Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a pale linen v neck top, an aqua colored cardigan, and a colorful skort

In the grand scheme of things, I realize that this is not a HUGE thing, but I am still bummed. Usually, this entire week is a week of celebration at my house. Yes, it is the week of the 4th of July, but that is not the big reason that this week is special. It is Emersyn’s birthday week, and my son and his family always come and stay with me for the week.

I look forward to this trip all year since I don’t get to see my three grandchildren, or my son and DIL, but a couple of times a year. However, this year the trip will not be happening, and it makes me sad.

As far as I know, no one in our family is sick, and I am very thankful for that. But, after much debating, we finally decided that calling the trip off would be the smartest thing to do. The kids are all devastated because they don’t understand. Heck, I’m devastated, and I do understand. Joe and I also had a trip planned to go to Lousiville, and one for going to our condo in North Myrtle Beach, but we called those trips off also. In the end, I hope to have many, many more family get-togethers with my son and his family, but I would really be devastated if I was the reason that any of them got sick. Acting responsibly is not always fun. ????

This pale pink linen split neck shell is so pretty and feminine. I always feel “pretty” when I wear something in pink. Maybe it is because blondes look good in pink, or maybe it is because of the movie, “Pretty in Pink.” Lol! I normally like a more saturated pink color, but this one is so pretty, especially when paired with the skort below. If you’ve followed me for a nano-second, then you know that I love wearing linen in the summer for it’s cooling properties. I am wearing a medium in this top, but I see that they are getting limited in sizes, so I’ll also link to some other tops that I think would look great with this skirt.

I haven’t worn a skort in YEARS! But, I am ordering more of these bad boys because they are sooo comfortable and easy to wear. A skort is a combination of a skirt and a pair of shorts. It is like you took a pair of bike shorts and sewed the waist of the shorts to the waist of a skirt. It is ingenious! No more having to worry if your hiney is showing, and they are perfect for tennis or most types of exercise. I am so glad the skort is back in style since it is as comfortable as loungewear, but it looks like you are ready to go out and meet the world. I am wearing a size medium in this colorful skort, and it fits me perfectly. I am not surprised to see that the sizes of this skort are limited, but some others are equally as cute that I’ll link to them also. Also, there are more sizes in Petites and Plus, so be sure to check those out.

My linen top looked great without tucking it into the skort, but it looks dressier when tucked in and adding a cardigan. This aqua cardigan is an old one that I bought years ago at Maurices, so the exact one is no longer available. Whenever I am out shopping and find a cardigan in a color that I don’t own, I’ll buy it. I love cardigan’s, and I usually can find one in my closet that will go with almost anything.

I didn’t add much jewelry to this look, just a pair of earrings and a bracelet. The Elle drop earrings are Ivory Mother of Pearl, and they 1.75″ long. These are a great neutral since they will go with almost anything. And, the Fallyn gold link cuff bracelet has been a favorite of mine since I bought it several months ago. I love the simple link design, and I think that it dresses up everything that I wear.

There are a TON of sales that will be starting soon. So, tomorrow is going to be a LONG day for me trying to round up the best sales with all of the best buys. I am also going to try to incorporate sales for tech, appliances, home decor, etc. because we are more than fashion. If there is a particular item that you are looking for, let me know, and I’ll see what I can find.

Tania, I really enjoy your posts, and look forward to them. I very seldom comment But girl….you got me on this one!!!
I bought a skort about a month ago and haven’t worn it yet! I even got a pair of shoes to go with it but I have been having a problem with a top that would look nice.
Besides all of that my sister has told me time and time again that if you wore it when you were younger that you shouldn’t wear it when you are older.
So this post just made me feel really good!
I understand the frustration and actual sadness of not seeing your family. It was a very hard decision for us also. I even told Nick that I really hate having to be an Adult and make decisions that are not selfish and not what I really want!! All I can think about is if we chose to do our “normal” it could be devastating for so many others that aren’t our family.
That is a Burden that I don’t want to carry.
I’m so sorry I kind of went off on a tangent! It’s a liitle bit after 2am and I’m supposed to be sleeping. Which I am not doing because I decided to make stuffed peppers (which came from the garden!) and don’t have any marinara so I am doing a quick one (which for me takes about an hour), plus we decided to open the pool or should I say that we are tearing out our pool and replacing it with one a little more manageable for us. Plus, it’s grocery day tomorrow and I’m just really excited to get dressed for something…even if it’s only grocery shopping.
Now I feel GREAT about my skort! I know how comfortable they are and am very happy that they are in style again!!

I remember when I was a kid, we called them scooter skirts. Loved to wear them! I love them now because the shorts keep my fluffy thighs from rubbing together.

I love, love, love skirts. I feel so feminine when I am wearing one. More comfortable than shorts and I can bend over without shooting the moon.
I only wish they would make them an inch or two longer. I am tall and most skorts seem to show too much above the knee for me.

I haven’t given much thought to wearing a skort before, but seeing how cute it is on you, I might have to look into getting one (or some). This outfit is so cute and I like all the colors when paired with the cardigan.

I use to wear these to bicycle in. They are cute and if I were not to lazy but exercised every day but it is what it is. I love the colors here in the skort and the style of the blouse is exactly what I look for. Like you, I usually go for a little bit more color when I wear pink. Middle range is my best color.

Hi Tania. Being a golfer I’ve worn skorts for a long time. I even wear them for eveyday wear. They are so comfortable and cool in the summer. A pair of sandals, light makeup and jewelry and you’re ready for anything. Thanks for the post.
