50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE POPOVER MAXI DRESS | FASHION OVER 40Wow! Who knew that quitting work was going to be just as hard as actually working? One day was spent on cleaning out desk drawers and I still have a ton more stuff to gather up. Today was spent on teaching my replacement how to reconcile the bank account the way that we do it. It is not like your normal checkbook and it has to be reconciled in two different ways. There are times that this can be a real pain but thankfully, today it went fairly smoothly. I almost chuckled to myself because I am sure that she was thinking, “that wasn’t that hard.” Next month she is liable to be in for a rude awakening and I am liable to be getting a phone call. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE POPOVER MAXI DRESS | FASHION OVER 40 After that was finished, we then started on the payroll taxes. She is trying to take good notes but the problem is that these are only done once every three months. It is almost impossible to remember, even with notes, what you did three months earlier. We got most of them done today and we just have to write the check, phone in one of the payments, and then do one more small report. That shouldn’t take long at all so I will probably be back to cleaning out drawers again tomorrow. She looked at me today and said, “this has to be hard on you, just sitting here and watching someone else do the work.” It is like teaching your child to make the bed for the first time. You know that it would be so much faster and easier if you just did it yourself but they have to struggle and do it over and over so that they learn. Ugh! I may not last the entire week. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE POPOVER MAXI DRESS | FASHION OVER 40 I love the color blue! It is great for blondes or wannabe blondes, and it looks fabulous with my eye coloration. This is a tie-dye maxi dress by Felicity & Coco that I got in my last Trunk Club shipment. I admit that I am partial to maxi dresses, especially in the summer months. They are so easy to wear and you don’t have to worry about shaving your legs. Lol! I could just probably stop right there because what else is there to even think about? Lol! My hubby disagrees with me, however, and he much prefers a shorter style dress. Maybe that is just his way of getting me to shave my legs. Apparently, leg stubble is not something he likes in the middle of the night. I like the style of this dress with its spaghetti straps and side leg split. This is a hand wash and lay flat to dry. 50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE POPOVER MAXI DRESS | FASHION OVER 40I love wearing gold with blue but today I decided to wear silver. I wore the Janalee necklace yesterday (see here) also but it is so cute! The marbled stones are a teardrop shape and the chain is a heavier box link style. My huge statement silver leather earrings are called the Nika. These are very lightweight and have a 3″ drop. The large marble bracelet is one that was in a Plunder Posse from an earlier month but the Becca bracelet is the same thing except the Becca has silver colorations and a silver tag. The 2 strand delicate silver bracelet is called the Maggie. Both of these bracelets are on an elastic strand so they are super easy to put on and take off. If you are interested in ordering any of the Plunder jewelry then you can go to plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and when you click the shop button just pick a party with my name in it. 50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE POPOVER MAXI DRESS | FASHION OVER 40I bet that this is not a photo that you were expecting to see. Hahaha! They call this a popover dress and I assume it is because of this extra flap of material. It gives the impression of a crop top and a skirt but this way there is no skin or belly showing. That goodness, nobody wanted to see that! Lol! I ended up wearing my silver sandals with the dress because they looked Grecian to me. Is that just me or do you understand what I am talking about?

50 IS NOT OLD | TIE-DYE POPOVER MAXI DRESS | FASHION OVER 40July is a very big month for me in the Rodan + Fields area. I am wanting to attend a first time ever offered training at the convention but there are some hoops that you have to jump through in order to qualify for it. Some of those hoops are things that I can’t control which drives me bonkers, and some of them are things that I can at least help control. That means that I am going to try and offer a SPECIAL this week for PCs. Order any regimen/lash boost combo (which is priced at 20% off) as a Preferred Customer and you will receive an additional 10% off as a PC plus free shipping. AND, this week only, you will receive a FREE multi-function eye cream from me as a thank you for helping me reach my goal. My website is listed below.

  1. Oh girl… I an completely relate!! When I quit my job a few years ago, the week or two before I left were the busiest of 13 years! And if you’re like me, the day you leave for real (or the day after) you are going to have a slightly panicky moment of “what did I just do???” It’s great though! I have so much time for my Etsy shop and spoiling my grand baby now!

    1. I am already having that “what did I just do” thoughts. Lol! Joe says that I will be back in a couple of months.

  2. Melesa Garrison says:

Congratulations on your retirement! I’m sure you have been busy with training and cleaning, but yet here you are doing another one of your jobs. I sure hope you continue to come see us everyday, in blog land. Lol
    Blue is definitely your color!

    1. The blog is high on my priority list!!! I hope to be able to comment more and spend more time with my readers.

  3. Caryn Shanahan says:

Beautiful dress! What brand of strapless bra do you recommend?

  4. Sandy Stiltner says:

Love the dress, change is very different but sometimes it is time to move on! No it is not easy, I have found it takes at least a year to get over it. But all in all retirement is a good think! One door shuts but another thing will open? Good for you!v

  5. Love this maxi dress. They are one of my go to looks for summer. It looks very nice on you. This one getting pinned.

  6. Susan Stancliff says:

Oh Tania I am so envious of you! I would love to be able to retire! I know you will very very busy. I love the dress and shoes. Enjoy your week!

  7. So perfect! I hope you can let us know what you wear undergarment-wise for spaghetti straps/off the shoulder looks. Congrats on your new journey, Tania!

  8. Very flattering Tania

  9. Carolyn A. says:

Love, love the dress! I have a similar color maxi. I originally tried it on because I thought it was a maxi skirt with a wide waist band and to my surprise it was a bandau maxi dress! I bought it anyway along with a sheer white top. Thank you for the inspiration!!!

  10. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! That’s awesome! I love the freedom of being retired… It’s been a year and a half for me now, not one regret ! I love a maxi dress, like you said, so easy to throw on and not worry about the legs! Lol….. I love the print and color of your dress, I’m just not fond of this type of style, for me they always make me look bigger than I am…I think it’s the flappy thing…lol. I love those silver sandals and agree they give off the Grecian look, which I think goes well with a maxi.

    1. Kathy, I am hoping that I will be able to settle into a new routine. I have been warned by several people that it takes time. I agree that the flappy thing does add bulk to those who are like me and are a tad bit on the large size. For the little, thinner people though it looks great.

  11. Love the maxi dress on you. I too think a maxi is easy to wear, in fact, I styled one on the blog yesterday! The blue is a perfect color choice too. You might have to take that on your next R+F Caribbean trip!! (wink)!

    1. I am hoping for that next R+F trip, Susanne. Maybe you will come along with me!

  12. Letting go is not easy nor will be returning and finding out your ways are no longer carried out and things are then done differently. Changes will happen eventually. Enjoy your new found freedom I feel sure you will be busy with lots to do.

    1. I know that you have to walk through the doors of opportunity when they are opened to you. Faith is essential and squashing negativity is my goal.
