I did something today that I have never done before. How many of you have had an appointment with the telephone, tv, or internet provider? Then you can feel my pain. Last Friday the internet provider we have decided to do a software update and it knocked out the internet in the whole county. The internet didn’t come back online until about 1:00 pm on Saturday. However, mine didn’t come back online at all and after talking to their support they determined that I needed a new router. We bought a new router, which didn’t work either. Then, we took that one back because they told me it wasn’t compatible and we bought another one. You have probably guessed that it didn’t work either. Finally, they scheduled a technician to come to the house on Thursday between the hours of 12:00 and 2:00. First off, don’t they know that some people actually work for a living? I was on the phone to Texas about a computer issue at work when I noticed it was 12:00 so I quickly told them I had to go. I got to the turnoff to my house and the technician was pulling out. I followed him and then got right beside him and blew the horn. I motioned for him to pull over and he nodded so I pulled off, but he kept going. Lol! He didn’t know that a blogger was not going to let it go that easily. I turned around and started back in pursuit but he had a big lead on my now. It took me about a mile to catch back up with him and I went through the motions again. This time he understood and pulled off. I asked him why he didn’t turn around the first time and he said he thought I was just waving at him, that people do that all the time. WHAT!!! No buddy, I wasn’t being friendly, I just want my stinking internet fixed. BTW, it still isn’t fixed and they can’t give me a timeframe for when it will be back working. But, chasing down a stranger and pulling them over was a first for me. Lol!!!I’ll tell you about the dress later in the post but now I am going to talk about my jewelry. My crimson earrings would have been great for watching the Alabama football game the other night and even more perfect for the upcoming championship game on Monday night. Unfortunately, you don’t have time to get them delivered in time for the ballgame. I thought my Ennis bracelet was PERFECT for this dress. The colors in the dress and the bracelet are almost identical! The bracelet is a hinged cuff bracelet so it is very easy to get on and off. The necklace that I have on was a special that was available during Christmas. Be sure to always check the specials tab because they add things to it all the time. I was thrilled to see that some of you took advantage of my special that I am running this month. Purchase 75.00 from Plunder jewelry (excluding shipping and tax) and I will send you an extra piece of jewelry. Go to plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to place an order and be sure to pick a party with my name on it.I wasn’t about to show my pasty white legs to everyone. Plus, dang it has been cold here lately so I bought me a pair of navy tights to wear with my dresses. Tights might not add a lot of heat but they are better than nothing. Lol! I decided to wear my merlot colored suede ankle booties. These boots have become one of my favorites this fall. I had them last year but I never wore them but this year I just keep wearing them. Maybe that is why I hold on to my clothing so much, I never know when my tastes are going to change.
This dress is very unusual. It is soooo thick that you could wear this in the coldest climates. The neckline is actually a scarf/muff that can be slid off and then you are left with a round neckline. I was cold so I added the scarf. The high-low style is super cute but you are also left with the underside that shows. You would think that designers would put a lining in the dresses to keep this from happening. I truly love the colors of the dress, it is perfect for fall. This was a dress from Eva Trends and I wore this back in October of 2016. I loved all the comments on yesterday’s post that you made to your 12-year old self. I think a lot of them probably are still great for our 40, 50, 60, or 70-year-old selves. If you haven’t seen that post, then you need to check it out.
Here is another reminder about the giveaways that I am doing this month. The first is for new email subscribers only. Your blog has been such a blessing to me. I can’t thank you enough. Seven years ago I came out of a marriage that left me completely devastated emotionally. I hadn’t looked in the mirror for two years. I can just now talk about it. The idea of pampering myself, getting pretty new outfits (as opposed to practical clothes) just was not in my head. I see someone like you who has joy and is clearly happy and I realize you are helping me come out of that shell. I’ve been ordering things online and trying new styles and my friends/family are actually noticing. This gives me such confidence. I just received my first order from Plunder, based on one of your blogs (Abigail necklace plus other things). It is such a positive recovery experience and you are part of that. I thought you’d like to know.
Love the merlot-colored booties, btw. Thank you for sharing your life and please continue! 2018 is going to be a great year!
Carol, you have no idea how much this means to me. I am sorry that you have been suffering. I know how something so devastating can feel like you have been kicked in the gut. I am soooo happy that you are now realizing that you are worthy and that you deserve happiness. I know that clothing is just a small thing but it can do a world of good for our confidence levels. I am honored and humbled to have had a small part in your recovery. 2018 is going to be a great year!!!
Yes I agree, having to deal w/internet or tv providers is very frustrating! I CANNOT believe they haven’t fixed yours yet! DO they NOT KNOW that is your livlihood?! Cute colorful outfit tho! Hey, can you tell me how to find one of those necklaces in silver that has the clasp so I can attach the faith pendants I’ve bought on Plunder? I have 3 and nothing to wear them with because they don’t come w/a clasp!
Love the outfit! I would like to offer a little suggestion. It is frustrating when you show us gorgeous outfits we can not purchase. I appreciate you being so budget friendly. I have been looking for someone who realizes most of us live on a budget. Not trying to be negative you do a great job, but if I can not purchase the items it is disappointing. the only one I was able to purchase was the black sweater from Target and the Leopard pants from Old Navy. Love both items. Have a great day!
Patti, I get it. I would prefer to always have something to link to but it is just impossible. Even when I buy things in the store by the time I get them on the blog they are sometimes not even available on the website. That is one of the biggest reasons that I signed up to do the Trunk Club. When I get items from there they are available on the Nordstrom site. I don’t keep things that are too expensive so most people could be able to afford them as well.
That’s such a funny story and I have a similar one. My internet was out from December 30th until January 4th. My husband was so agitated. We were directed to the local provider’s store on December 30th to exchange our modem but when we arrived (in the freezing snow) there was a sign on the door that said they were closed until the 2nd. Then, we were advised to purchase a modem — so we did and $150 later we attempted to install and activate — wouldn’t work. Although I didn’t chase down any actual people associated with our internet provider, I DID chase down a few folks on the phone. I was more assertive than I’d ever been with these poor folks manning the phones over the holiday weekend. Isn’t it crazy how an internet outage effects our lives???? Good luck on getting yours back SOON!!!!
So the cable guy says people “wave” at him all the time? What if all those “wavers” are also really trying to chase him down, but they’re just not sticking with it like you did????!!!!!!
If you were wearing this look and I was the technician, i definitely would not have pulled out, sexy llok

Terrie, I can’t imagine what we would do without internet! I am working off of a hotspot on my phone and I am thankful that I am able to do that.

I thought that was a little odd too, Sandra.
