The Best Mid-Rise Jeans to Buy Now
Long time readers know that I LOVE a great pair of jeans. Wouldn’t it be nice if they made one perfect pair that looked good on everyone and never went out of style? I mean, one day, we’re rocking low-rise jeans, and the next, the fashion police demand that we move on to high-rise jeans. My first rule is always to wear what you love, but I also like to keep you aware of what the latest trends are. For now, that’s right in the middle. Today, I’m sharing the best mid-rise jeans to buy now.
I think it’s pretty simple, but in case you’re wondering, mid-rise jeans should hit between the hips and the navel. They aren’t as high as high-waisted jeans or as low as low-rise jeans. They are, as Goldilocks once said, just right!

I love a great flare jean. I’ve mentioned before that they are great for making your legs look slimmer. These go a step beyond and add a nice detail of a side slit. A dark wash gives these a dressier look, but if you want a pair that’s a bit more casual, go for the light wash option instead. Don’t be afraid of flare. These aren’t ultra-wide, so I think they’re more along the line of the ever-popular bootcut. I ordered these in sizes 8 and 10. The size 8’s fit me best.
Speaking of bootcuts, here’s a great pair of everyday jeans. If I could only own one pair, I’d go for the bootcut (flattering) and the dark wash (dressy). It wouldn’t hurt if they were also affordable! These definitely are at just $35. They fit close through the hip and thigh and are high-stretch, which means comfortable.
I love a good black jean! This pair from Gap has just the right bootcut width. Gap makes great quality clothing and these should last for years. These are considered “high stretch” jeans which are my favorite. It’s like wearing leggings!
Here’s another slim-fitting pair of jeans in ankle length. I like the detail of the tiny slit on each side and the vintage wash. I like the vintage wash, which is good since that’s the only wash that’s available. 🙂 Runs true to size.
The Best Mid-Rise Jeans to Buy Now – Straight Leg
Looking for a pair of straight-leg jeans? This pair could be your new favorite! They are loose and stretchy, and the best part? They also have tummy control! I think everyone needs a black pair of jeans, but these are also available in traditional denim and ten other colors.
I love ankle boots! I enjoy wearing cute shoes too much to always keep them hidden, lol. These have a nice stretch, and I like where they hit. I want my ankle jeans to be at the top of my ankle. Otherwise, they look like they’re just too short. These come in several washes and colors—over 25!
FYI, you can wear boyfriend jeans, even if you’re married! I checked with the fashion police, and they said it was perfectly fine. 🙂 All jokes aside, I like boyfriend jeans a lot. They have a bit of bagginess without being wide-legged, and I’m a fan of the rolled cuff. Old Navy is always affordable, and these are just $36 dollars.
Wide-leg jeans are not for everyone, but before you scroll past, these are not excessively wide. They are fitted at the hip before widening at the thigh. Reviewers say they are VERY comfortable. I like the vintage wash, but they also come in a dark rinse. Available in sizes up to 24 plus!
The Best Mid-Rise Jeans to Buy Now – Slim
Finally, slim jeans are a great alternative to super skinny jeans. The dark wash looks very chic, but they are also available in black. These are also from Gap and are available in sizes regular, tall, and petite. I think they look great with flats!
I hope you find the perfect pair of mid-rise jeans. Let me know in the comments if you love these “in the middle” jeans as much as I do.

You look great. I am in the process of finding a way to lose fat around my belly/butt, so jeans that are mid-rise aren’t comfortable for me, but I recently bought 2 pairs of jeggings from HALARA and I find them to be comfortable and as flattering as they can be. On sale they were 2/39.95! Also the KUT FROM THE CLOTH jeans are very flattering though not as stretchy as the HALARA ones.
Thanks for the post. I currently am liking the high rise jeans, they seem to cover my belly better. These mid rise look great on you. 🙂
I think some of it has to do with you torso. I prefer a mid rise because they don’t cut into my ribs.
Thank you for this post:). I ordered the Kensie dark wash.
Great family picture! I like wearing mid-rise jeans IF they have tummy control since that’s something this 67 year old needs. I find Sonoma jeans at Kohls to be very soft and comfortable, and are reasonably priced.
I find those jeans comfortable too.
I need short or petite jeans. I love these styles though. They look good on you.
I love mid rise jeans!!!!
Love the old navy jeans.
Please tell me where I can buy the oversized striped shirt you featured.
Nora, I’m not sure which striped shirt your talking about.
Aaaaaw, your son is so handsome! 💗Great pic! Thanks for the jean ideas!!
Do you find that some straight leg jeans actually look more like a boot cut? Boyfriend jeans are my favorite everyday jean.
Yes, they are very similar.
Mid rise is my favorite. I find high rise hard to tuck shirts into without looking odd. I don’t like fitted tops, so it’s just kind of a strange thing for me. Thanks for the options here!
Thanks for all the jean suggestions. Love the mid rise boot cut dark ones from Amazon
Love the boyfriend cuff jeans from ON. Their 50% off sale is great too!!!
High rise works better for my body type. I do like them if the jeans are at my navel. Some mid rise jeans can give me muffin top if they’re below my navel. It’s just tricky for me to buy mid rise jeans. The Gap jeans are really nice.
I prefer a mid rise jean…the wide leg with the frayed hen has my vote!!! Happy Tuesday❤❤❤
I bought those. I’ll show them soon.
Gap jeans are my go to!
Thanks for all the options. I’m still trying to get used to the wide legs. I like the boot cut. It reminds me of my youth!
I’m excited to try the City Gloss, been wanting to try a plumping gloss but was uncertain which brand to buy.
Isn’t it crazy how jeans fit differently based on vendor? I wish I could say that I wear a size 6 in all brands, but it’s trial and error.
We also have pictures with bunny ears behind us from our siblings. LOL
Great jeans post.
Vigoss are my favorite jean brand. I own two pair and they’re the ones I reach for almost daily. They work for me. I truly believe in finding your favorite brand, make a note in your phone so when you find them you know they’re likely to work. I have four brands in a list on my phone.
Slim jeans!
Jeans are a struggle sometimes! Thx for the ideas..
