choosing to be thankful. Read my post from Sunday and you will understand why. I had a reader ask me if I knew a way to hide varicose veins. She told me that she was tired of wearing pants in the summer because it gets so hot. I decided to talk about that because I am sure she is not the only one reading my blog that has an issue with their legs, arms, tummy, thighs, etc.
Did you gurls notice that my legs are pasty white? Did you notice that I have sun spots on them from laying out in the sun as a teenager with only baby oil and iodine on them? Did you know that through photoshop I could have hidden all that? I could have simply added a tan to my legs, removed all the spots, smoothed out the skin, and basically made myself “appear” perfect. Why? Why would I do that? The only true answer is vanity. Yes, I am vain in the fact that I want to look the best I can but I am not willing to quit wearing what I want so that others are not “subjected” to my imperfections. These are my legs! My tummy has stretch marks! My toes are not pretty and straight, I have more rolls than I want, and my arms jiggle. Does all that bother you? Are you going to quit following my blog because of that? Did you even notice any of this until “I” pointed it out to you? Does any of my imperfections even matter to “YOU?” My point is that people see the person instead of the parts. If I even notice someone’s varicose veins, so what? Who really cares??? I have way more important things to worry about than to bother thinking that someone should only wear pants in the summer and be miserably hot! Gurls, promise me that you will wear what you want, just for you and not for others. Pinky swear!
Okay, now that my daily dose of encouragement is over I will move on to my outfit. Lol! It is a pretty simple outfit. I have a dress on and a pair of shoes. How much easier could it get? Lol! That is one of the great things about dresses, they are an entire outfit in just one piece. I don’t normally wear a huge amount of solid black but I am loving this dress. I am not sure why it looks different but I am really liking the overall effect. I think the wide scoop neck and the high-low hem are probably the biggest reasons that I like this dress. The large scoop neck shows plenty of skin and the black is not right up against my face. The high-low hem grabs your attention and brings the eye down. Even though this is a simple dress it is still very dramatic. The dress is by H by Halston and it is 95% rayon and 5% spandex. This dress feels extremely luxurious on and best of all, it is machine washable. I am wearing a sixe medium but I also got the yellow version and it is a small. I am linking a plus size version, a petite version, and a summer version below.
When I first went outside to take my pictures, I was carrying this Dooney & Bourke purse. I thought the brown would look fine with the tortoise shell jewelry. However, when I took a couple shots and went back to check the focus I wasn’t loving the look. The brown just “popped” off the page and stole the show. I decided not to carry that after all even though it technically matched. I already had a black R+F tote that I carry every day for mail, appointment calendar, and samples, so I just threw my wallet in that and headed to work.
Do you know what my number one referrer page is? It is Pinterest! I truly appreciate every time you “pin” a picture. Heck, pin ALL the pictures if you want. Lol! Also, if you would like to share my posts on Facebook or Twitter, I would appreciate that. It helps get my blog out to more people, and I am sure you just want to spread the entertaining sayings I have. Lol! The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.

I’ve just learned that nobody else notices the imperfections that seem so huge to me! When I’m showing them, I giggle all day. Three years ago, I lost 90 pounds. I’ve not been this size since high school (a very short period in high school). Your blog has helped me to see how to dress. It sounds silly, but when I was large I wanted to be invisible. Thank you so much for what you’ve done. I’m having a blast wearing things I’ve never considered before. (I’ve just discovered pants that aren’t black or navy 🙂
Yesterday my daughter and I went to Sephora because she needed to renew and replace some of her makeup. I kept showing her different products and telling her this is what Tania uses. At one point she asked me who Tania was and if I had a new friend. I just laughed and said, “Yes.” And then I told her about your blog. Thanks so much for keeping it real.
Loved you post yesterday!
Thank you love this blog today. Yes we all have imperfections. I am not one to follow my own advice BUT love who you are and enjoy life – it is too short not too!
I would love to get the mermaid pendant. I ordered the pearl necklace that you had on with the mermaid pendant, and it arrived today! Since my first love is flamingos, I HAD to order that pendant first. My daughter has a job being a mermaid, so my next purchase is definitely the mermaid pendant!
Things I love: jewelry, make up and cute outfits! Things I don’t really love: paying for jewelry, make up and cute outfits! #1 thing that would make me happy this week: Winning free jewelry!! 🙂
Hi Tania
Glad to know that I’m not the only one who isn’t perfect. I love your style and had you not told me about the lumps and rolls I wouldn’t have known. You hide them well. I like the Paxton necklace. I tried to find it but couldn’t is it an older piece
Tania, if we all were perfect, we wouldn’t have anything to complain about, “at least that is what I was told”!! I am such a worry wart about scars, bruises, etc. And finally I am seeing, they are there so as long as I can walk, stand, live my life, then those are just chips in the armour, and God is okay with it. I have really enjoyed the last 2 blogs a lot, you always have me thinking, I appreciate that so much!! 😉 Love the outfit, and the jewelry you look great!
I have taken almost every one of the pictures on Pinterest and saved the under my “Fashion ideas”! Thank you!!
Congrats on #1 in R & F and your first anniversary in Plunder. Way to go GURL!!
Love this outfit.
Love your blog and the fact that you keep it real. I always say, those that matter don’t mind and those that mind don’t matter. Keep on “keeping it real” gurl!
